Royal Caribbean Launches New Program for Icon of the Seas

Royal Caribbean has issued a call-to-artists for a project that will bring unique Caribbean artwork to the line’s newest ship, Icon of the Seas. The line’s Artist Discovery Program invites up-and-coming artists to compete for a chance to contribute their talents to a series of collections that will be seen by millions of cruise ship guests.

Celebration of Caribbean Culture on Icon of the Seas

Royal Caribbean’s new Artist Discovery Program will bring the works of Caribbean-based artists into the line’s new flagship, Icon of the Seas, scheduled to launch in January 2024.

The project aims to highlight the cultures of Caribbean destinations the ship will visit when she begins sailing 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries year-round from her homeport of Miami.

Every Icon of the Seas cruise will visit Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas, along with a mix of port calls such as Cozumel, Mexico; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; and Basseterre, St. Kitts.

In the first phase of the ongoing program, Royal Caribbean will commission selected artists to paint 9 large murals in three locations: the embarkation area at the Port of Miami, in the Royal Promenade, the central thoroughfare onboard the ship, and in the Suite Sundeck, a VIP area for suite guests.

Royal Caribbean President and CEO Michael Bayley said, ”The Artist Discovery Program is a project close to our hearts at Royal Caribbean International because the destinations we visit are family. And it’s only fitting that we begin our search for up-and-coming artists who are in the Caribbean; it’s where we got our start more than 50 years ago.”

He added, “Vacationers want to immerse themselves in the places they visit. This is a way to spotlight the beauty of the local cultures and people in the places they see and enjoy every day on their cruise, beginning with large-scale canvases on a first-of-its-kind adventure – Icon of the Seas.”

The cruise line will award monetary grants to each artist selected, from $20,000 to $100,000-plus, to create their artwork. The artists will work with Royal Caribbean’s new-build team to install the art onboard the ship while it is under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the line said. The timeline for installation is from June 10 to August 14, 2023. Artists are asked to submit work samples as part of the application process.

Largest Cruise Ship at Sea

When she debuts in early 2024, the 250,800 gross ton Icon of the Seas will become the largest cruise ship at sea, accommodating 5,610 guests in double occupancy. The largest ship sailing today is another Royal Caribbean ship, Wonder of the Seas, which debuted in March 2022 and weighs 236,857 gross tons.

Icon of the Seas, voted Most Anticipated New Cruise Ship for 2023 by Cruise Hive readers, will feature eight neighborhoods and several new experiences including the largest waterpark at sea, called the AquaDome, a free-fall slide, and a suspended infinity pool, among others.

Cruisers eager to get an early glimpse of the mega-ship’s features can do so with the computer game Fortnite. Royal Caribbean on March 6 announced that gamers can check out the ship’s Thrill Island and The Hideaway neighborhoods, plus the waterpark, a skywalk and ropes course, and the infinity pool by playing Royal Caribbean: Hide ’N Sea on Fortnite.

What Is a Pullman Bed On a Cruise Ship?

Cruise ships have all types of interesting terms and unique features. A word you may commonly hear on a cruise ship is “Pullman bed.” But what is a Pullman bed on a cruise ship, and how do they work?

In this article, you’ll learn what a Pullman bed is, why you might consider a cabin with one, and everything else you need to know about this type of bed.

What Is a Pullman Bed on a Cruise Ship?

A Pullman bed is a bed that either pulls down from the ceiling or comes out from the wall of a cruise ship cabin.

A Pullman bed’s purpose isn’t to serve as a main bed in a cabin. Ideally, it’s meant to create extra space in a cruise ship cabin in the living area while allowing additional people to sleep in the room. When not in use, the Pullman bed swiftly folds back to where it came from – whether that be the wall or the ceiling – making your cabin feel bigger.

Choosing a cabin with a Pullman bed instead of an additional bed is generally a cheaper option, especially if you have young children or teenagers who would be sleeping on the Pullman bed.

Now that you know what a Pullman bed on a cruise ship is, are you wondering how the Pullman bed came to be? Let’s walk through a brief history lesson.

Pullman Bed History

The Pullman bed was invented by inventor George Pullman in the 19th century. Pullman beds were initially designed to solve the problem of cramped, uncomfortable sleeping quarters in the railway systems at the time.

