What Thrilling Features Can You Find on Odyssey of the Seas?

The word “odyssey” means “an adventurous journey” and there are indeed many adventures awaiting guests on every journey of Odyssey of the Seas, one of Royal Caribbean’s newest and most advanced ships. How many of these thrilling features will you attempt on your next cruise?

Adventures on Odyssey of the Seas

Odyssey of the Seas is a Quantum-Ultra class ship, measuring 1,139 feet in length and weighing in at 169,379 gross tons. This provides plenty of room for amazing adventures on board, and Odyssey is packed with thrills for passengers of all ages and interests.

Classic Thrills

Royal Caribbean is well known for offering adventurous thrills on every ship in its fleet, and Odyssey of the Seas continues that tradition with several classic thrills that have come to be expected on many Royal Caribbean ships.

The first thrill Royal Caribbean ever offered is the rock wall, which was introduced in 1999 and then added to every ship in the fleet in 2002. Odyssey’s rock wall is a colorful climbing adventure located on deck 15, on the starboard side of the ship’s funnel.

Several skill levels are incorporated into the wall, and climbers of all experience levels – or no experience at all! – can climb to new heights to ring the bell at the top, signifying their success.

The FlowRider is another classic adventure first introduced by Royal Caribbean in 2006 and now widespread throughout the fleet. This 40-foot long surfing simulator lets guests catch perfect waves and show off boogie boarding and surfing skills right on deck.

The Odyssey of the Seas FlowRider is located on deck 16, aft, and offers both free surfing opportunities as well as private lessons (for a fee).

Sky Pad is a newer adventure on Royal Caribbean ships and was just introduced in 2018. This bungee trampoline offers both an open-view as well as a virtual-reality experience, and guests can choose whether to enjoy classic jumping or to engage in a high-tech adventure with the VR headset option.

Sky Pad has four jump pads to accommodate multiple guests at once, and on Odyssey of the Seas, guests will find the iconic yellow bubble that encases Sky Pad on deck 16.

Outrageous Thrills

Royal Caribbean has amped up the thrills on Odyssey with several next-level adventures that allow guests to take to the skies – literally!

North Star is the ultimate observation deck, available exclusively on Royal Caribbean’s Quantum-class ships. Odyssey of the Seas features the world’s tallest North Star pod, with the ability to extend more than 300 feet above sea level – 1.2 degrees higher than the North Star on Spectrum of the Seas, and the tallest of any cruise ship in the world.

While the observation pod operates slowly and gently to suit any passenger, the thrilling views it offers cannot be matched. North Star experiences will vary based on the ship’s itinerary and whether it is in port or not, and some experiences require additional fees. Access to North Star is on deck 15.

Guests who want an even more thrilling view can take to the skies on Ripcord by iFly, a skydiving simulator that lifts guests to new heights with the guidance of an experienced skydiving instructor.

Available exclusively on the Quantum-class ships, this flight offers just a minute of airtime in the specially designed vertical wind tunnel, but the thrilling memories last a lifetime. Guests can find the access to Ripcord by iFly on deck 15, aft, and view the wind tunnel on deck 16, just forward of FlowRider.

Guests who prefer to stay grounded in their adventures won’t want to miss the bumper cars in the SeaPlex on deck 15. This multi-use space is transformed into different adventures throughout every cruise, from pickleball tournaments to soccer shootouts, but the biggest thrill is when the electric bumper cars take the floor.

These full-size bumper cars offer full-size thrills that aren’t scaled down just because they’re on a cruise ship. The floor is generously spaced so the dozen or so cars reach top speeds and the collisions can be intense – be sure your seatbelt is fastened and all belongings are tightly secured! Rides last several generous minutes and there is no charge for the adventure.

Finding Your Odyssey of Thrills

With so many adventures on available, everyone can be thrilled at this new ship – and this list doesn’t cover nearly every thrill on board!

Don’t miss the interactive video game arcade, the robot bartenders, Splashaway Bay, the deck games, multi-sensory high-tech shows, and other thrills onboard, not to mention the thrilling destinations Odyssey of the Seas visits, including top ports of call and Perfect Day at CocoCay!

Where will your odyssey of adventures take you with Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas?

Disclaimer – Cruise Hive was invited to participate in a complimentary 2-night trade sailing of Odyssey of the Seas to explore the ship’s thrills firsthand, but that experience in no way influences the impressions made of the ship or the recommendations made in various articles.

