Where Is the Tampa Cruise Port? 

Tampa Cruise Port, also known as the Port of Tampa Bay, is strategically located along the city’s trendy and vibrant Channelside Drive. This location not only means that the port is in a part of the city that is bustling with activity and offers plenty of things for passengers to do, but it also means that it is highly accessible from all parts of the city.

Number of Tampa Cruise Terminals and Piers 

The Port of Tampa Bay is home to three modern cruise terminals, each designed to offer passengers a comfortable and well-organized boarding experience. Although only three of the terminals are dedicated to servicing cruise ships, they are not named in order:

Terminal 2

Primarily used by Carnival Cruise Line, it is a departure point for ships headed to sunny destinations throughout the Caribbean and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. It is located directly at the southern end of the port complex at 651 Channelside Drive. 

Terminal 3

Mostly used by Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line, it has long berths, making it a more suitable docking option for larger ships. The terminal is located at 815 Channelside Drive, towards the north end of the port, which makes it much easier to get to from the main port parking lot. 

Terminal 6

Located a little closer to downtown at 1333 McKay Street, this cruise terminal was initially reserved as a homeport for Holland America Cruise Line, but now it is used mainly for spillover for any cruise line looking to dock during the busy season. 

All three terminals are along the same strip of water near the city’s Channel District. Ships dock along the Ybor Turning Basin, making it easy for passengers to reach any of the three cruise terminals from downtown and beyond. 

Cruise Lines and Berthing Allocations

As mentioned, Terminal 2 primarily hosts Carnival ships, while Terminal 3 serves as the main docking point for Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line ships.

Terminal 6 is now more versatile, hosting multiple different cruise lines throughout the year, including Holland America Line, Celebrity Cruises, and Margaritaville at Sea.

Tampa Cruise Port Terminal Facilities and Services 

Every cruise terminal offers free public Wi-Fi in all the waiting and seating areas. There are also ample seating areas to ensure that all passengers can relax before their cruise departure after clearing security.

Each terminal is also outfitted with well-maintained restroom facilities and baby changing stations in both the men’s and women’s bathrooms. If you need assistance with your luggage, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 have luggage porters and temporary luggage storage areas on the first floors of both buildings. 

The three terminal buildings were all designed to be ADA-compliant, meaning they are wheelchair accessible and offer wheelchair-friendly bathroom stalls. If you need to use a wheelchair or need mobility assistance prior to boarding, contact your cruise line ahead of time to see what arrangements they can make for you. 

Port of Tampa Bay Cruise Passenger Parking

The Port of Tampa Bay’s cruise facilities were designed with the understanding that many guests would be driving into the city from elsewhere, so they would need ample overnight parking. With this knowledge, the port offers a massive parking lot, and there are other nearby options for when the port is at its busiest during peak cruise season in the winter.

Port Parking

The main parking lot is located directly across from Terminal 6 but within walking distance of the other two cruise terminals. Overnight rates cost $15 per day, with a one-time valet fee of $20 on top of the daily rate.

Given that it is patrolled 24 hours a day and conveniently close to the terminals, it is definitely the preferred choice. It’s worth booking ahead of time to ensure you get a spot.

Channelside Drive Private Lots

A few nearby private lots also offer budget-friendly parking. With how busy the port can get, these private lots are a good option when the main lot is at capacity. Remember that these lots are not necessarily patrolled overnight, so paying extra for Port Parking can be worthwhile if it is available. 

Transportation to and from the Port of Tampa Bay

The Port of Tampa Bay is easy to reach due to its convenient location just outside the city’s downtown core. 

If you are flying into Tampa, Tampa International Airport is just 7.5 miles away. If you are driving yourself, these directions will get you there in 10 to 20 minutes:

Follow Interstate 275 to I-4 East. Take Exit 1 to 21st Street, then. Turn onto Adamo Drive. Follow signs for the Port of Tampa Bay Cruise Terminals, which will feature a silhouette of a cruise ship. Take the turn onto Channelside Drive, then continue until you see the main entrance to the port.

The parking lot is well-marked, and so is the drop-off point. Remember that traffic can be an issue, so you’ll want to give yourself extra time if you arrive the same day your ship departs. 

Tampa Cruise Port Transportation Options 

Given that Tampa is a major commuter city, there is no shortage of transportation options available to visitors. Plenty of taxis operate in the city, and most offer a flat rate of roughly $30 to get you to the cruise terminals from the airport or any of the major hotels in and around the downtown area.