As a result, Pullman unveiled the Pullman sleeper – a “luxurious” alternative to cramped sleeping quarters on transportation. This invention became a huge success and continues to be used today in cruise ships.

How Do You Set up a Pullman Bed?

Pullman beds are generally not very easy to set up yourself, especially if they drop from the ceiling, as there’s often a ladder involved.

You’ll need the help of a cabin steward to lift it in and out. A cabin steward usually takes over this role entirely, lowering it in the evening and raising it for you in the morning every day. They know how to ensure that the Pullman bed is secure and that the proper railings are in place to ensure the safety of the person sleeping on it.

Who Can Sleep on a Pullman Bed?

Today, Pullman beds are often meant for families with children. However, it’s possible for adults to also sleep on a Pullman bed. They’re usually the length of a regular bed. A stateroom with a Pullman bed is an excellent alternative for a group of friends with a tight budget.

That said, they are often recommended for children because they have a weight limit. The weight limits vary based on cruise lines but are usually around 200 pounds.

Generally, heavy people should refrain from sleeping on Pullman beds for safety reasons, and it’s essential to remember this when booking your cruise cabins.

Pullman Bed Safety Concerns for Children

Although many families choose to let their children sleep on Pullman beds during their cruise, there are a few safety concerns that you must still look out for.

The main concern is guard rails, especially if you have young children. The guard rails on Pullman beds differ significantly, from high rails to ones that barely appear above the mattress.

If your young child is prone to rolling and there’s a risk that they might fall off the bed, it’s a good idea to let someone else sleep on the Pullman bed. You can also ask for extra pillows or an extra guard rail, although not many ships may offer this option.

How Comfortable Are Pullman Beds?

For the most part, Pullman beds are just as comfortable as the other beds in your cruise cabin. They’re usually more comfortable than a sofa bed because they use actual mattresses.

That said, it’s important to remember that Pullman beds are single beds, so you won’t have much space while you sleep.

What’s more, Pullman beds that come out of the ceiling are generally pretty high and require a ladder to get on and off the bed. This makes these beds unsuitable for those with mobility issues.

If you get up multiple times a night, the bed could also cause problems for others trying to sleep in your cruise cabin, as the noise from the ladder may wake them.

Wrap-Up: Using a Pullman Bed on a Cruise Ship

To recap, Pullman beds pull out of the ceiling or wall of a stateroom on a cruise ship. Children and adults alike can comfortably sleep on these beds, and they allow you to fit your entire family or party in one room.

Pullman beds are a great way to use space on cruise ships. Cabins with Pullman beds are generally a more affordable option, and the cabin steward raises and lowers the bed so that all you have to worry about is a good night’s rest.

Hopefully, this article has answered more than “what is a Pullman bed on a cruise ship” and that you’ve discovered a new option for your next cruise!

Norwegian Not Planning on More Sailings from Panama

Norwegian Jewel became the first ship sailing from Panama City (Colón), Panama, for Norwegian Cruise Line in 2022. However, cruising from the country did not last long as the company seems to have decided to discontinue these homeport cruises, at least for the majority of next year, with only sailing in December remaining.

Norwegian Pulls Out of Panama

Norwegian Cruise Line has confirmed that there are currently no plans on homeporting a ship out of Panama following December 2024. Cruise Hive contacted NCL for a response, and a spokesperson said it will sail out of Panama through December 2024.

“We are committed to delivering exceptional experiences across our fleet, which includes curating itineraries to the world’s most sought-out destinations. Panama Canal voyages continue to be a favorite amongst our guests, with sailings open for sale through December 2024 embarking from Panama City,” NCL said.

There is only one sailing scheduled for 2024 from Panama. That sailing in December 2024 is the 9-day cruise on Norwegian Gem to Cozumel and Jamaica from Panama City.

The cruise line is discontinuing cruises with Panamanian ports as a homeport, such as the Norwegian Jewel cruises to Curacao, Aruba & Cartagena from Panama City. Cruises that have a regular scheduled port call are not affected.

According to the Panama Tourism Authority, NCL’s decision to pull out of Panama as a homeport was mainly due to the logistics and infrastructure needed to support operations.

Norwegian Cruise Line did not have much luck with Panama, particularly after a gangway collapsed with passengers from Norwegian Encore.

