How to Get From LAX to Long Beach Port for a Cruise

If you’re flying into Los Angeles to take a cruise out of Long Beach, getting from the airport to the cruise terminal can be challenging. Depending on which route you take, the airport is between 22 and 26 miles from the cruise terminal, so you definitely can’t walk.

Fortunately, this is LA, and there are plenty of transportation options for you to choose from. We’ll cover all of the options for you in this article, as well as the different routes that can be taken from LAX to Long Beach Port.

Routes

Before you choose your transportation, it’s helpful to know what route you’ll be taking. There are three main routes that people choose, although if you’re using Google maps you may be directed along neighborhood roads and scenic routes to avoid traffic.

I-405

This is the shortest route, which makes it the most popular. Beginning at LAX (1 World Way, LA, CA, 90045), you will take World Way out to S Sepulveda Blvd. World Way is a one-way street, and the only road into or out of LAX, so don’t worry about getting on the wrong road. World Way only allows you to drive on one direction, and you’ll either keep driving in circles or get on the exit for Sepulveda.

From S Sepulveda, use the middle lane to take the ramp for I-105 East, and then use the right lane on I-105 to take exit 2 for I-405. Keep right at the fork to stay on 405 S toward Long Beach. After 13 miles you’ll take exit 32B onto I-710 south, and then take exit 1A onto Harbor Scenic drive. Then just follow the signs directing you to the cruise terminal.

I-105E

This route begins just like the last one, except instead of taking exit 2 off I-105 onto I-405, you stay on I-105 a bit longer. After driving on I-105E for about six miles, use the right two lanes to merge onto I-110 south. You’ll continue on I-110 for a bit over 4 miles and then use the right three lanes to merge onto I-405 south. From here on out the route is the same is the last one.

I-105E and I-710S

Again, this route starts by getting onto I-105E from the airport. This time you’ll stay on I-105 for twelve miles before taking exit 13 to merge onto I-710S toward Long Beach. Then it’s a straight shot to the harbor, where you’ll take exit 1A and follow the same instructions we laid out for the first route.

Most people plan on taking the I-405 route, but sometimes the other routes, while longer in terms of distance, will have light traffic. Check your map app before you leave the airport to see which route is currently the fastest.

Transportation Options

Now that you know how to get from the airport to the cruise terminal, it’s time to take a look at the different transportation options available to you. There are a lot of options you can choose from, and we’ll try to give you all the information you need to make the best choice.

Rental Cars

LAX, like any major airport, has rental car services readily available. If you’re flying in the same day that your cruise is leaving, a rental car may not be worth it. Many people, though, choose to fly in a day or two in advance so there’s no risk of a flight delay causing them to miss their cruise.

If that’s the case, a rental gives you a lot of freedom to explore LA and Long Beach before your cruise leaves. If you like, you can even park the car in the parking garage at the cruise port while you’re on the ship.

The cost of a rental car is often much less than people expect, and rideshare services like Uber and Lyft can be very expensive, since they increase their prices during times of high traffic including the routes from LAX to Long Beach Port.

It’s worth it to check on the rental car prices. Select the rental service you prefer to use and check with them to see what it would cost to pick up the car at LAX at the beginning of your trip and drop it off at the end.

If you go this route, you will also have to pay for parking in the parking garage at the cruise port terminal. There are no place at the port to drop off a rental car, so that isn’t an option. You’ll have to park it somewhere, and the parking garage costs $17 per day (that price does fluctuate, though).

Or, if you’re arriving early and you’ve booked a hotel, many of the hotels offer free parking for the duration of your cruise if you book with them. Check with your hotel; you may just have free parking.

Uber

Uber is the most popular ride share service, and that means that you will almost always be able to find a driver nearby. Using Uber is dead simple; download the app if you don’t already have it, and add a payment method. Then you select a destination and request a ride (your phone should automatically supply your current location.

Uber has a base fee for each ride, and then charges you both by the minute and by the mile. In other words, there is one minimum fee you will always pay, and then the remainder of the cost is based on how long the ride lasts and how much distance is covered. The nice thing about this is that you pay for the whole car, not per person. In most of the airport shuttles, you are paying per person.

You’ll pay just under $30 on average for an Uber ride from LAX to the Long Beach Cruise terminal. Remember, though, that Uber’s pricing increases during times of high demand. That means you could be paying significantly more than that.

If you’re traveling by yourself, or there are only two or three people in your party, Uber may not be cheaper than a shuttle. It will still offer more convenience, though. Uber comes when you call, and in a busy airport like LAX there’s likely to be an Uber nearby all the time. Shuttles leave on a predetermined schedule, and they often make multiple stops at different terminals, hotels, and possibly even another airport before taking you to your destination.

Lyft

Lyft works the same way as Uber, and calculates your payment the same way, too. It usually isn’t much different in price; it’s a little bit cheaper, averaging around $26 to get from LAX to the Long Beach Cruise terminal.

Just like Uber, Lyft will increase its rates during times of high demand, so the cost may be much higher. It usually doesn’t increase them as much as Uber does, and when demand is high the price gap between Uber and Lyft may be significant.

A lot of people consider Lyft to be less safe than Uber, though there isn’t any evidence to support that. What is true is that Lyft has less stringent standards for the cars their drivers use, allowing older models than Uber will. They also often encourage their drivers to allow passengers to sit in the front seat, creating a more casual, “friendly” atmosphere. Some people like this, others find it very offputting.

That said, most Lyft drivers also drive for Uber, so in practice, there are rarely any real differences in the quality of the ride.

According to RideGuru prices start from $38 from LAX to the Long Beach Port. It will depend on the type of vehicle chosen. Take a look here.

Taxis

Taxi is a lot more expensive than Uber or Lyft at over $85. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider it, though. There are taxis waiting outside baggage claim at every terminal at LAX, so they can be even easier to find than Uber/Lyft, and if you’re in a rush that might be important.

For a lot of people, taxis offer more peace of mind, too. Uber and Lyft drivers are just people looking to make extra money, and just about anybody can do it. Both companies vet their drivers, but at the end of the day using those services can often feel like paying a random stranger to drive you around.

Taxi drivers feel more professional, and seem to have more oversight. In short, taxis seem safer to many people. If that’s the case, the extra cost might worth it. There are usually plenty of taxis at the airport, too, since it’s a busy airport in a major city. You shouldn’t have to wait long at all to get a taxi, so if you’re in a hurry, they might be the best option.