The city also has a very active rideshare presence, with both Uber and Lyft services widely available. For those looking to save money, rideshare vehicles can be a little bit more affordable than a taxi, but you need to avoid rush hour, as surge rates can easily tip the scales. 

Some main cruise lines also offer complimentary shuttle services between the airport and the port. Check with your cruise line beforehand to ensure this is the case, and book your spot on one of the shuttles. 

Public Transportation

To cut costs, you can take the TECO Line Streetcar, which runs from downtown to Channelside Drive. Not only does this electric streetcar come every 15 minutes, but it is also completely free, even for visitors from outside of the city! 

What Is the Best Time to Visit Tampa? 

One of the main reasons why Tampa is such a popular tourist destination is its unique blend of tropical weather and the modern amenities you would get with any major American city.

That said, there are fairly distinct seasonal variations, which can impact when you want to visit and how busy the cruise port will be. The best time to visit will depend on your preferences and budget, but here’s a basic breakdown of what you can expect: 

Summer (June to September)

The summer months tend to be humid with fairly significant rainfall. Tampa is exposed to fairly heavy tropical storms, so even though the warmer temperatures may seem pleasant, you might need to plan indoor activities and pack rain gear. 

Typically, highs around 90°F are expected, plus heavy humidity. Despite the hot temperatures and occasional showers, summer is lively in Tampa. 

Fall (October to November)

With more pleasant temperatures in the 75° to 85°F range, fall is a great time to visit. Rainfall also tends to subside, and the city remains lively, with events like the Clearwater Jazz Holiday and International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival drawing tourists. 

Winter (December to February)

Winter is the peak season for tourism and activity around the cruise port. With temperatures ranging from 50° to 75°F, low humidity, and limited precipitation, it’s a great time to visit the city and surrounding outdoor activities, like Busch Gardens. 

Spring (March to May)

Temperatures increase from 60° to 80°F, while precipitation remains relatively limited. In April, the city also is at its most beautiful. With tropical flowers blooming and plenty of sunshine, it can be a welcome escape from the colder climates throughout the country.

Spring is also the time when the Tampa Bay Blues and Gasparilla Festivals are hosted, making the city an exciting time to visit.

Nearby Amenities and Attractions 

The following can be found within walking distance of the port, making it easy to kill time if you plan to arrive early: 

Tampa Riverwalk and Attractions

This scenic 2.4-mile walking trail is a hub of activity throughout the year. With a nice mix of restaurants, public parks, bars, murals, stores, historical monuments, and even the Florida Aquarium – the Riverwalk’s most popular attraction, you don’t want to miss out.

You’ll also find the Tampa Museum of Art and the Glazer Children’s Museum along the walk. With the Tampa Riverwalk and its numerous attractions only 1.2 miles away, you can walk there from the port in less than 30 minutes by following East Cumberland Avenue.

Ybor City

Just 2.8 miles away, this historic district of Tampa offers visitors an opportunity to see the city’s more culturally enriching side. With numerous bars and restaurants and a vibrant nightlife, it’s a popular destination for younger travelers.

The area has a distinct Columbian and Cuban influence, with numerous restaurants and bistros showcasing the tastes and smells of these two Latin nations. It’s also a great place to purchase cigars for your cruise or even watch master cigar makers roll them by hand. You’ll also find the Tampa Baseball Museum in this exciting neighborhood and the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts.

To add to the unique atmosphere, chickens can roam free, making you feel like you’ve been transported to a Caribbean village. You can also get to and from Ybor City by taking the free TECO Line Streetcar System!

ZooTampa at Lowry Park

This massive 63-acre zoo is one of the largest and most interesting wildlife preserves in the entire state. Although it’s about 6 miles from the cruise port, the drive is relatively simple and short. You can be at the zoo parking lot in roughly 25 minutes by following North Nebraska Avenue. 

Florida Aquarium

We already mentioned the Florida Aquarium, but it’s worth noting this must-see attraction again. Rated among the best aquariums in the country, it is an interesting and educational option for the whole family.

Given that it’s just a four-minute walk from Terminal 3 and right next to Terminal 2, you really can’t miss it. Plus, right outside the aquarium, you can see the American Victory Ship & Museum, a fully restored warship from the Second World War. The ship floats in the harbor and acts as an interactive maritime museum!