Disney’s New Bahamas Cruise Destination Opens Summer 2024

Disney Cruise Line has announced the opening of its new island destination at Lighthouse Point, Eleuthera, in The Bahamas, in the summer 2024. The vibrant beach retreat has been designed with families in mind and will provide a unique celebration of Bahamian culture infused with the quality and service of a Disney vacation.

The island destination was first announced in 2019 and will become Disney’s second private destination in the Bahamas. The cruise line already has a private island called Castaway Cay. Disney is expected to spend anywhere between $250 million and $400 million on developing the 700-acre property.

One-of-a-Kind Island Destination

Disney Cruise Line will open its brand-new island destination resort at Lighthouse Point in the summer of 2024. Lighthouse Point is located on the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas.

It will be a one-of-a-kind island destination that combines breathtaking natural beauty with the magic of Bahamian hospitality, storytelling, and artistry.

Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line: “At Disney Cruise Line, we have a deep appreciation for the Bahamian community. We are connected in many ways, including our shared values of storytelling and hospitality. With the opening of Lighthouse Point, visitors from around the world will experience the magic of The Bahamas in a new way, one that truly celebrates its natural and cultural beauty.”

Respect for the environment was a prime concern when designing Lighthouse Point. An onsite solar array will meet at least 90% of the destination’s electricity needs, the pier was designed to avoid the need for dredging, and elevated walkways will help limit the impact on the landscape. The cruise line’s second Bahamian island destination was first announced in 2019, the cruise line also operates Castaway Cay.

Thoughtful Designs

Disney’s new island destination is thoughtfully designed to provide a hassle-free experience for families. All guests will receive complimentary beach essentials such as towels, chairs and umbrellas, and lunch, and there will be a convenient tram transportation system ferrying guests around the site.

At Lighthouse Point, visitors of all ages can indulge in various exciting activities and explore the beautiful surroundings. Families can unwind on the white sandy beaches and swim in the crystal-clear turquoise waters at the expansive family beach on the island’s east side.

On the south-western side of the destination, there will be a more peaceful family beach that will feature 20 premium family cabanas that can be rented out. There will be options for larger groups and even massage services.

The entire island is designed with a relaxed Bahamian vibe, with particular attention to local flora and fauna.

Kevin Thomas, creative director of Walt Disney Imagineering: “Lighthouse Point is a place of extraordinary natural beauty, so our goal has always been to create designs that accentuate its qualities in an organic way. We’re focused on low-density, sustainable development that protects and preserves the environment, allowing the site’s biodiversity to shine.”

Fun and Relaxation for Everyone

At Lighthouse Point, children will enjoy a colorful, interactive water play area with two slides, water drums, fountains, and more. There is also a dedicated space for toddlers.

Parents can relax knowing that a themed kids’ club supervised by trained Disney Cruise Line counselors is available for children aged 3 to 12. The club features a splash pad inspired by the characters from “The Little Mermaid.”

There is a dedicated adult-exclusive beach north of the family area for adults seeking a tranquil retreat. The beach has its dedicated dining area, providing access to food and drinks throughout the day, away from the younger crowds from the ship. The beach will also feature six private cabanas, which guests will be able to reserve.

Lighthouse Point will open for guests on select sailings in the summer of 2024. Disney said details on itineraries of ships sailing to the new island destination and additional information about entertainment, dining, retail, and excursions would be released later.

In the ship’s MSC Foundation Youth Center, youngsters can learn about the importance of the environment, and for teenagers, the Teens Club Extra Space will feature technology innovations such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and VR, plus traditional games like foosball, table tennis and other activities.

MSC Euribia Ship Launches in June

MSC Cruises will officially name MSC Euribia on June 8, 2023, ceremony at Copenhagen Malmö Port. The Meraviglia-class ship will be the 22nd vessel in the MSC Cruises fleet and is under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France. MSC Euribia will be the cruise line’s second mega-ship to be powered by LNG. The first was the 6,850-guest MSC World Europa, which launched in December 2022.

Following her naming ceremony MSC Euribia will spend her inaugural season in Northern Europe, sailing 7-night cruises from Kiel, Germany, and Copenhagen to the Norwegian Fjords.

Unexpected Passenger Stows Away for a Royal Caribbean Cruise

A recent Royal Caribbean sailing aboard Symphony of the Seas had a surprising stowaway – a burrowing owl. The bird was spotted aboard the ship during the cruise, and was assisted with its debarkation when the ship returned to Miami after the two-week sailing.