Bus

The bus route from LAX to the Long Beach Cruise Port costs $9 per person. For smaller parties, it’s almost certainly the cheapest way to get there. Few people choose to do it, though, because it will take a long time.

When there’s little to no traffic, it’s an hour and half bus ride. that’s because it involves a minimum of two different bus routes. Depending on the bus you take and the time you get on it, you may also have to fit a train ride in, too. There are two bus stops in LAX, one at Terminal 1 and another at Terminal 4.

It’s an option, and if there’s only two of you, or if you’re traveling alone, it will definitely save you money from LAX to Long Beach Port. It just won’t be fast, and may not be all that convenient, either.

Shuttles

Airport shuttles might be the most popular choice for getting from LAX to the Cruise terminal. They aren’t typically the cheapest, and they charge per person, which can quickly drive the price up. So, why the popularity?

Convenience, mostly. Many companies allow you to schedule your pickup in advance, which means the shuttle is usually waiting for you when you arrive. Mostly though, it’s about the luggage.

Uber and Lyft drivers are using their personal cars, and while they both offer larger vehicles for larger parties, a family of four going on a week-long cruise may be worried about fitting their luggage into the car. The same goes for taxis. On a bus, you have to carry you luggage with you, and that gets old fast.

Shuttles, meanwhile, have plenty of room for your whole family and all of their luggage. They’re hassle-free and easy to find. Many of them also offer rides to Disneyland, so if yo have time before or after your cruise you can add that on.

Carnival has it’s own airport shuttles, too. These cost $30 per person, one way. So a total of $60 per person. Clearly, these get expensive fast. They also can only take you directly from the airport to the cruise line, and will only run on the day that you are boarding your ship. If you are flying in early, the Carnival shuttles are not an option (private shuttles companies are, though).

The advantage of the Carnival shuttles is that, if you are flying in the same day your ship leaves, it’s easy to book and find the shuttle. You might even be able find a package deal with the shuttle built in to the price of the trip.

Independent Shuttles/Car Services

The cruise line and airport shuttle services aren’t the only game in town. Los Angeles is home to a huge number of shuttle and car services, and these are often a much better deal for larger groups. In fact, you will usually get a better rate if booking for a larger group than a smaller one.

The only downside to these is that, because there are so many of them, there are bound to be some less-than-dependable ones. Do your research and pay attention to customer reviews before booking a shuttle. Most of these services will also expect you to tip the driver.

These shuttle services can usually take you to multiple locations. You can have them take you to the cruise terminal or the hotel, or many of them will run to the major local tourist spots, too.

Hotel Shuttles

If you’re flying in early and spending a night or two in a hotel, check and see if they have a shuttle service. A lot of the hotels in Long Beach do, and they can pick you up at the airport and take you to the cruise terminal. These shuttles are almost always free, too, so if the hotel offers it, you should definitely take advantage of it.

LAX to Long Beach Port Conclusion

One of the best things about taking a cruise out of Long Beach is that the airport and cruise terminal is set up to make it very easy for travelers to get from the airport to the cruise port and back. There are plenty of options, catering to all kinds of needs.

Passengers flying in the day their ships can book a ride with Carnival’s own shuttle service and rest assured that they have a ride that will get them to the terminal in plenty of time for them to board the ship. Airport shuttle services are also available to take you there, although they may have a few more stops along the way.

Hotel shuttle services, if you’ve booked a hotel in Long Beach, are possibly the best transportation choice, since they’re free. The only catch is that these can only be used if you’ve booked a hotel room, and not everybody does that.

Uber and Lyft are growing in popularity when it comes to LAX to Long Beach Port and will probably surpass shuttle services as the most popular way to get from the airport to the cruise terminal soon if they haven’t already.

They offer a lot of conveniences since there are usually plenty of them hanging around both the airport and the cruise port, and they don’t charge per person like most of the shuttle services do. For a lot of people, rideshares are the only transport they’ll use on a vacation, and for good reason. They’re affordable, and they can pick you up and drop you off anywhere.

Because this is Los Angeles, and there are huge crowds of tourists coming into the area daily, private shuttle and car services are abundant, too. These can be more expensive than rideshares, but the customer service may be better and the drivers are trained professionals. Shuttles of all kinds also typically have much more room for luggage, so larger groups or people leaving on a longer cruises may need to choose a shuttle over a car.

Finally, if you have the time and not much luggage, the bus is an option. It isn’t a great option, but it is an option.

The mode of transport you choose really depends on your personal preferences and when you fly in. If you’re flying in the day your cruise leaves, you may not have another choice but to use Carnival’s shuttles, since they are guaranteed to get you to the Cruise on time. And, if the shuttle is delayed, the ship is more likely to wait for it’s own shuttles than for an Uber.

Other than that, the things to consider are cost, convenience, and your own comfort. We can’t recommend one type of transportation to everyone, because these are all personal preferences. Instead, you’ll have to use the information here to make the best choice for yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a taxi from LAX to Long Beach cruise port?

The average cost for a taxi ride from LAX to Long Beach cruise port is $87. That’s an average, so it may be higher or lower. Taxi prices don’t vary as much as rideshare prices, though, so that number is fairly reliable.

How far is it from LAX to Long Beach port?

The distance depends on which route you take. The shortest driving route is 22.4 miles, while the longest is just over 26 miles.

How long is the drive from Long Beach to LAX?

That depends on the route you take, and how much traffic there is. With normal traffic, it’s a 30-35 minute drive.

Which cruise lines leave from Long Beach?

Carnival is the only cruise line that leaves from Long Beach. The World Cruise center nearby is home to more cruise lines, but is in San Pedro, not Long Beach. The Long Beach Cruise Terminal is owned by Carnival, and used exclusively by that line.

What’s the cheapest way of getting to the Long Beach Cruise Terminal?

If it’s just one or two people, the bus is the cheapest way. For three or more people, Uber or Lyft will usually be the cheapest, followed by the taxi. Private shuttles may be able to rival Uber or Lyft’s prices sometimes, so it’s worth checking with them. Airport or Carnical shuttles are the most expensive.

If you’ve booked a hotel with a shuttle service, that shuttle is free and will pick you up at the airport and take you to the hotel, then take you from the hotel to the cruise port. This is the cheapest choice for you if you have already booked a hotel room at a hotel that offers a shuttle service.