Following its recent successful launch in the U.S., this new athlete investor line-up will be an active part of shaping the future of Virgin Voyages and the experiences it offers.

Athlete Involvement in Cruises

P/Co will work with Virgin Voyages to establish an Athlete Advisory Council, which will play an active role in designing experiences to ensure the Virgin Voyages sailings are distinct from other cruise vacations.

The new all-star lineup includes Venus Williams, Blake Griffin, Kemba Walker, Travis Kelce, CC Sabathia, Xavien Howard, George Kittle, and Trea Turner, among other amazing athletes.

Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, says, “Launching Virgin Voyages has been an incredible journey and it’s exciting to align with superstar athletes who bring undeniable energy and ideas to Virgin Voyages as we expand our fleet globally. It was so much fun welcoming some of them on board Scarlet Lady earlier this year and sharing the wonderful experience on board the ship.”

The athletes will work collaboratively with the brand to develop new on-board experiences in line with Virgin’s unique approach to cruising, as well as on sustainability initiatives given the focus brought by Richard Branson and Virgin globally on this important issue.

Venus Williams, tennis champion and entrepreneur, says, “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Virgin Voyages and helping to bring this incredible experience to the US. Traveling and taking in different cultures is so important to me and I’m excited to work with this team to deliver that opportunity to more customers.”

Virgin Voyages is Finally Sailing

The first ship from Virgin Voyages, Scarlet Lady, set sail on her maiden voyage on October 6, 2021, from Miami. The ship is currently offering 4- and 5-night Caribbean sailings from PortMiami, with ports of call in Nassau, Bimini, Cozumel, Costa Maya, and the Dominican Republic.

Virgin Voyages’ second ship, Valiant Lady, will sail seven-night Mediterranean
itineraries out of Barcelona, Spain when she debuts in 2022. The third ship, Resilient Lady, is scheduled to be completed in August 2022, and a fourth ship has also been ordered.

Third LNG Carnival Vessel to Be Named Carnival Jubilee and Based in Texas

Carnival Cruise Line has announced that its third Excel-class LNG-powered vessel will be named Carnival Jubilee, and the new ship will be based out of Galveston in Texas. The new mega-ship will debut in 2023 and is the sister ship to Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration.

Carnival Jubilee Will Homeport in Galveston

The Miami-based cruise line continues to rename its new Excel-class cruise ships after its former older vessels. The third ship in the new generation class will be named Carnival Jubilee, 37 years after the original Carnival Jubilee cruise ship, which first entered service in 1986 and was part of the Holiday-class.

“Carnival was the first cruise line to offer year-round cruising from Galveston in 2000, and we have continued to grow our presence and support of the Port of Galveston’s expansion, so we are thrilled to bring our brand-new Carnival Jubilee to Texas and the greater southwest region,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “This beautiful, innovative ship will bring an entirely new cruise experience to our guests, and we’ve got some great surprises to fun it up in ways we know they are going to love.”

The third Excel-class vessel will be identical to her sister ships and fully powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). The ship will be 182,800 gross tons and have a guest capacity of more than 5,400 at double occupancy, along with 1,700 international crew members.

Carnival Jubilee will have the BOLT roller coaster, first introduced on sister ship Mardi Gras in 2020. There will also be expanded dining offerings, new cabin designs, and a main central three-deck atrium, just like her sister ships.

Carnival Jubilee Based in Texas

It’s also been revealed that Carnival Jubilee will be based out of the Port of Galveston in Texas when she debuts in 2023. It will be the largest ever Carnival cruise ship to ever sail from Galveston and follows the original vessel that also sailed from the port.

The news was teased and announced at the annual CruiseWorld travel advisor conference in Miami Beach, Florida. When Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy revealed the news, she was joined on stage by a seven-foot cowboy.

Duffy said, “We love Texas, and Texas loves Carnival. Galveston is one of our most popular homeports, and we draw guests to Texas from across the Midwest, southwest and western U.S. Bringing a brand-new ship to a market is a big commitment, and it’s one we gladly make for the greater Galveston community and entire region.”

The original Celebration (also the name of the second Excel-class vessel Carnival Celebration) was the first year-round ship in Galveston in 2000, and the original Jubilee followed her in 2002. The new Excel class, at four times larger than the original ship, will bring new exciting cruise options for Texans and beyond.