Owl Stows Away Onboard

The burrowing owl, an aptly-named small raptor that nests in underground burrows, was found aboard Symphony of the Seas during a two-week sailing in January.

The bird was noticed during the sailing, but it was impossible to release the bird in a foreign location. Not only would doing so violate laws regarding the transport of wildlife, but the bird would have been in an unfamiliar habitat and unable to survive.

Instead, Florida Fish and Wildlife biologist Ricardo Zambrano came aboard the Oasis-class cruise ship after guests had debarked on January 21 and before the next sailing’s guests embarked the ship to safely capture the bird.

Crew members helped string mist nets – soft but sturdy nets used by wildlife biologists to capture birds humanely – across the Central Park area of the ship so the bird could be caught.

The crafty bird avoided many of the nets and spent time perching on balcony railings, but was eventually netted with a hand net as crew members distracted it from Zambrano’s approach. “I got lucky,” Zambrano said of the hour-long pursuit.

A Healthy Cruise Passenger

Burrowing owls typically eat insects and the occasional small lizard or rodent. While the ship’s Central Park area does have both natural and artificial trees and there likely were some insects for the bird to catch, it was underweight when it was disembarked from the cruise ship.

The owl was surrendered to wildlife officials at South Florida Wildlife Center where it was evaluated. Though skinny, the bird was uninjured and in otherwise good health. It remained at the rehabilitation facility for almost a month, fattening up on an appropriate diet before being released in Davie, Florida, approximately 25 miles (40 kilometers) north of PortMiami and in prime burrowing owl habitat.

About Burrowing Owls

The burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia) is a long-legged bird most active during the day, when it hunts on the ground or stands guard at its burrows. The birds are widespread in western North America, but also found year-round in much of south Florida and South America. They are easily identified by their sandy, spotted feathers, smoothly rounded heads, and bright yellow eyes.

Grasslands, deserts, and other open habitats are preferred by burrowing owls, and they are often seen on golf courses or in suburban habitats where conservation projects have installed artificial burrows for the birds to use.

This is not the first time a burrowing owl has enjoyed a visit to a Royal Caribbean ship. In 2010, a burrowing owl was spotted on the miniature golf course aboard Oasis of the Seas, but was quickly relocated to a more suitable inland habitat.

Sailing on Symphony of the Seas

While Symphony of the Seas may not have many amenities that will appeal to a burrowing owl outside of the open-air Central Park neighborhood, the 228,081-gross-ton ship has many amazing features guests will love.

Top picks onboard the ship’s 16 passenger decks include four pools, two FlowRider surf simulators, the 10-story Ultimate Abyss slide, a zip line, ice rink, Aquatheater, 14 specialty restaurants, the Bionic Bar, and much, much more.

Symphony of the Seas debuted in 2018, and is currently repositioning from PortMiami to Barcelona, where she will spend the summer offering Mediterranean sailings from Spain and Italy. In October, the ship will move to Fort Lauderdale to offer Caribbean sailings through the winter – but owls should plan to stay home.

Engine Issue Forces Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship to Adjust Itinerary

Passengers aboard Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas cruise ship experienced a slight delay in arrival times at Port Canaveral and Nassau due to engine issues. The captain informed guests of the mechanical limitation affecting one of the vessel’s engines, which reduced the ship’s cruising speed.

The good news is that the engine issues did not affect the ship’s seaworthiness. As a precaution, the crew lowered the ship’s speed. In a gesture of goodwill, Royal Caribbean offered onboard credit to guests equal to the value of one day of their cruise fare paid.

Anthem of the Seas Affected by Engine Issues

Anthem of the Seas, currently sailing a seven-night Bahamas itinerary, which departed New Jersey on March 5, has been forced to reduce its cruising speed due to issues that have affected one of the ship’s engines.

In a letter to guests, the cruise line reassured passengers that their safety and comfort remained the top priority. The ship’s crew was working to repair the engine issue, and the vessel remained seaworthy.

The letter states: “Our crew is currently working through the issue and making the repairs as we speak.” The good news is that the seaworthiness of the ship was not affected by the engine issues. However, the reduced speed resulted in delays in reaching the scheduled ports of call. As a precaution, the crew lowered the ship’s speed, resulting in a delayed arrival time at Port Canaveral and Nassau.”