Can Uber pick you up from LAX?

Yes, Uber can pick you up at LAX. Request the ride at the outer island curb on the arrivals level.

What’s the best way to get from LAX to the Long Beach Cruise Terminal?

That will depend heavily on the size of the group you’re traveling with, when you are arriving, and how much luggage you have. Large parties with lots of luggage will have little choice but to use a shuttle, as taxis and Ubers won’t have enough room available.

Smaller parties will probably find Uber or Lyft preferable because they’ll save money and the ride will be more comfortable. If your flight lands on the same day that your cruise leaves, the Carnival shuttles are probably the best choice, even if they are more expensive.

Can I take the bus from LAX to the Long Beach Cruise Terminal?

Yes, but it will take at least an hour and half to get there, and you will have to change busses at least once, all while carrying your luggage.

Royal Caribbean Founder Dies at the Age of 87

The founder of Miami-based Royal Caribbean Edwin W. Stephan has sadly died at the age of 87.

Edwin W Stephan, Royal Caribbean Founder Dies

We are sad to report that Edwin W. Stephan who founded the now popular Royal Caribbean has passed away at the age of 87. Without this legendary man, the cruise industry would not be where it is today. He took the industry into a new era of cruise ships and changed the way we cruise forever.

He was the cruise line’s first president for 27 years and then he served as the vice-chairman of the board of directors until he retired in 2003. He helped grow Royal Caribbean into one of the leading cruise brands.

Richard Fain, chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, said:

“Ed Stephan started this company with a passion for innovation and those two terms – passion and innovation – remain core to Royal Caribbean’s culture today.”

“He was an inspiration and a great friend to many in the company. He was an honorable man who loved his family, his work, and his community.  Our company and our industry are in debt to the size of his dreams, the keenness of his vision, and the kindness of his leadership.”

The native Wisconsin man envisioned an innovative cruise line in the early 60s that would change the industry. He dreamed of ships sailing year-round cruises from Miami, Florida. It all became reality when the first vessel out of three named Song of Norway set sail from Port of Miami on November 7, 1970. She had a passenger capacity of 724.

Even before the first ship, Stephans worked hard on turning his idea into reality. He met with three Norwegian builders in 1968 and then Royal Caribbean was formed in January 1969.

Fain added:

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to Ed’s loving wife, Helen, and the children he adored, Michael,  Samantha, Gary and Kristin.”

“He will be deeply missed by all of us here, by his many friends, and by our community.”

Stephens was also the man who introduced the Viking Crown Lounge, an iconic feature located at the top of the vessel around 200 feet above the waterline.

Our condolences go out to Edwin W. Stephan’s family and friends and we must thank him for bringing us innovative new cruise ships to the industry and helping transform the Port of Miami skyline into what it is today.

A family only service will be held to honor Ed’s memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Edwin Stephan to be made to Mount Sinai Miami Medical Center Foundation in honor of his physician, Eugene J. 8 Must-Know Things About the Long Beach Cruise Terminal

If you’re planning a cruise along the West Coast, odds are you’ll be leaving from the Long Beach Cruise Terminal in Long Beach, CA. It isn’t the only cruise terminal on the West Coast, but it’s one of the biggest and busiest.

Over 300 cruises depart from this terminal each year, which means hundreds of thousands of passengers come through it. Fortunately, because it’s so large, Carnival has found plenty of way to streamline and simplify the process of check-in and boarding, so once you arrive everything should be pretty straightforward.

Whether you’re cruising down to Mexico or out to Hawaii, Long Beach is your starting point. With so many people going through the terminal, there are bound to be lots of questions. First-time cruisers, especially, probably want to know as much as they can learn before they arrive at the terminal.

Whether you want to know more about the facilities, or you have questions about which ships leave from Long Beach, we’ve got you covered.

1. Cruise Lines that Sail from the Long Beach Cruise Terminal

One of the first things that people will often ask is which cruise lines sail from the Long Beach Terminal. Carnival is the only cruise line that uses this terminal. Every other cruise line uses the World Cruise Center in San Pedro, on the other side of the harbor.

If you’ve booked a cruise with any other cruise line, this article isn’t for you. The Long Beach Terminal exclusively serves Carnival cruise ships. Actually, it serves six Carnival Cruise ships.

Carnival Imagination, Carnival Inspiration, Carnival Legend, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Panorama, and Carnival Splendor all call the Long Beach Cruise Terminal home.

In fact, they have no other home. The Long Beach Cruise terminal is the exclusive home port of Carnival Cruises on the West Coast. The Splendor is moving to Australia soon, though, and Long Beach will be left with five ships.

2. The Terminal was Expanded in 2017-2018

Since it’s been one of the busiest cruise terminals in the country for a while now, it makes sense that Carnival would be pouring money into expansion projects. In fact, prior to the expansion it was only home to four ships- Panorama and Splendor are new arrivals to the West Coast.

The expansion included remodeling and redecorating the interior of the iconic geodesic dome, which was originally built as a museum facility for Howard Hughes’s plane, the Spruce Goose.

By taking over the entire dome and increasing the space available for passengers, they improved the ease and efficiency of the check-in and boarding operations so that the whole process is easy and painless now.

Part of the expansion plans include work being done in Ensenada, Mexico, one of the stops on the three- and four-day cruises to Mexico. These expansions will include shopping centers and restaurants. All of this is part of a broader plan to increase the Long Beach cruise business in general.

Carnival is the largest vacation company in the world, and it’s going to keep getting bigger for the foreseeable future. That’s a good thing for cruise-lovers, because Carnival knows what they’re doing.

The expanded cruise terminal in Long Beach is a great start, and it significantly enhances the experience of leaving on a cruise through that port.

3. There is Parking Available

The Long Beach Cruise Terminal has a five-story, 1,450 space parking garage. This is perfect for people who prefer to drive themselves or who live in the Los Angeles area. You can drive yourself to your cruise, and then easily drive yourself home afterward.

To park in the cruise terminal’s parking garage, the cost is $17 per day. For oversize vehicles, you’ll be charged an additional $17 for each extra space your vehicle uses.

The current $17 per day rate applies to all spaces. There is no difference in price based on what level you park in or if you need a handicap spot. There are also no discounts for compact or fuel-efficient cars.

The rate applies to the space, not the car. If your car takes up two spaces, you’re paying double the rate.