Dining and Shopping in Tampa

If you are looking for dining and shopping options near the port, you’re in luck. There are plenty of options within a short walk or reasonable taxi ride of the port terminals. 

Channelside Bay Plaza is a multi-purpose entertainment complex located directly on Channelside Drive near the port. With various dining and shopping options, it is perfect for pre- or post-cruise entertainment.

If you are looking for more options, it is worth traveling to Downtown Tampa. The city’s core has plenty of gourmet restaurants and trendy boutiques, which are easy to discover while exploring.

Consider taxiing to Tampa’s International Plaza and Bay Street for more high-end shopping. The mall is home to all the usual designer brands you would find in any high-end mall, so there is something for everyone. It’s also a good option if you forgot something for your trip or want to buy a few last-minute outfits, as there are plenty of clothing stores throughout the mall. 

If you want an authentic taste of Tampa, go to Ybor City. Do yourself a favor and get an authentic Cuban sandwich. They’re filling and delicious. Carmine’s Restaurant and Bar is one of the top choices in Ybor City, but Abella’s Cuban Restaurant is just as good!

You’ll also find plenty of restaurants near the cruise port that are serving other Tampa classics, such as deviled crabs, grouper sandwiches, and empanadas. 

For a modern take on classic American cuisine, try Naked Farmer, just a short walk from the cruise port on Water Street.

How far is it from Tampa Airport to the cruise terminal? 

The Tampa International Airport is 7.5 miles from the closest cruise terminal, but traffic can make the relatively short journey take longer than expected. If you travel during the city’s rush hours, between 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays, you will want to give yourself more time.

How much is a taxi from Tampa airport to the cruise port?

While meter rates can differ, most taxis will offer a flat rate of $30 to get from Tampa International Airport to the Tampa Bay Cruise Port. Just ask your driver to make sure before you get into the cab, as most will offer this flat rate if asked. You may be charged the more expensive and unpredictable meter rate if you don’t ask.

Does Tampa Airport have a cruise shuttle?

The airport does not operate its own cruise terminal shuttle, but many major cruise lines do. Whether or not you can take a shuttle will depend on which cruise line you are traveling with, so make sure you check ahead of time.

If you would rather travel by shuttle bus, you can book through Tampa Bay Airport Shuttle Service, but this is a paid service rather than a complimentary shuttle.

Royal Caribbean to Resume Cruises From Baltimore After Bridge Collapse

Port of Baltimore announced on May 15, 2024, that Royal Caribbean cruises from the port will resume. Vision of the Seas will set sail on May 25 for a five-night cruise to Bermuda.

The 78,340 gross ton Vision-class cruise ship will be the first cruise ship to sail from Baltimore since the same vessel sailed on a 12-day cruise on March 21, 2024. The port has been closed for cruise ships since a container ship crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

Port of Baltimore said the following on its Facebook page: “Get ready…the Port of Baltimore is ready to cruise once again! Royal Caribbean International’s Vision of the Seas will depart on May 25th for a fantastic 5-night voyage from Baltimore to Bermuda! This marks the first cruise departing Baltimore since the Key Bridge incident.”

The Key Bridge accident happened on March 26, 2024, when the container ship Dali experienced a blackout while sailing out of Baltimore Harbor. This resulted in the ship’s systems going offline and the ship colliding with a pier supporting the bridge, causing its collapse.

The US Army Corps of Engineers, federal agencies, and state and local workers have been working extremely hard to restore operations as soon as possible. Although some temporary channels with limited depth have been created, which provided some access to smaller vessels, these were unsuitable for cruise ships due to their deeper draft.

The first cruise, departing on May 25, will be a five-night Bermuda cruise on Vision of the Seas, which includes a two-day stop at Kings Wharf, Bermuda, before returning to Baltimore on May 30. 

Vision of the Seas will then alternate 5-night sailings to Bermuda with 9-night cruises to Bermuda and the Bahamas. The longer 9-night voyages will also include stops in Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay. 

Since the accident, both Vision of the Seas and Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Spirit have operated their cruises from the Port of Norfolk, Virginia, a distance of 240 miles (or 386 kilometers) from Baltimore.