Anthem of the Seas was due to arrive in Port Canaveral at noon on March 7, but the Quantum-class cruise ship did not plan to arrive in port until 4 PM due to the reduced speed. Similarly, the arrival to Nassau in the Bahamas was delayed by an hour on March 8.

Royal Caribbean did not specify whether the reduced cruising speed would impact the further itinerary of Anthem of the Seas. The seven-day cruise involves one more stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bahamas, on March 9, before returning to New York City. The ship has two days to make its way back to New York City.

Royal Caribbean Offers Guests Compensation

If passengers had pre-booked Royal Caribbean International shore excursions in Port Canaveral, the cruise line is automatically refunding them as an onboard credit. For those who had booked tours for Nassau, the tours would be rescheduled automatically.

As a gesture of goodwill, Royal Caribbean also gives guests a full day’s fare as onboard credit to compensate for the delayed arrivals in the two cruise ports.

Royal Caribbean said the following: “Understanding this was an unexpected change, we’re providing you with an Onboard Credit in the value of one day of your cruise fare paid. Any prepaid Royal Caribbean International shore excursions booked for Orlando (Port Canaveral) will also automatically be refunded as an Onboard Credit. These credits will be applied to your SeaPass Account and can be used anywhere onboard.”

Anthem of the Seas will continue to sail the same 7-day cruise to the Bahamas through May 1. Afterward, the vessel will embark on an 11-night transatlantic cruise from Bayonne, New Jersey.

The itinerary for the transatlantic voyage includes stops at Ponta Delgada, Azores; Cherbourg, France; Le Havre, France; and Southampton, England, where the ship is expected to arrive on May 12.

Following the transatlantic crossing, Anthem of the Seas will be based out of Southampton, England, from where it will explore Europe. The itinerary includes stops in Northern Europe, Western Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Canary Islands. The 168,666 gross tons Anthem of the Seas will return to New York in October 2023.

New Princess Cruises Mega-Ship Reaches Construction Milestone

Princess Cruises’ Sun Princess reached a construction milestone on March 8, when the ship was floated out from its dry dock facility at a Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The float-out marks a major advance in the construction of a cruise ship, as it progresses toward the completion of interior design work.

First in Sphere Class Floated Out

The 175,500 gross ton Sun Princess, the first in Princess Cruises’ new Sphere class, entered the water for the first time with her float out at the shipyard in Monfalcone. Sun Princess is the cruise line’s first ship to be dual-fuel powered, primarily by LNG, the advanced fuel technology that significantly cuts emissions and marine oil usage.

The steel-cutting for the new ship took place in September 2021 at Centro Servizi Navali, a sheet metal production specialist near Trieste, Italy. Following construction, the ship will undergo a set of sea trials before being delivered to the Carnival-owned cruise line.

“Simona is the ideal candidate to serve as Madrina of our newest ship, Sun Princess, because she embodies all the best qualities that our company has to offer – an unwavering commitment to service, hospitality and friendliness,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises. “Sun Princess will usher in an exciting new era for our company and the industry, and we can’t think of a better person to serve in this important role.”

The ship, which is the largest ever built in Italy, is the first of two sister-ships the line ordered in its new Sphere class. Both ships will accommodate 4,300 guests. Sun Princess is scheduled for delivery in early 2024, while the second, as-yet-unnamed ship, is due for completion in 2025.

Princess Cruises revealed the name of the new ship in September 2022. It will be the third in the line’s history to be called Sun Princess. The first served the cruise line from 1974-1989, while the second debuted in 1995 as one of the earliest new-builds to join the Princess fleet. It was retired from the line in 2020.

Princess Cruises, a Carnival Corporation brand with 15 ships, announced that Sun Princess will sail her 10-day Inaugural Grand Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona to Rome on February 8, 2024. Port calls include Mallorca, Spain; Messina, Sicily; Athens, Greece; Kusadasi, Turkey; Santorini, Greece, and Naples, Italy. There will be three at-sea days.

Following the ship’s debut, she will operate a full season in the Mediterranean, offering 7- to 23-night itineraries from multiple departure ports, including Barcelona, Rome, Athens, and Southampton. The ship is slated to reposition to Fort Lauderdale in November 2024.