One final note on payment- the money is due in full when you leave and can be paid in cash or via all major credit cards.

Because the parking garage is part of the cruise terminal, it’s under the same security umbrella as everything else. In addition to the overall terminal security, the sheer volume of activity and the near constant presence of people make it difficult to go around breaking into cars there.

If you want to park your car in the terminal parking, you really don’t need to worry about security. It is by all accounts a very safe place to leave your vehicle for the duration of your trip.

Unfortunately, you can’t call in to reserve a parking space ahead of time. Parking in the terminal is first come, first serve. It might be a good idea to arrive early to make sure you have a spot if you’re worried about that.

There are height restrictions, as with any parking garage. For most cars this won’t be a problem, but for those arriving in an RV you may need to use the adjacent outdoor parking lot.

The top floor is uncovered, so if you’re worried about exposing your car to bad weather, try to park on one of the lower levels.

When you arrive at the terminal, the porters who take your luggage should also direct you to the parking garage if you’re having trouble finding it.

You do not need to reserve a parking space in advance for this garage, and, with its huge capacity, finding a parking spot shouldn’t be a problem.

4. The Queen Mary

The Long Beach Cruise Terminal is home to the Queen Mary, a historic retired cruise ship.

Although it looks just like the Titanic to most people, the Queen Mary was built much later and is larger. The ship is 90 years old now, and at one time was the most luxurious and technologically advanced cruise ship in the world.

During World War II, The Queen Mary was converted into a troop ship, and over the course of the war carried over 15,000 allied troops into battle. After the war, the ship was converted back into an ocean liner and spent the next twenty years as a luxury cruise ship. By 1967 the Queen Mary was retired and permanently docked at Long Beach.

These days, the Queen Mary is one of the most unique hotels in the country. If you arrive in Long Beach a day or two before your cruise leaves, you can book a room here.

If you don’t have time to stay in one of the rooms, the ship is also a floating museum with activities and exhibits for the whole family. These include history exhibits, fine dining, and even ghost tours of the supposedly haunted ship.

The Queen Mary is famous for being haunted, and there are daily, or, rather, nightly, ghost tours along with other events catering to those who are interested in the paranormal.

There are also several restaurants and bars on board, and you don’t need to book a room to eat there.

Sir Winston’s is a fine dining option with ocean views and an award-winning menu. The Chelsea Chowder House and Bar is much more casual, although the food is no less delicious. The Promenade Cafe specializes in breakfast and lunch and is far and away the fastest and most family-friendly of the restaurant options.

If you happen to be leaving on a Sunday, the Royal Sunday Brunch is a true spectacle. The meal is served in the Grand Salon, and the array of food is incredible.

If you don’t have time for even that, it’s still fun to get a few pictures with such a beautiful old ship in the background.

5. Terminal Amenities

There plenty of restrooms in the terminal itself, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

There are no places in the terminal for you to store your baggage, but you can arrange to check your baggage in to the ship early if you call ahead. You should also call ahead if someone in your group will need wheelchair assistance.

If you arrived early than you planned but don’t have the time or energy to explore attractions like the Queen Mary, don’t worry: the terminal provides free WiFi.

6. Restaurants

The terminal itself doesn’t have restaurants, but there are plenty nearby. The Queen Mary and other hotels, like the Hotel Maya, have excellent restaurants and these are the closest ones to the terminal.

There are also several restaurants along the waterfront across the harbor from the terminal, although these aren’t much help if you’ve already checked in. If you think you’ll need to eat before you board your cruise, eat before you arrive at the terminal.

Most cruises begin boarding around 1pm, and have boarding completed well before dinner time. Eating lunch before you arrive is a good idea, but once you’ve arrived, you will probably not need to worry about finding something to eat. Once you’re on the cruise, there will be plenty of dining options.

7. Arriving at the Terminal

When you arrive at the terminal, look for the people wearing red caps. These are the porters. The porters are the people who will help you with your luggage, including taking to the ship if you’ve arranged to check it in advance. They can also direct you to the parking garage and answer any questions you may have.

It’s smart to arrive fairly close to the time when your ship is leaving. That doesn’t mean you should get there five minutes before but arriving early won’t have many advantages unless you’re a day or two early and staying in one of the local hotels.

That’s because this is a busy terminal, and even though it has been expanded to hold more people in, you won’t be allowed inside if you arrive too early. You’ll have to sit outside and wait in the heat and the sun.

Instead, look at your ticket. Each ticket should tell you when to arrive at the terminal. For each cruise there’s a fairly small window for check-in and boarding. That’s because the process is surprisingly efficient, so they don’t need to have you there for a long time.

Arrive when your ticket tells you to, and you’ll be able to go right into the terminal, check in, and sit in the cool, air-conditioned building until it’s time to board the ship.

8. Hotels Nearby

In addition to the Queen Mary, there are many other hotels nearby for travelers to stay before or after your cruise.

Hotel Royal, located in downtown Long Beach, was built in 1923 and has retained much of its original design. Each room is decorated differently, and you can choose between suites, kitchenettes, and private rooms.

A uniquely designed, European-style hotel, the Varden is one of the highest-rated hotels in Long Beach. The sign stills reads “Dolly Varden Hotel,” but this building has been extensively renovated and redesigned. It now blends both historic and contemporary features into an elegant design.

Hotel Maya, owned by Hilton, offers stunning rooms with ocean views, and has beach access. Hotel Maya also offers kayak and jet ski rentals so you can really enjoy the water. The Hotel Maya is the closest hotel other than the Queen Mary to the Cruise Terminal, so it’s convenient, too.

Located a mile from the beach in downtown Long Beach, the Hilton offers spacious rooms and a beautiful pool. Perhaps the best part for those leaving on a cruise is their “Stay, Park, Sail” deal. Book a room with the Hilton before your cruise, and they’ll let you leave your car at the hotel for the duration of your cruise, driving you to and from the terminal in their own shuttle.

Hotel Current features hand-painted artwork from local artists in every room. The Snooze and Cruise package offers free parking for the duration of your cruise when you book one night in one of their rooms prior to the cruise. As part of this package, the hotel will offer shuttle service to the cruise terminal.

The Hyatt Regency offers stunning ocean views. You can view the Queen Mary across the water from many of the rooms. With a full bar, incredible views, and comfortable rooms, this is one of the most popular hotels in the area, and it fills up fast. If you want to stay here, book your room early.