Carnival Also Resumes Cruises from Baltimore

Royal Caribbean International is not alone in the resumption of cruises from Baltimore. On May 9, Carnival Cruise Line confirmed that the cruise sailing from Norfolk, Virginia, onboard the 88,500-gross-ton Carnival Pride would conclude in Baltimore. The ship will visit Nassau, Princess Cays, and Freeport, Bahamas.

To accommodate guests who are in the awkward situation of starting and ending their cruise in different locations, Carnival is assisting with transportation and a $100 onboard credit.

On May 26, Carnival Pride will embark on a 14-night Greenland cruise. The Carnival Journey includes stops at Nanortalik and Qaqortoq in Greenland on June 1 and June 2. Following the calls to Greenland, the ship will stop in St. Anthony and Corner Brook, Newfoundland, and Sydney, Nova Scotia, before returning to Baltimore on June 9. 

The return of Vision of the Seas and Carnival Pride is a big moment for Baltimore and the surrounding area. The two cruise ships are the only ones homeported in Baltimore, making their return important for the local economy and those people in Baltimore who depend on cruise ships to make a living. No other ships have scheduled calls from Baltimore in 2024 or 2025.

MSC Cruises has revealed its ambitious expansion of its MSC Yacht Club luxury offerings aboard its newest flagship, the 6,762-passenger and 2,138-crew MSC World America, scheduled to debut in April 2025. The announcement highlights the introduction of what will be the largest MSC Yacht Club in the North American market.

Positioned as a “ship within a ship,” the MSC Yacht Club aboard the 215,863-gross-ton ship will provide enhanced exclusive facilities, including two Owner’s Suites, a private bi-level sundeck, and a dedicated restaurant and bar, all boasting ocean views. The offerings are part of MSC’s World Class platform.

Said Cristian Comirla, brand performance director for MSC Yacht Club, of the exclusive nature of the new ship, “MSC World America will take our MSC Yacht Club product to new heights as the largest MSC Yacht Club in the North American market. MSC World America is set to debut in Miami on April 12, 2025, sailing on a roundtrip Caribbean voyage to Puerto Plata/Amber Cove, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and MSC Cruise’s private Ocean Cay Marine Reserve in the Bahamas.

MSC Unveils Enhanced Luxury Features

The new MSC Yacht Club’s enhancements will be anchored by the introduction of two Owner’s Suites, which will feature expansive interiors that include lavish bedrooms, state-of-the-art entertainment systems, and opulent bathrooms with full-sized bathtubs. 

Each suite will open onto a private terrace equipped with outdoor hot tubs and seating areas, featuring a separate living and dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Also new to the ship will be a comedy club joining established venues like the Gin Project, Elixir – Mixology Bar, and the Masters of the Sea pub and its onboard microbrewery.

MSC World America will also feature an 11-deck-high dry slide constructed from stainless steel, providing a fun way for guests to move from upper to lower decks. The ship will also feature six pools, including an indoor pool with a retractable roof and twin adults-only Zen pools located aft.

For families, the ship will also offer an expansive water park equipped with water slides that incorporate virtual reality technology. Additionally, Kids Clubs onboard will be tailored to different age groups, ranging from infants to 17-year-olds.

Godmother Named for Second Margaritaville at Sea Ship

Margaritaville at Sea has named a very special godmother for the cruise line’s second vessel, Margaritaville at Sea Islander. The honor goes to Savannah Buffett, eldest daughter of the late singer, songwriter, and sailor Jimmy Buffet, who passed away on September 1, 2023.

The choice is a spectacular one, as Savannah carries on her own legacy of maritime culture as well as diverse cultural talents, including acting, literature, and photography. She co-authored two children’s books with her father, has hosted radio shows, and was a back-up singer in the 1998 music video “Jamaica Farewell.”

“We are honored to have Savannah as the Godmother of the Islander as she embodies the lifestyle Jimmy was passionate about: life on the water, great food, entertainment, and everything our guests have come to enjoy while vacationing with Margaritaville at Sea,” said Christopher Ivy, CEO of Margaritaville at Sea.

Savannah will officially christen the new ship when it is ready to set sail in what is sure to be a lively and colorful ceremony befitting the Margaritaville vibe and the ship’s new image.

“I’m beyond excited to be named Godmother of Margaritaville at Sea Islander and look forward to rendering the right concoction of love and luck so she may plow the seas amidst smooth, untroubled waters in search of that one particular harbor,” said Savannah. 