Carnival Jubilee will be sailing on seven-day western Caribbean itineraries from the Port of Galveston. The bookings will open in early 2022, and the cruise line will release more specific itinerary details by that time.

Mardi Gras was the first in the new LNG-powered Excel class in 2020 and is based in Port Canaveral. Carnival Celebration will be the second ship in the class and will debut in 2022 from Miami for the cruise line’s 50th Birthday celebrations.

First Fantasy-Class Carnival Cruise Ship Receives New Livery

Carnival Paradise becomes the first Fantasy-class Carnival cruise ship to receive the new red, white and blue livery design during dry dock and the eighth in the fleet overall. The vessel is now all shiny and fresh ready to welcome back guests in Spring 2022.

Carnival Paradise Completes Dry Dock

Carnival Cruise Line is now well underway with its fleetwide rollout of the new red, white and blue livery. Carnival Paradise becomes the latest ship to receive the new hull design and the first in the Fantasy class. It’s the first time this type of ship has been seen with the new hull design and thanks to the perfect capture from Million Dreams to Follow.

The livery was painted onto the ship during a dry dock at the Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain. The ship first entered the dock on October 10, 2021, and moved back to the wet dock on October 22.

In addition to the new livery, there was also routine hotel maintenance and cosmetic enhancements. This typically includes new tiling where needed, carpeting, and minor changes in different departments onboard.

The Carnival cruise ship, which first entered service in 1998, has now completed a total of nice dry docks over its lifetime, with 2018 being the biggest due to all the new FUN 2.0 enhancements that were added. With the vessel currently the fourth oldest in the fleet, there may not be many more dry docks to come.

Carnival Paradise remains in Cadiz, Spain and it’s not yet known when she will head back over to the U.S. The ship is not scheduled to restart until Spring 2022, one of the last few to do so. So far, 13 Carnival cruise ships have already resumed operations.

The new livery design on the Fantasy-class vessel is inspired by the navy blue officer uniforms and the Iconic Carnival colors on the funnel. Carnival Magic was the first ship to receive the new design during a dry dock that took place in Marseilles, France, in July and early June.

Since Carnival Magic’s dry dock, a further seven ships have received the new look, including the newly transformed Carnival Radiance, which just recently arrived back in the U.S.

The new Mardi Gras also features the hull artwork, which was added during construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. Next up on the new livery front is the Carnival Sunshine. The vessel is currently receiving the latest look at the shipyard in Cadiz, Spain.

Carnival Paradise is 71,925 gross tone with a guest capacity of 2,124 at double occupancy. Currently, the ship is scheduled to begin cruises in early March out of Tampa, Florida. Carnival Cruise Line will no doubt confirm more details as part of a future restart update.

Captain Kate McCue to Take the Helm of New Celebrity Cruise Ship

The Celebrity Cruises female captain that’s taking social media by storm is to take the helm of the cruise line’s new cruise ship, Celebrity Beyond. Captain Kate McCue will take control of the new vessel when it debuts in Spring 2022.

Celebrity Beyond Captain

Captain Kate McCue, who has more than 3.5 million follows across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, has already been breaking records as the first American female to captain a major cruise ship. She’s now going to be the captain for Celebrity Cruises’ newest cruise ship, Celebrity Beyond.

The famous captain will take the helm when the new vessel debuts in Spring 2022. Celebrity Beyond’s maiden voyage will depart on April 27, 2022, from Southampton, England, for a 10-night Western European cruise including calls at Bordeaux, France; Lisbon, Portugal; and Seville, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, and Barcelona, Spain.

“This is a day that I’ve been waiting for since we made the first cut of steel on our beautiful Celebrity Beyond. Captain Kate has transcended what it means to be a captain as a voice and example of inclusivity, diversity, and change,” said Celebrity Cruises President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo.

“She constantly thinks about how she can go above and beyond, mirroring the exceptional design and imagination of the ship she will captain. I’m beyond excited to see her take our guests to locations that will open their eyes to the beauty of the world around them and experience travel on a new-luxury ship without comparison.”

In 2015, McCue became the first American female captain when she took the helm of the Celebrity Summit. Since then, she’s also been the captain of Celebrity Equinox and the new Celebrity Edge in 2019. While on the first Edge-class vessel, she also captained the ship’s first-ever all-female bridge team.