With these tips and facts at your disposal, you should be ready for your trip. The Long Beach Cruise Terminal is one of the busiest cruise terminals in the world, with over 300 cruises departing from it each year. With all of the people and ships moving through it, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed but remember that Carnival has the check-in and boarding processes down to a science at this point.

There’s plenty to see and do around the Long Beach Terminal, so arriving early to check out the sights and enjoy the luxury hotels and fine dining options is always a good choice. With its proximity to LA, the Long Beach Cruise Terminal offers a lot more than just a place to board your cruise ship.

It’s a perfect chance to add a few adventures to your cruise vacation, since there’s always something new to see or eat in Los Angeles. Even if you’ve been before, you’ll find something fun and exciting.

While the terminal itself is really little more than a giant dock, a parking garage, and a massive building for handling the check-in and boarding, it’s surrounded by all kinds of exciting places.

Whether you want to tour the Queen Mary, see the Aquarium of the Pacific, or just take in the Southern California sun on the beach, there’s a place to do that nearby.

As long as you show up on time with your ticket and your baggage, you should be good to go.

The terminal building is closed until the staff is ready to begin boarding and check-in. If you arrive before that time, you will have to wait outside. If you have time, you could walk to the Queen Mary and enjoy the exhibits there.

How Far is the Cruise Terminal from Los Angeles?

Long Beach Cruise Terminal is 26 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

How Far is the Cruise Terminal from LAX?

LAX is 22.4 miles from the Cruise Terminal.

How do I get from the Airport to the Cruise Terminal?

You have several choices. You can use a service like Uber or Lyft or take a Taxi. Both LAX and Long Beach Airports have shuttles services as well. There are four different shuttle services that can transport you from the airport to the cruise terminal, and back again.

What If I Don’t Want to Pay for Parking?

Many of the hotels in the area offer package deals that allow you to park there for free while you’re on your cruise if you book a room with them. That is the only free parking available in the area, though. If you don’t want to do that, the only way to avoid paying for parking is to not drive yourself to the cruise terminal.

How Big is the Terminal?

The main building is the geodesic dome that used to be a museum. It’s thirteen stories tall and has plenty of space to handle all of the passengers for a full cruise.

How Long Does Boarding and Check-in take?

It depends on the cruise. Each ship holds a different number of passengers, so some will take longer than others. Usually, the entire process is complete in 3-4 hours. That doesn’t mean you will be sitting around waiting to board for hours, though. The process takes that long because there are people arriving at the terminal during that time. Once you have arrived, the check-in and boarding process is fairly quick.

Construction Begins on 205,700 Gross Ton MSC Europa

Construction has started with the first steel cutting of the first MSC World Class cruise ship named MSC Europa which will be one of the largest in the world.

First Steel Cut for MSC Europa

It’s a hugely important day for MSC Cruises with its largest ever cruise ship now kicking off the construction phase. It has also been announced that the first World Class vessel will be named MSC Europa at a massive 205,700 gross tons.

Pierfrancesco Vago, MSC Cruises’ Executive Chairman, said:

“Today is even more significant as we begin the construction of our first of five LNG-propelled ships, which will further elevate our standards in environmentally-sound cruising thanks to this use of alternative fuels, as well as other cutting-edge technologies.”

MSC Europa
MSC World Class

A ceremony was held at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in St Nazaire, France to mark the major milestone. Cruise line and shipyard executives attended the event.

The new mega-ship will have a passenger capacity of 5,400 and will be powered by Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), a new form of environmentally friendly fuel which the cruise industry is now moving forward with new ship builds.

MSC Europe Stats:

  • Ship name: MSC Europa
  • Ship class: World Class
  • Delivery date: May 2022
  • Gross tonnage: 205,700
  • Lower berth capacity: 5,264
  • Total number of guests: 6,761 (5,264 based on double occupancy)
  • Crew members: 2,139
  • Number of staterooms: 2,632
  • Length / Beam / Height: 1,094 ft. / 154 ft. / 223 ft.

During the ceremony, it was also announced that the first of the new-generation vessels will be named MSC Europa but we don’t yet know any specific features or itinerary as those will be be announced in the future.

MSC Cruises has ordered a total of four World Class vessels from the French shipyard with MSC Europa arriving in 2022 and then three more in 2024, 2025 and 2026. They won’t be as large as the Oasis-class ships from Royal Caribbean or the 208,000-ton Global-class ships from Dream Cruises.

There are a total of 12 cruise ships on order or currently under construction for MSC, not including the MSC Grandiosa, which was just delivered to the cruise line as the first Meraviglia Plus-class vessel at an impressive 181,000 gross tons.

Cruise Passenger Caught Standing on Edge of Ship

A cruise passenger has been caught standing on the very edge of the Allure of the Seas cruise ship on the other side of the balcony.

UPDATE:

It’s now known that the passenger in question was kicked off Allure of the Seas during a call at Falmouth, Jamaica on October 16. The guest is now banned for life cruising with Royal Caribbean. Feel free to continue reading the original details below.

Reckless Behavior Caught on Allure of the Seas

A photo that has been originally posted on social media by Peter Blosic in the Royal Caribbean Crown & Anchor Society Group shows a woman on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas doing something extremely dangerous and reckless.

He captured the guest by taking a photo as she was standing on the opposite side of her balcony. In the photo, the woman can easily be seen standing right on the edge of the Oasis-class cruise ship.

Peter Blosic

It appears the guest is towards the forward part of the ship and just two decks above the end of the bridge can be seen on the starboard side. The photo was apparently taken yesterday while Allure of the Seas was at sea in the Caribbean.

According to his post online, he did alert guest services and the woman was eventually tracked down to the cabin she was staying in. Nothing more is known after that but it is likely she is being kicked off in the next port of call.

Cruise lines take this kind of reckless behavior extremely serious as it is life-threatening and would impact other cruisers too. The photo was apparently used as evidence. Just one gust of wind or a wrong step could have seen the woman end up in the water which would then become an overboard situation.

At the time, Allure of the Seas was sailing at sea towards the first should call at Labadee which is today. The ship had departed Fort Lauderdale, Florida on October 13 as part of a seven-day western Caribbean cruise. Other calls include Falmouth in Jamaica and Cozumel, Mexico before returning to her homeport on October 20.

This is not the first time a Royal Caribbean cruise ship has had to deal with something like this. In January 2019 a man jumped from his balcony on Symphony of the Seas, another Oasis-class vessel.