Sun Princess Brings Interior Innovations

Princess Cruises in February revealed several innovative design details planned for Sun Princess. They include the Horizons Dining Room, which will span three decks, with each deck offering different dining options and formality levels. Natural light and a central sculpture will enhance the venue’s open spaces.

The ship’s theater, the Princess Arena, will be the fleet’s most technologically impressive and will sport a curved theater-in-the-round design with movable seats able to accommodate 1,000 guests. Sun Princess also will boast the largest casino in the Princess fleet, and offer nearly 30 restaurants and bars.

Another unique space onboard the ship is The Dome, a multi-level covered deck and glass-enclosed dome. During the day, the Dome houses an indoor/outdoor pool and at night, the pool becomes a stage, and the space is used as an entertainment venue with a South Beach vibe, according to Princess.

More From Cruise Hive

Cruise guests will choose from six stateroom categories: Signature Sky Suite, Signature Collection Suite, Cabana Mini-Suite, Deluxe Balcony, and Premium Oceanview. Signature Sky Suites and Signature Collection Suites both provide access to exclusive areas on the ship, including the Signature Restaurant, Signature Lounge and a private area of The Sanctuary, an adults-only retreat.

Royal Caribbean Makes a Huge Step Forward in The Bahamas

Royal Caribbean International will open its new Royal Beach Club resort in 2025. The 17-acre destination experience will be located at the western end of Paradise Island in Nassau, The Bahamas. The Royal Beach Club at Paradise Island will feature a combination of the island’s stunning beaches and the cruise line’s signature experiences.

The Royal Beach Club will differ significantly from the experiences guests can enjoy at Perfect Day at CocoCay; the beach club will be a destination where guests can enjoy the perfect day at the beach while enjoying Bahamian hospitality.

The beach club has been in the planning stages since 2020. The plans did not come to fruition due to the global pause in operations in 2020 and 2021.

Royal Caribbean Moves Forward with Royal Beach Club

Royal Caribbean International has announced it has received official approval from local authorities to move forward with its plans for the Royal Beach Club in Nassau, the Bahamas

The beach club will offer private cabanas, stunning pools, and more alongside the vibrant Bahamian spirit and culture. Cruise passengers will be welcomed by local architecture that complements the exceptional views of The Bahamas’ turquoise-blue waters and white sand beaches.

Experiences will feature Bahamian fare, island-style barbecues, live music, and local artisans, all designed to give guests the perfect day at the beach in the Bahamas.

Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International: “The Bahamas has been a phenomenal partner since the very start, when they became our first port of call more than 50 years ago.

“As we continue to bring millions of visitors to experience attractions throughout Nassau each year, The Royal Beach Club at Paradise Island is the next bold adventure in Royal Caribbean’s commitment to both increasing tourism in The Bahamas and delivering memorable vacations to our guests.”

Opportunities for Local Businesses

Crafted in close collaboration with the Bahamian government, the new project will be a public-private partnership, allowing Bahamians to own up to 49% equity in the beach club. Local businesses and entrepreneurs will also be able to manage most of the experience. The project is expected to generate hundreds of jobs across its construction and long-term operation.

The beach club will comprise 13 acres of land owned by the cruise line and 4 acres of government land. The government land will be contributed as equity in the new venture to ensure a share of the profits return to the government and the people.

This is a first-of-its-kind agreement in The Bahamas. In addition to a new tourism levy, profits will go into reinvesting in the local community. The collaboration between the government, the community, and Royal Caribbean will continue as the development moves through the stages of planning and completion.

What’s the Difference Between Royal Beach Club and Perfect Day?

At first, it would seem strange that Royal Caribbean would open a second private destination in the Bahamas. The cruise line already operates the hugely popular Perfect Day at CocoCay

However, the Royal Beach Club at Paradise Island and Perfect Day at Cococay are two island destinations, but they offer different experiences.

Perfect Day at Cococay is a 125-acre island in the Bahamas that features thrills and adventure. The island offers attractions like waterslides, a helium balloon ride, and the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean. Royal’s cruise ships dock here, and guests spend the day at Perfect Day.

On the other hand, Royal Beach Club will be operated much the same way as an excursion. Guests can book the Royal Beach Club as an excursion during a port call to the Bahamian capital. Guests can also choose several other activities in Nassau instead of being at Perfect Day for the entire day.