“To be the ‘take out’ captain for a new vessel is an honor for any captain and it is an absolute dream  come true for me. I always say that if you see it, you can be it and I hope that Celebrity Beyond sails as an inspiration for all to see past convention in pursuit of any goal in life,” said Captain Kate McCue. “I’m forever grateful to Lisa for entrusting this labor of love to me to captain. The thoughtfulness and imagination she put into this ship is only matched by her forward thinking to move the industry beyond what it is now and see what it should be.”

She will take her celebrity status to the new Celebrity Beyond, as the ship will offer a variety of Mediterranean journeys, including nine-night Italian Riviera and France itineraries and 10-night Greek Isles itineraries through early October. The flagship will also begin Caribbean cruises following the Inaugural season.

Celebrity Beyond is currently in the final stages of construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. Once completed, the third Edge-class cruise ship will be 140,600 gross tons with a guest capacity of 3,260 along with 1,400 crew members from 60 countries.

Former Carnival Ship Purchased by Century Cruises Heads for Scrapyard

It was looking good that the former Carnival cruise ship named Carnival Fascination was to begin sailing for new owner Century Cruises in China. However, it’s now looking like the ship will become the fourth Fantasy-class vessel to be scrapped.

Former Carnival Fascination Heads for Alang Scrapyard

The hope was that at least one of the former Carnival cruise ships would be saved and keep sailing, but that’s now looking unlikely after Century Harmony (formerly Carnival Fascination) set its course for Alang in India. When any ship has a final destination of Alang, it’s almost certain that the vessel will be scrapped.

According to the Cruise Ship Tracker, the vessel is currently at anchor in Singapore. The track shows the final destination of Alang, India, with its arrival on October 28, 2021.

Alang is on the country’s west coast and is home to the ship-breaking facility, which has become more popular recently due to ships being sold for scrap due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Century Harmony Cruise Ship

Century Harmony was purchased from Carnival Cruise Line in 2020, when the global suspension on cruise operations had a significant impact. Carnival Corporation needed to offload some of its older vessels to reduce costs and raise capital.

Century Harmony’s new operator, Century Cruises, planned to operate the ship after undergoing a refurbishment in China that started in May 2021. Light work had already begun not long after the vessel departed Cadiz, Spain, and work on the ship’s new name was being done during a call in Gibraltar while heading for China at the end of 2020.

Century Harmony Cruise Ship

The sad news is that it seems Century Cruises has now decided to sell the vessel for scrap. It’s not known why the Chinese cruise line decided to offload the former Carnival cruise ship. With steel prices sky high at the moment, that could have impacted the decision.

The cruise ship will become the fourth Fantasy-class vessel to be sold for scrap due to the pandemic. Carnival Cruise Line sold Carnival Fantasy, the first to be beached at Turkey’s Aliaga ship-breaking facility. In the months following, she was joined by Carnival Inspiration and Carnival Imagination.

There have also been other former Carnival ships that have reached the end of the line during the difficult times, including Grand Celebration (formerly Celebration), which was operated by Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, and Magellan (formerly Holiday), which was operated by the now defunct Cruise & Maritime Voyages.

Carnival Fascination is set to join all the other former Carnival ships and that will be the end of the cruise ship that has brought so many memories to guests over the years.

The Fantasy-class cruise ship is 70,367 gross tons with a guest capacity of over 2,000 along with 920 crew members. The ship was built in Finland and entered service for Carnival in 1994.

Sixth Carnival Cruise Ship Receives New Livery and Heading for U.S.

Carnival Cruise Line continues to move forward with its new livery across the fleet as Carnival Liberty becomes the sixth ship in the fleet to don the new colors after dry dock. The vessel is currently headings back towards the U.S. with its new look and some other minor enhancements.

Carnival Liberty Completes Minor Dry Dock

The newly upgraded Carnival Liberty is heading back to the U.S. after becoming the sixth ship in the fleet to receive the new livery during dry dock. The vessel went into dry dock at the shipyard in Cadiz, Spain, on September 14, and during this time, the new red, white and blue livery design was added.

The livery, which has already been added to five other Carnival ships and the new Mardi Gras during construction, is inspired by the Carnival colors featured on the iconic ship funnel. The livery will continue to be rolled across the fleet, including the transformed Carnival Radiance, which will leave the shipyard this month.