This occurred while the world’s largest cruise ship was docked in the Bahamas. He was later kicked off the ship along with his entire group and was banned for life cruising with Royal Caribbean.

Allure of the Seas is a huge vessel at 225,282 gross tons with 17 decks. She has a passenger capacity of over 5,400 at double occupancy.

Cruisers should NEVER do anything like what the passenger in the photo above is doing. It is very dangerous indeed and even if there is no injury or tragedy it is still likely to end badly by being removed from the ship, banned and even getting the authorities involved.

Carnival Cruise Line Provides Update on Reducing Single-Use Plastics

Carnival Cruise Line has provided an update on reducing single-use plastics across the fleet, including plastic water bottles.

Carnival Single-Use Plastics Reduction Update

A new update was released from Carnival Cruise Line Ambassador John Heald on reducing single-use plastics across the fleet. This came in response to many asking what the cruise line was doing about ditching plastic water bottles. This was due to rival Norwegian Cruise Line recently announcing it will ditch plastic water bottles across the fleet by January 2020.

Worth Reading: Royal Caribbean Reduces Single Supplement But Not for Everyone

Carnival is also planning on ditching plastic water bottles and a further update on this will be released in the future. So here is the updated posted by Heald on single-use plastics:

  • Carnival has already eliminated individual servings of condiments, salad dressing and cereal boxes.
  • The cruise line has done away with single packets of white sugar in the coffee bar and Lido restaurant, and decorative items such as steak temperature markers, drink umbrellas and stir sticks.
  • Toothpicks are now available on a request basis only in the restaurants and soon wood coffee stirrers will be replaced with a metal alternative and bamboo olive picks will be gone.
  • Plastic cups have been replaced with paper cups.
  • Cups with hot beverages are served with a cardboard lid and cold beverages, like milkshakes, do not have a lid.
  • Already some changes have been made regarding plastic straws.
  • Drinks in souvenir glasses are now served with reusable, hard plastic, dishwasher safe straws.
  • Frozen drinks and milkshakes are served with edible straws.
In the upcoming weeks, Carnival will stop serving plastic straws.
  • Carnival is phasing out single-use amenity bottles of shampoo and body wash as we have installed bulk dispensers in all stateroom bathrooms, including suites.
  • In all of our suites, we will be featuring wonderful Elemis products which will be fleetwide in a few days.
  • There will be no more balloon drops. Biodegradable streamers will be used inside the ship at certain events when the team can pick them up and dispose of them properly.

It’s great that cruise lines are pushing forward in protecting the environment and the reduction will continue. Carnival has appreciated guests for welcoming the changes which will not impact the fun passengers are having onboard.

Carnival Completes Agreement for New Cruise Port and Pier in the Bahamas

The Carnival Corporation has signed an agreement for two cruise port projects for Carnival Cruise Line and Holland America Line.

New Carnival Port Projects in the Bahamas

Carnival which owns a total of nine cruise brands has signed an agreement with the Bahamas government for two new cruise destination projects. The agreement includes a new port development for Carnival Cruise Line on the Grand Bahama Island and a new pier to be built at the private island destination Half Moon Cay for Holland America Line.

The investment for the Grand Bahama port will be $100 million and for the new pier project another $80 million. Both parties can now move forward with the projects with construction expected to start by mid-2020.

Bahamas Prime Minister Hubert A. Minnis, said:

“We are very pleased to announce that Carnival Corporation’s projects in the Bahamas are full speed ahead.”

“These developments and the significant investment in world-class tourism and hospitality operations are such a boon for our initiatives for national prosperity and economic stability.”

The new cruise destination for Carnival Cruise Line on Grand Bahama will be located on the south side and will be in cooperation with the Grand Bahama Port Authority and the Government of the Bahamas. There will be a spectacular beachfront and exciting features along with new job opportunities for the local community. The cruise line will reveal further details about the new development in the future.

This is especially good news as the Grand Bahama island which includes Freeport was devastated in early September by the category 5 Hurricane Dorian. Carnival has been providing urgent supplies and support to the residents of the Bahamas. The new project will help rebuild the economy.

Half Moon Cay which is located on Little San Salvador island will receive its first pier so cruise ships will no longer have to tender during their visits. Other facilities at the private destination will also be upgraded. The island is primarily for Holland America Line but is also used by Carnival Cruise Line.

The current development on the western side covers less than 3% of the 2,400-acre island. The pier will be built on the northern side increasing to just 10% coverage of the island which means the stunning natural beauty shall remain and the focus on the breathtaking beach will still be the focus.

Both new developments will be able to cater for the much larger cruise ships including the new generation liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered Carnival Mardi Gras which joins the Carnival cruise fleet in August 2020.

What Working on a Cruise Ship is Really Like

Let’s get this straight: cruises ships are a $21 billion industry in the U.S. That explains why almost 14.13 million Americans took a cruise in 2019 alone.

But what goes on behind-the-scenes on a cruise, anyway? Read on to see what working on a cruise ship is really like.

Do You Get Days Off Working on a Cruise Ship?

According to Brian David Bruns, who wrote the explosive tell-all Cruise Confidential, there are literally no days off when you are working on a cruise ship.

Although Bruns had never boarded a boat before he applied to become a waiter on a Carnival cruise ship, he never thought that life on a cruise ship would be so demanding.

What happens next is crazy: Bruns would be the first American waiter ever to finish his cruise ship contract with Carnival without throwing in the towel.

Bruns reveals that pay is minimal and he was constantly working at least 80 hours a week, which he places closer to 100 hours a week.

How do you adjust to such a long work week? Brun shares that it’s super hard to get used to working such long hours. At the same time, he also says that you barely have the time to think about your hectic schedule.

What’s it like to be an employee on a cruise ship? Believe it or not, there’s a lot of training involved before you’re ready to work full-time on a cruise ship.

That’s why it’s so important for new cruise ship staff to take training classes to set sail for their future careers. But here’s the kicker: the training period is over three months long depending on the cruise line.

During that time, they’ll learn about how to do their specific job on the ship through group activities.

Once they’re done training, cruise ship employees have to sign a lengthy contract, which can last for up to nine months. Of course, no days off includes holidays too!

However, if an employee is given a long contract, then they can usually take a two-month break or more to live their life on land. But it’s rare that any staff members even take this vacation!