“As a descendent of captains and boat builders, I accept this honor in tribute to the legacy of my seafaring ancestors. Cheers to many a lovely cruise!”

The date and other details of the ship’s naming ceremony have not been announced, but is likely to be close to the ship’s debut in mid-June.

“Jimmy would be thrilled that Savannah is the Godmother of the Islander,” said John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville Holdings. “With his eldest daughter holding this honor, the christening of the Islander will be a very, very special day for all of us.”

Cruise ship christenings typically involve exclusive performances, VIP attendees, various speeches from cruise line executives, blessings for the vessel and all who sail on her, and other memorable activities. The culmination of the event is breaking a bottle of champagne over the ship’s hull in a centuries-old maritime tradition.

Sailing on Margaritaville at Sea Islander

The new cruise ship’s inaugural voyage will depart from Port Tampa Bay on June 14, 2024. The 4-night sailing includes a visit to Cozumel, Mexico, and will also feature two full days at sea for guests to enjoy all the features of the newly renovated ship.

Fan favorites found aboard the cruise line’s first ship, Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, will also be found aboard Margaritaville at Sea Islander. This includes pickleball, a Margaritaville-inspired cornhole and mini-golf course, and the famous Cheeseburger in Paradise eatery. The ship also features new, exclusive spaces, including the Caribbean Amphibian Play Pad and Slide.

Formerly Costa Atlantica, the 85,619-gross-ton Margaritaville at Sea Islander is now finishing a full renovation for her new tropical personality, featuring vibrant colors and classic Margaritaville touches. The 12-deck ship can welcome 2,650 passengers for rollicking good times.

In addition to her 4-night sailings to Cozumel, the ship will also offer 5-night cruises that will visit both Key West and Cozumel. Select departure dates will also feature Progreso as a port of call.

In 2025, Margaritaville at Sea Islander will also begin offering select longer itineraries, including 5- and 7-night cruises and expanding port of call offerings to include Costa Maya, Belize, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman.

The ship will remain homeported from Port Tampa Bay year-round at least through 2025.

Northern Ireland Port Enjoys Busy Cruise Season Launch

The cruise-tourism season at Foyle Port, on Northern Ireland’s north coast, got off to a lively start with the May 14, 2024 arrival of Seabourn Cruise’s Seabourn Ovation. The 600-guest luxury ship was the first of three to call at Foyle Port during the first week of the season.

Seabourn Ovation was at the tail-end of a 22-day voyage from Lisbon, Portugal, to Dover, England, with two more calls — at Saint-Malo and Cherbourg, France — remaining on her itinerary. Also calling this week at Foyle Port are Saga Cruises’ 100-guest Spirit of Adventure on May 16, 2024, and Quark Expeditions’ 172-guest World Explorer on May 19, 2024.

All told, port officials expect about 10,000 cruise arrivals during the season, which runs until September.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Seabourn Ovation to Lough Foyle once again following her maiden visit last May. We are seeing return calls from 92% of the cruise lines this year – we believe this speaks volumes to the positive experience received on previous visits and is a real testament to the destination,” said Bill McCann, harbor master and operations director at Foyle Port.

McCann added that 2023 was a record year for the port, as it welcomed over 16,000 guests and crew, providing a direct spend of over €1 million into the local economy, including at restaurants, shops, transportation companies, and other vendors. 

“We eagerly anticipate further growth allowing for more international tourists to experience first-hand what a beautiful part of the world this is,” added McCann.

Other notable ships scheduled to visit Foyle Port this season include Azamara’s Azamara Onward and Azamara Quest,  Silversea Cruises’ Silver Spirit, Hebridean Island Cruises’ Hebridean Princess, and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Dawn.

Maiden calls include Villa Vie Odyssey, the new world cruise brand operated by Villa Vie Residences, which is due to enter service in late May 2024.

The port consists of three berthing areas: Greencastle & Magilligan, a deep water tender port that accommodates ships up to 1,066 feet; Lisahally Terminal, which can handle ships up to 656 feet; and Fort George, for smaller ships up to 328 feet long.

Foyle Port Region Offers Stunning Natural Attractions

Foyle Port is located in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland’s second-largest city, and is Ireland’s only walled city. Situated about 70 miles northwest of Belfast, the port sits on an estuary of the Foyle River on Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coastal Route and is considered the gateway to the North West of Ireland. 