Carnival Legend was the previouis ship to receive the new livery after completing its dry dock in Marseilles, France in early September. The Spisirt-class vessel has already returned to the the U.S. to prepare for operations out of Baltimore in November 2021.

Some other enhancements also took place on the Carnival Liberty, including routine maintenance and things such as carpeting, tiling, and painting to freshen up the ship. The Conquest-class vessel left the dry dock on September 28 and has also already departed Cadiz.

According to the Cruise Ship Tracker, the Carnival Liberty is in the central North Atlantic Ocean and will arrive in Miami, Florida, on September 15, 2021. Despite the ship being refreshed, she will remain on hold into 2022 and not among the ships to resume operations by the end of 2021.

Currently, the earliest sailing for the Carnival Liberty is January 3, 2022. However, Carnival Cruise Line has not yet announced its restart plan for the vessel, so the restart date could change. The January 3 departure is out of Port Canaveral and a 4-day itinerary including calls at Nassau and Freeport in the Bahamas.

Carnival Liberty is a 110,000 gross-ton cruise ship with a guest capacity of 2,974 at double occupancy along with 1,160 international crew members. At the moment, Carnival ships are sailing at 70% capacity, but by the time Carnival Liberty resumes operations, that could change.

The ship’s previous refurbishment took place in December 2016, and that too was just a minor maintenance service. Carnival Liberty’s most extensive upgrade took place in 2011 as the ship was the first in the fleet to feature all the popular FUN 2.0 enhancements, including Guy’s Burger Joint and the Alchemy Bar.

Bonine vs. Dramamine: Which is Better for Motion Sickness?

Do you suffer from motion sickness while you are trying to enjoy your vacation? One in three people suffers from motion sickness with women and children most at risk. Your brain can’t make sense of what is going on and you feel queasy, clammy, and sick to your stomach.

So what can you do the help ease motion sickness during a cruise? If you are traveling to your favorite vacation hotspot this year, you may worry about motion sickness ruining your getaway.

Bonine and Dramamine are both common remedies for motion sickness on cruise ships, but which one is best? This will depend on a number of factors including age, health conditions, and personal preference. Read on for a detailed comparison and guide on Bonine vs. Dramamine.

What Is Motion Sickness?

Motion sickness is the sick feeling triggered by movement. This can occur when traveling in a plane, boat, or car to name a few. It is an imbalance between what your brain sees and feels.

Your body is standing still yet the vehicle you are in is moving forwards. This confusion between your brain and body is what causes you to feel sick. Other symptoms can include:

  • Cold Sweats
  • Headaches
  • Pale Skin
  • Irritability
  • Dizziness
  • Vomiting

The symptoms of motion sickness will cease when you stop moving. In rare cases, it can be caused by inner ear problems. Speak to your doctor if you have any concerns.

Remedies for Seasickness

There are lots of remedies for seasickness ranging from natural to medicinal. Prevention is always the better option where possible. Some of the things you can do to prevent motion sickness include:

  • Looking at the horizon or a fixed object
  • Sitting in the front of the boat
  • Remedies such as ginger, peppermint, or acupressure

If natural remedies do not work for you and you cannot prevent your seasickness, then medication may be the only option for you. Medication is the most effective way to remedy motion sickness.

If you are a first-time cruiser, you might get caught off guard when you suffer the effects of seasickness. The good news is that most travelers will get their “sea legs” and seasickness will subside. For passengers who continue to feel seasick, trying some of these remedies can help you enjoy your cruise.

What Is Bonine?

Bonine is a motion sickness pill that contains the active ingredient Meclizine hydrochloride. It contains an antihistamine that can treat nausea in association with motion sickness. Bonine has been the most popular choice for cruisers due to its minimal dosage.

The suggested dose is one pill taken an hour before travel commences. The pills are chewable but you can take them without chewing if you wish. It is also used for diseases that affect the inner ear.

What Is Dramamine?

Dramamine (also known as Dimenhydrinate) also contains an antihistamine used to treat or prevent nausea. It reduces the effects of the chemical histamine in the body. Taking Dramamine can treat or prevent feelings of seasickness.

To prevent seasickness, Dramamine should be taken half an hour to an hour before boarding. It is recommended to take 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours after the first dose. You cannot take more than 8 tablets in a 24-hour window.