Is Working on a Cruise Ship Hard?

In a nutshell: cruise ship work is actually really difficult. To be honest, it’s already hard enough to work at a restaurant on land. But at sea, it’s a whole other story.

In fact, most cruise ship servers have to take care of up to 30 diners at the exact same time. Plus, the kitchen is more than 100 yards away from the floor.

How do you get through a shift? Bruns dishes that you basically have to sprint to get through your shift. By the time that you clock out of work, it feels like you just left the battlefield.

No wonder why so many employees quit before they finish their contracts! Despite this fact, there have been cruise ship employees who lasted 10 years or more aboard the boat.

Plus, there’s room to get promoted too. Even though most staff members start out at the bottom of the ranks, they can move up as time goes on. Pro tip: employees that stick it out are guaranteed flexible contract and job security.

That’s why a lot of family members choose to work together on the same cruise ships too. Want to know the best part?

As a cruise ship employee, you’re pretty much guaranteed to see the world as part of your job. In spite of this, staff members are only given a couple of hours per day to explore their new surroundings!

How do cruise ship employees deal with such a hectic job? Bruns says that a lot of cruise staff member use alcohol to keep their spirits up. Sometimes, employees would even party until the morning.

Get this: most cruise ships will actually give their employees free drinks after work too! Nevertheless, this sort of behavior starts to add up. The result? A much higher alcohol tolerance!

Do Cruise Ship Staff Date Each Other?

Here’s the deal: it’s highly likely for a cruise ship employee to date another staff member.

Surprisingly, there’s no risk of getting canned for dating a coworker when you work on a cruise ship. The only rule? A cruise ship employee is never allowed to date a cruise ship guest!

As long as you stick to the rules, many cruise ship workers have brief relationships with their fellow employees. Sometimes, these relationships last for months at a time.

But wait – there’s more. With so many cruise ship employees dating each other, some of them even end up getting married!

This is no secret to cruise ship companies, who actually allow married employees to work together on the exact same ship. Not to mention sharing a cruise ship cabin together too.

That being said, it’s very common for cruise ship employees to have two different relationships: one on sea and one on land.

Nonetheless, most cruise ship relationships can begin and end very quickly. Why? Since staff members don’t have any time away from their partner, it’s easy to get over the honeymoon phase!

Do Cruise Ship Employees Live on the Ship?

Since cruise ship employees work around the clock, they’ve got to live on the ship and adjust to cruise ship life. But that doesn’t mean that it’s the typical “room and board” experience.

Incredibly, many cruise ship employees share tiny cabins on the boat. Bruns claims that his room aboard the ship was so small, that he couldn’t even do a push up in it.

Imagine trying to get ready for the day at the same time as your bunkmate! That’s not all. When you work on a cruise ship, your roommates come from all around the world. Nonetheless, they usually don’t stay onboard the same ship for too long.

Amazingly, Bruns divulges that you could have a different bunkmate by the time that you finished one shift at work.

He continues that you can’t even tell who your roommate is anymore when the curtain is closed in your bunk! Although cruise ship employees live together, that doesn’t exactly mean that they’re all on the same level.

Incredibly, there’s a hierarchy of staff members at sea, with officers at the top of the list. That’s because they often receive the best meals, drinks, rooms, and outfits. They get more time off than regular staff members as well.

Yes, you read that right. As if that’s not enough, most officers don’t even talk to lower-ranking cruise ship workers. The proof?

Higher ranking cruise ship employees live on the higher floors of the boat, while employees with less clout have to live on the bottom levels of the ship. We’re not through yet.

Cruise ship employees even have to dine according to their ship ranking. That means that there are three different dining halls:

  • The officer’s mess hall
  • The employee’s mess hall
  • The crew’s mess hall

Crazy, right?

Do Cruise Ship Employees Get Free Food?

You might be wondering: do cruise ship employees get free food? Luckily, those that work aboard a cruise ship are guaranteed an endless supply of free food. As a matter of fact, there’s even a special kitchen that prepares the crew members’ meals.

What do cruise ship staff members eat while they work? Crew meals range from burger and fries to regional dishes from around the world.

Do cruise ship employees’ eat their guests’ leftover food? We can’t emphasize this enough: the staff members on a cruise ship never eat their guests’ leftover food. That’s because they have 24/7 access to all the food that they could ask for.

What if a crew member is too busy to take a meal break? Fortunately, there are laws in place to make sure that every cruise ship employees get to take breaks for meals and snacks.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the food is tasty! Shockingly, lower-ranking cruise ship employees like waiter and bartenders are given the worst grub on the boat.

Some former cruise ship employees even disclose that they were given strange things to eat like rubbery chicken and stewed fish heads.

Still not convinced? Former cruise ship employee Ruthie Darling told Thrillest Magazine that the crew members were often offered chicken feet and pork knuckles for their meals!

The bottom line is mess halls for cruise ship employees are not for the faint of heart!

How Much Do Cruise Ship Employees Make?

This truth is most cruise ship employees are getting paid a lot of cash to put up with life at sea.

Astonishingly, Darling discloses that many cruise ship staff members get paid about $4,000 per month but that’s depending on the cruise line. To top it off, the standard paycheck comes in cold, hard cash. Not bad for not having any expenses to pay for!

The best part? Depending on where you come from, many cruise ship employees don’t even have to pay taxes on their income.

How is this possible? Because cruise ship workers make their money on international waters, which makes the laws a little blurry.

Naturally, a cruise ship employee’s cash starts to add up over time. Amazingly, some crew members are eventually able to save up enough money to buy their own homes!

What’s it Like to Work on a Cruise Ship?

In reality, it’s very lonely to be an employee on a cruise ship. Even though you’re surrounded by thousands of guest and coworkers, Bruns shares that it can still be an isolating experience.

It gets worse as Bruns calls his time working aboard the Carnival cruise ship as the loneliest he’s ever felt in his entire life.

Why does this matter? Because dozens of other cruise ship members are coming and going every couple of days. As a result, staff employees hardly know one another by the time that they finish out their contracts.

How do you get used to such a high employee turnover? Bruns’ advice: you either work through it until the end of your contract or quit before your contract is up.

But there’s still hope. Bruns shares that it’s easier than ever to make friends with other cruise ship employees from all over the globe.

Although the ship travels all over the world, most cruise ship employees get to experience different cultures through the friendships they make with international workers.