Attractions feature the UNESCO World Heritage Site Giant’s Causeway, castle ruins in the villages of Dunluce and Dunseverick, the County Donegal section of the Wild Atlantic Way, Glenveagh National Park, and the Inishowen Peninsula.

Adventure-seekers can cross the famous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and hike along the cliff edge on the coastal path, while birdwatchers and nature lovers can look for seabirds and marine life.

The destination is known for its outdoor festivals, including the popular Foyle Maritime Festival, set for June 27-30, 2024, and featuring tall ships, historic vessels, live music, food, and more.

World’s First Arabian Cruise Line Opens Bookings

Passengers eager to experience the Red Sea aboard the first Arabian cruise line can now reserve a stateroom on AROYA Cruises, Saudi Arabia’s inaugural cruise line venture.

Launched by Cruise Saudi, AROYA can accommodate up to 3,362 passengers in 1,678 cabins, including Balcony and Sea View Cabins, Suites, and Villas. The impressive ship stretches over 1,000 feet in length and weighs 151,000 gross tons.

“The launch of our cruise line to commercial markets is an important milestone for both AROYA Cruises and for the tourism landscape in Saudi,” said Dr. Joerg Rudolph, president of AROYA Cruises. “We are thrilled that the public can now book sailings with us as we strive to reinvent the meaning of holidays in Arabia.”

He added, “We have been steadfast in our mission to create a Remarkably Arabian cruise line offering for guests at sea and onshore, commercially and sustainably, and we look forward to sharing this with our passengers.”

The cruise line’s inaugural sailing is set to commence on December 16, 2024. The 3-day roundtrip cruise from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will explore the Red Sea and visit the Cruise Saudi-owned private island for a day on the beach. This announcement comes during a time when multiple cruise lines are cancelling routes via the Red Sea.

Additional 3-day voyages will follow, with similar itineraries offered through May 22, 2025.

Four-day voyages, also roundtrip from Jeddah, launch on December 22, 2024, and call on Egypt’s resort town Sharm El Sheikh, located on the Sinai Peninsula, during the “World of Discoveries” voyage, or Al Aqaba, Jordan, where guests can take excursions to visit Petra during the “Cultures from the Depths of the Sea” journey. These kick off on January 5, 2025.

Three longer cruises are also available, including a 6-night “Legacy of the Desert and the Waves” voyage from Jeddah. Visiting both Al Aqaba and Sharm El Sheik, with an overnight call in the latter, the cruise is available March 31, 2025,

The “From the Shores to a World of Wonders” 7-day voyages, available January 9 and February 20, 2025, add Cairo (Ain Sokhna) to the extended itinerary.

Setting Sail with a Bevy of Amenities and Unique Offerings

The Arabian cruise, which will carry 1,600 crew members, is setting sail as a “floating resort” featuring extensive amenities and entertainment options across its 18 decks. The ship’s entertainment offerings will be diverse, with 20 venues, including a 1,018-seater AROYA Theatre, which will host a variety of performances and movies.

AROYA will also offer a nearly 20,000-square-foot kids’ zone, one of the largest in cruising, with a water park featuring five water slides and a splash zone. There will also be exclusive places for women with dedicated hours, including a swimming pool, gym, and thermal spa. 

The spa, Blossom by AROYA, will be available for men and women and offers a comprehensive range of services in various treatment rooms. 

As an Arabian ship, AYOYA will also feature prayer rooms, including separate rooms for men and women. Also unique will be the more than 17,000-square-foot souk-inspired retail space, which will emulate a traditional Arabian marketplace experience.

AROYA Cruises will include international dining with five complimentary restaurants, 11 specialty restaurants, and 12 cafes and lounges. Notably, IRTH, the first Saudi restaurant at sea, will feature traditional Arabian dining.

VIP guests can select the Khuzama offerings that include complimentary Internet and Wi-Fi packages, 24-hour in-room dining, and butler service. Exclusive benefits will include preferred services and amenities, from priority boarding, luggage delivery, and disembarkation to priority seat reservations at select entertainment venues.

Khuzama guests will also have access to an exclusive lounge and bar. The category entry begins with 420-square-foot Deluxe Suites, featuring a queen bed and a double sofa bed and balconies that can accommodate four people, and climbs to the 4,219-square-foot Royal Villa, featuring six bedrooms, two living areas, a dining area, a kid’s playroom, and eight bathrooms.