Dramamine is available in an original motion sickness pill or a less drowsy chewable tablet. The chewable tablet can last up to 24 hours. Consuming alcohol and operating heavy machinery are not advised while taking either of these pills.

What Are the Side Effects?

Side effects are specific to the individual. Ask your pharmacist for more details if you have any concerns. Some common side effects for Bonine and Dramamine include:

  • Drowsiness
  • Headaches
  • Dry Nose/Throat

It is unlikely that you will experience any side effects while taking Bonine or Dramamine. Dramamine is more likely to cause drowsiness as it is stronger than Bonine. If you are worried, speak to your doctor before taking any medication.

Bonine vs. Dramamine

When you are packing for your vacation, you need to know which medication will be best for you. Both medications can treat and prevent motion sickness, but which one is best?

Although both medications are similar, it is worth looking at which medicine will work best for your needs.

Dosage and Strength

Both Bonine and Dramamine can be taken as preventative measures for seasickness. You can take either up to one hour before boarding though Bonine only requires one dose in 24 hours. If you prefer to take a single dose rather than several doses then Bonine would be the best option for you.

Dramamine has been available since the 1940s and was the favorite remedy for motion sickness until many consumers found it made them feel drowsy. Dramamine’s original formula is a 50mg tablet of dimenhydrinate which can cause drowsiness. Dramamine is more effective than Bonine at treating seasickness but less convenient due to its frequent dosing.

Many travelers who vacation on cruise lines take both types of medicine with them. If you like to be active during the daytime, using Dramamine at night and Bonine during the day may be the best option to avoid drowsiness.

Which Is Better?

How do you choose between Bonine vs. Dramamine? Both medicines have their advantages and disadvantages but choosing which one you should take will come down to your individual needs. Both pills are available in a sweet, chewable form which you may find easier to take in comparison to an ordinary pill.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you love boat travel but suffer from seasickness then you may have lots of questions on how to prevent seasickness in the first place. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about Bonine vs. Dramamine.

What Is the Difference in Price?

There is not much difference in cost. Bonine works out less expensive than Dramamine but this is because the dosage is less per day. If you are lactose intolerant or plan to consume alcohol then you should stick to natural remedies only.

Who Can Use Bonine and Dramamine?

Bonine is recommended for anyone aged 12 and above. Dramamine can be taken by children as young as two years old. People with a history of health conditions such as thyroid dysfunction and cardiovascular disease should proceed with caution and speak to a doctor before taking either of the medicines.

It is uncommon for children under the age of 9 to experience motion sickness. If you are unsure about whether you should use Bonine or Dramamine with your child you should speak to your pediatrician.

Always consult a doctor before taking any medication. If you are pregnant, suffer from glaucoma, or any other health conditions you should seek a doctor’s advice before taking seasickness tablets.

What Types of Ships Are Best for Avoiding Seasickness?

Most cruise liners are built for smooth sailing. When you are booking any type of boat travel you should choose the largest boat you can. A larger boat means more stability and less motion.

If you are planning on diving at your vacation hot spot then try to choose dive sites that are closer to shore.

Preventing Motion Sickness

If you anticipate that you will suffer from seasickness or motion sickness during your vacation, then there are some preventative measures you can take before you start to feel unwell.

Take Care of Your Body

Alcohol is not recommended alongside Bonine or Dramamine. It is also not advisable to dive if you have been under the influence of alcohol or new medication. Make sure you stay hydrated and avoid eating heavy meals.

Eating a light meal an hour before you board will help prevent seasickness.

Use Natural Remedies

If you are unable to take the original versions of Bonine and Dramamine then there are more natural alternatives. Bonine ginger soft gels are a more natural alternative to the full strength formula. They use ginger root to treat the symptoms of seasickness.

Dramamine non-drowsy also contains ginger root and is an alternative to their original or chewable options. Consuming ginger tea, ginger candies or ginger ale can help soothe your stomach if you start to feel unwell.

Acupressure bands use pressure points to alleviate feelings of nausea. You can also obtain a prescription for a seasickness patch which reduces activity in the inner ear. The patch slowly releases the drug scopolamine which affects the central nervous system.

Enjoy Your Cruise Without Seasickness

Now that you know the differences between Bonine vs. Dramamine you can make an informed choice as to which one is right for you. You should always try to take preventative measures where possible to ward of motion sickness.