Even though talking about religion and politics is normally frowned upon, that’s usually what most cruise ship workers spend their time talking about.

Incredibly, there can be up to 60 unique nationalities of cruise ship employees working on the same vessel!

Working on a Cruise Ship Is a Crazy Experience

Still curious about working on a cruise ship? Let us explain: most cruise ship members work every single day of the week. That includes holidays.

So, when they do have time off, they often make the most of it partying at the various crew bars aboard the ship.

To cope with all of the hard work, cruise ship employees usually form tightknit relationship and friendships with one another.

But with such a high turnover, it’s very hard to keep in touch with all your newfound friends. That doesn’t stop some cruise ship workers from getting married to each other though!

It’s also common for entire families to work aboard the same cruise ship. However, most people quit before their contract is up. If you can stick it out, it’s worth it for the crazy experience!

The Best Way to Help Cruise Ports After a Hurricane

Tropical storms and hurricanes can easily disrupt a cruise vacation, and while altered itineraries, canceled ports, and rough seas may be disappointing, these consequences are nothing compared to the life-changing and deadly devastation these storms can cause to cruise port destinations. After a storm hits, how can cruise travelers help ravaged areas recover? The answer is as simple as taking a cruise!

Hurricane Dorian and the Bahamas

Hurricane Dorian made history in early September, 2019, as it made landfall on Elbow Cay, the Abaco Islands, and Grand Bahama Island from September 1-3 as a Category 5 storm, the strongest storm in modern tracking to strike the northwestern islands of the Bahamas.

As Dorian stalled over the islands it brought storm surge of 20-25 feet that washed away homes and businesses, flooded the airport, and devastated beaches.

Wind gusts higher than 220 miles per hour were recorded, and after the storm had passed, more than 50 fatalities were noted – a number expected to rise in the weeks and months of cleanup following the storm. More than 13,000 homes were damaged, more than 70,000 people left homeless, and a total of more than $7 billion in damage was estimated.

The Bahamas is one of the most popular cruise ports in the Caribbean, with more than two million cruise passengers visiting the islands each year.

The capital city of Nassau, along with the popular destination of Freeport and multiple private islands leased by different cruise lines, are all popular ports of call that charm and delight cruisers of all ages from Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Disney, Princess, Celebrity, Aida, Costa, and many other cruise lines. Yet in a span of 72 hours, Hurricane Dorian devastated the islands and brought the country’s cruise industry to a halt.

Other Devastating Storms

Many storms threaten different Caribbean ports of call each year, and other strong storms have done significant damage to favorite cruise ports. In 2017, Hurricane Irma struck the British Virgin Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, Haiti, Puerto Rico, and numerous other ports along its massive track, adding up a total of 134 fatalities and more than $77 billion in damage.

Also in 2017, Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and other ports, causing more than 3,000 deaths and $91 billion in damage. In 2005, Hurricane Wilma tore a swath through the western Caribbean, devastating Cozumel, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Haiti, Cuba, and other ports with 87 fatalities and more than $27 billion in damage.

During any hurricane season, a tropical storm or hurricane might cause severe damage to port facilities, resort areas, shopping districts, private homes, and entire communities. While certain storms are long remembered as dramatic monsters, even smaller storms can have long-lasting impacts on ports that rely so heavily on a tourism economy, including cruise travel.

The Lasting Impacts of Hurricanes

While the immediate impacts of a hurricane are obvious, the long-term effects go far beyond storm surge, piles of rubble, and cluttered beaches. When ports of call are closed after a storm, many people may lose jobs or face weeks without pay until their workplaces recover.

Tour guides have no tours to lead, and there is no need for drivers. Street artisans and craftsman cannot sell their merchandise, and store owners have lost inventory and business. Wait staff at restaurants will have no one to serve, and local attractions remain empty if tourists stay away. Dock workers are not needed when ships do not call on the ports, and other support staff, including tender operators, port employees, and even taxi drivers cannot work as much.

Emergency Aid After a Storm

Immediately after a storm passes, emergency aid is critical to save lives and help a port community begin to rebuild. During the first days and weeks after the storm, even while overall damages are still being assessed, monetary and material donations are critical to help alleviate suffering and discomfort and help the community recover. These donations focus on survival and getting rescue efforts underway.

Anyone interested in donating to relief efforts should contact reputable organizations for instructions and guidelines to be sure their donations are used appropriately. Monetary donations are always appreciated and can help provide emergency relief as well as begin rebuilding communities, evacuating survivors, and providing medical care.

Material donations such as non-perishable food, matches, trash bags, tarps, nails, batteries, bandages, and hygiene products can also be welcome, but check with relief organizations first to determine what supplies are in the greatest need.

Volunteers may also be useful in helping storm-ravaged communities recover. Skilled contractors or anyone with building experience are especially welcome, as are individuals with experience in nursing, first aid, electrical work, childcare, and counseling. Different organizations will offer different volunteer opportunities in impacted areas, and individuals interested in becoming involved should contact those organizations about their needs and requirements.

Cruising to Recovery

One of the very best ways to help storm-damaged ports recover from terrible weather is by booking a cruise. Because many economies in the Caribbean rely so heavily on tourism dollars, the more tourists that visit the area, the quicker it can recover from devastating storms. Furthermore, you can make your cruise fare go even further in helping local economies when you…

  • Visit ports as close to the devastation as possible. Cruise ships will return to the ports as soon as they can safely do so.
  • Take a shore tour or two while in port to bring visibility and income to local attractions and locally employed guides, drivers, and other residents.
  • Enjoy a meal of local tastes at a portside restaurant, or grab a drink or dessert while you’re out enjoying the port.
  • Purchase souvenirs in port, not just for yourself, but also gifts for coworkers, neighbors, teachers, family members, and friends.
  • Do not haggle over pricing on souvenir items, guide services, or taxi rides, and instead be willing to pay the full rate to support the local economy.
  • Tip generously for any services you receive in port, such as taxi rides, guide advice, hair braiding, directions, or other services.

The more cruises you book, the more helpful you will be to the local economies – not only by the money you spend on your vacation, but also by letting cruise lines know that you enjoy visiting these ports and want to return.

As cruise ports grow more popular, cruise lines will create more itineraries, spend more time docked in ports, and upgrade their local infrastructure to support even more visits. All of these steps will help ports recover from devastating storms and grow even stronger to provide more enjoyment and relaxation to millions of cruise passengers every year.