Traditional cabins range from 129-square-foot interior cabins for two to 291-square-foot balcony cabins, which can accommodate up to five people and have a queen bed and a double sofa bed.

Celebrity Cruises Ship Begins First-Ever UK Sailing Season

Celebrity Apex has made a phenomenal debut in the UK as she shifts homeports to Southampton for her first-ever season sailing from the classic maritime city.

The ship is the first of the revolutionary Edge-class vessels to call the UK home, and she will be offering a variety of itineraries for eager travelers to enjoy.

The 130,818-gross-ton Celebrity Apex is departing from her new homeport for the first time on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 for an 8-night Norwegian fjords itinerary. Scheduled ports of call include Flam, Geiranger, Alesund, and Kristiansand in Norway, as well as Zeebrugge, Belgium, before the ship returns to Southampton on May 23.

Additional itineraries Celebrity Apex will sail from Southampton range from 4-13 days, offering great options to meet travelers’ preferences for different vacation experiences. Dramatic scenery, idyllic villages, sandy beaches, centuries of culture, world-class shopping, and more await guests at different ports Celebrity Apex will visit in the coming months.

Destinations include not only Norway and the rest of Scandinavia, but also Iceland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, and the Canary Islands. Of special note is the ship’s July 8 departure, a 12-night Norwegian fjord and Arctic Circle sailing, a bucket-list itinerary for many travelers.

Celebrity Apex will remain homeported from Southampton through the end of October, leaving for the last time on October 23 with a one-way transatlantic cruise to Fort Lauderdale, calling at the Azores and Bermuda along the way.

Where Are the Other Edge-Class Ships This Summer?

Asia-Based Cruise Line Expands Its Presence In the Middle East

Resorts World Cruises, which launched in 2022 to cater to the Asian market, is expanding its global presence. Resorts World One, which was acquired by the new cruise line at the beginning of 2023, will be homeporting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for six months beginning in October of 2024. 

Resorts World One and Genting Dream, which was the first ship to join the new fleet about two years ago, already have a strong presence in Asia. The young cruise line already sails to destinations throughout China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. 

By embarking on a 6-month deployment in Dubai, the new company intends to expand its reach to the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. The 1,856-guest vessel will primarily homeport in Dubai.

Specifically, the 75,338-gross ton ship will dock at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Cruise Terminal at Mina Rashid, which is large enough to accommodate up to seven large cruise ships at once, or around 25,000 passengers at a time – and is currently undergoing an expansion to meet demand. 

As the Middle East’s leading cruise port for the past eight years, it serves as a gateway to the local cuisine, shopping, Dubai’s red sand dunes, museums, and famous sights like the Burj Khalifa, which is the world’s tallest skyscraper. 

But beyond cultivating more of a global presence for the new brand, the goal is to attract a new segment of cruise passengers from Asia, increasing diversity to and boosting the economy in the Arabian Gulf, while also making cruising accessible for Muslim passengers.

“We are excited to introduce the Resorts World Cruises brand to the Arabian Gulf with the Resorts World One cruise ship. In order to cater to regional Muslim cruisers, Resorts World One is in the process of obtaining her official OIC/SMIIC Standard Halal-Friendly Cruise Ship certification. As part of this, all meat products will be sourced from UAE Halal suppliers, and no pork will be served in any of the ship’s 18 restaurants to avoid any potential cross-contamination. 

In addition, guests will be able to make advance appointments to guarantee they have access to crew members of their same gender for certain onboard services, such as spa treatments. 

The First Arabian Gulf Itineraries From Resorts World Cruises

Resorts World One’s six-month deployment in the Arabian Gulf will begin on October 18, 2024, and last until April 13, 2025. Throughout this time, the ship is scheduled to make 75 port calls and host approximately 150,000 passengers. 

As a new cruise line, this deployment will largely serve as Resorts World Cruises’ introduction to the region. That said, some passengers may already know the Resorts World brand that the cruise line is an extension of – as the parent company owns over 46 luxury properties in 8 countries and 4 continents.

As of now, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has resulted in numerous cancellations and alterations to cruises bound for the Red Sea region, is not impacting these itineraries. 

From Dubai, the ship will offer 2-night weekend cruises to Sir Bani Yas, UAE, with departures on Fridays; 3-night Oman cruises to Khasab, Oman, and Muscat, Oman, departing on Sundays; and 2-night cruises to Doha, Qatar, departing on Wednesdays.

For guests who want to spend more time at sea, there are flexible options to combine two or all three of the itineraries to increase the cruise length to 4, 5, or 7 nights.

Coinciding with Qatar’s annual school holidays, Resorts World One will temporarily switch its homeport to Doha, Qatar, from October 24 to November 2, 2024. During this window, there will be two separate 2-night, round-trip cruises to Dubai that will embark on October 24 and October 31, as well two five-night sailings based out of Doha that will call on Dubai, Khasab, and Muscat.

All sailings will be all-inclusive, with entertainment, gourmet meals, and onboard experiences like fitness classes, mini golf, dance classes, and even a rope course and 35-meter zipline included in cruise fare.

While the Resorts World Cruises is designed to be luxurious, guests who want to be extra pampered can choose to stay in The Palace, which is like a mini, all-suite hotel on both of the cruise line’s ships. This option even comes with a 24-hour butler service.

Two Weeks of Sailings Now Cancelled for Carnival Pride

Carnival Cruise Line has reached out to guests booked on upcoming sailings of Carnival Pride to let them know that two weeks of sailings are now cancelled due to a change in dry dock scheduling. The impacted sailings are from March 29 through April 12, 2026, when the ship was scheduled to be offering 7-night cruises from Baltimore, Maryland.

Instead, however, the ship will be entering dry dock for updates and renovations, and sailings during that window cannot move forward.

“In our continuous effort to enhance our product, Carnival Pride has now been scheduled for dry dock and we’re sorry to inform you that your cruise has been cancelled,” the notification email read.

Fortunately, the impacted cruises are more than 22 months away, which makes it easier for affected travelers to rearrange their vacation plans.

The cruise line is offering an incentive if guests would like to rebook on a different sailing, either on Carnival Pride or on a different ship. The fare rate of the now-cancelled cruise will be protected on comparable voyages when booked in similar accommodations.

Furthermore, if guests rebook, they will get a $50 (USD) onboard credit per person, up to $100 per stateroom, to use on the new sailing as a thank you for continuing their plans to set sail with Carnival Cruise Line.

If travelers are unable to rebook or choose not to do so, they do not need to take any action. The cancelled cruises will be fully refunded, including any Early Saver reservations, with no fees or penalties. Similarly, all prepaid purchases, such as gratuities, drink packages, or internet packages will also be fully refunded back to the original form of payment.

Refunds will be processed after May 28, 2024, but may take up to three weeks to process through different financial institutions.

What Updates May Be Planned?

Carnival Pride‘s most recent dry dock was a month-long renovation in May 2023. That major refurbishment took place in Cadiz, Spain, and included adding the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, Carnival Adventures Shop, and Dreams Photo Studio to the ship.

Other public areas were renovated, the arcade relocated, and the David’s Steakhouse was rebranded to Fahrenheit 555. This included the removal of the sometimes controversial statue of David from the restaurant, which has recently reappeared most appropriately on Carnival Firenze.

The 2023 dry dock also included repainting the ship’s hull in the new red, white, and blue livery colors that first debuted on Mardi Gras and have gradually been rolled out across the Carnival fleet.

Because the 2026 dry dock is only half the length of time of the 2023 renovations, it is unlikely that the changes will be quite as extreme. All cruise ships enter dry dock every 2-3 years for general maintenance and upgrades, however, which typically include new decking and flooring where necessary, updates to lighting and upholstery, and technical upgrades to ensure the best possible operation.

At the time of this planned dry dock, the 88,500-gross-ton, Spirit-class Carnival Pride will be homeported from Baltimore, offering 7-night Bahamas sailings. Of special interest on these tropical sailings are calls to the upcoming Celebration Key, Carnival Cruise Line’s new private destination currently under construction on Grand Bahama Island.

The ship should continue those itineraries immediately following the dry dock. At this time, the cruise line has not announced where the dry dock renovations will be done, nor is there any plan for one-way sailings to or from the dry dock location.

Carnival Pride‘s itineraries past spring 2026 have not yet been announced, as cruise lines typically don’t release new itineraries so far in advance. That information should be announced in the coming months as new seasons are revealed for the entire Carnival fleet.
