Carnival Cruise Line Goes Behind the Scenes in New Ship Tour Video

Carnival Cruise Line has invited guests behind-the-scenes to “sea” sustainability in action with a new video highlighting onboard environmental initiatives across the Fun Ship fleet.

Released ahead of Earth Day, April 22, the video offers insights about what one of the most popular and largest cruise lines in the world is doing to keep marine and port destination environments clean and healthy.

New Video Shows Onboard Environmental Practices

In a new “Sea Sustainability in Action” video tour, Carnival Cruise Line is showing guests firsthand different environmental measures taken onboard all the line’s 25 vessels.

The video showcases ships in different worldwide destinations, with behind-the-scenes footage aboard the cruise line’s flagship, Carnival Celebration. First up is the 24-hour Recycling Center onboard, where, fleetwide, 11 million pounds of recyclables are sorted and processed each year.

You can watch the video below:

“It’s everybody’s responsibility on the ship to make sure that waste is properly sorted so that we can maximize recycling,” said Richard Pruitt, vice president of Environmental Operations for Carnival Cruise Line.

The video goes on to showcase the biodigesters, machines that use beneficial bacteria to literally digest soft food scraps and break down. Biodigesters are located in every ship’s galley for efficient use. Compared to 2019, food waste has been reduced by 35% across the Carnival fleet.

The video also briefly mentions liquefied natural gas (LNG) as it relates to air emissions, as well as other technical aspects of ship operations – automation, upgraded hardware, and engine efficiency that are all part of the line’s sustainability practices.

Even guest behavior is related to sustainability, with asking guests to conserve water and electricity onboard.

“Our guests have to play their part,” said Pruitt. “When we ask them to save electricity, we ask them to not waste water, they respond very well. They want to play their part. They want to know that when it comes time for their next cruise vacation, they want to know that that place has been preserved so that they can go back and enjoy it.”

How Guests Can Practice Sustainability on a Cruise

There are many ways cruise guests can practice good sustainability onboard, whether they are sailing with Carnival or any other cruise line.

Reusing towels, whether bathroom towels or beach towels, can help reduce the need for laundry, saving water and electricity as well as minimizing soap and other chemicals. Guests could also ask their stateroom attendants for just their favorite towel animals or none at all, so extra towels do not need to be washed.

Turning off the water while brushing teeth or shaving can also lead to significant savings, as can taking shorter showers.

Being mindful of food choices can go a long way toward minimizing food waste, such as not taking extra at the buffet, asking for half servings in the main dining room, or splitting with a friend when guests may not be sure if they will enjoy a particular dish.

Guests should always be sure nothing they use blows off the ship and into the ocean, whether it may be while dining on an open deck or relaxing on their balcony. Littering is strictly prohibited and is a violation of Carnival’s policies.

While on shore, guests can also help protect the environments of every destination they visit by following the adage “take only pictures, leave only footprints” and never littering or damaging local plants.

Minding “keep off” signs for delicate hillsides or garden beds, as well as not damaging reefs while snorkeling or scuba diving can also help protect amazing cruise destinations.

Carnival Cruise Guests Banned for Life After Fishing From Balcony

Guests featured in a recent viral video as they caught a fish off their stateroom balcony have now been banned for life from Carnival Cruise Line.

The guests’ behavior was in violation of the several of the cruise line’s policies, as well as local laws in The Bahamas, where the incident took place.

Fishing Gets Carnival Guests Banned

Many people enjoy fishing, and some cruises even offer a variety of fishing excursions at different destinations. A pair of Carnival Cruise Line guests have learned the hard way, however, that it is not acceptable to fish off one’s stateroom balcony.

In an incident reported several days ago, two Carnival guests were seen fishing from their balcony stateroom in a video posted to TikTok. While the cruise ship and sailing date were not identified, one of the guests was clearly wearing a Carnival Sail-and-Sign card, with the blue card indicating it was the guest’s first sailing with the cruise line.

You can watch the passengers fishing from the Carnival cruise balcony below:

Background details in the video identify the port as Nassau, as the new dock structures nearing completion can clearly be seen, which indicates the video was filmed relatively recently.

Carnival Cruise Line has reacted to the incident with a brief statement: “Fishing from our ships is prohibited. We have identified the guests and they will not be cruising on Carnival again,” a cruise line representative stated.

Cruise Ship Passenger Fishing off Balcony

Carnival Cruise Line’s brand ambassador, John Heald, also noted the prohibition on his popular Facebook page. “Fishing from our balconies or from anywhere else on board is not permitted,” he said.

To protect the identity of those involved, the names of the passengers have not been released, nor has Carnival confirmed which ship they had sailed on. The TikTok video and its associated account have since been deleted.

Policies Violated and Laws Broken

While there is no precise policy in Carnival Cruise Line’s ticket contract that prohibits fishing from a balcony stateroom, the action does violate a number of other policies that are outlined.

First, in section 9(a), every guest “agrees to abide by all shipboard rules and policies” and any violation “may cause Guest to be prohibited from sailing with Carnival in the future.”

Section 4(e) explicitly states “No Guest is permitted to bring on board the Vessel live animals” other than qualified service dogs with appropriate advance notice. The fish that was caught is seen alive in the video, and most definitely brought aboard the ship to the guests’ balcony.

“Fish of any kind” are also explicitly listed on Carnival’s prohibited items list, with the note that any fish caught during an excursion must be shipped home rather than brought onboard the ship.

Depending on how the incident is interpreted, the guests involved may be in violation of section 9(j) with respect to the cruise line’s environmental policy, which covers “releasing any unauthorized item overboard” – and an illegally caught fish could certainly be regarded as an unauthorized item, thought the video does not show whether or not the guests did return it overboard.

Finally, all Carnival guests are subject to “local requirements in respect of immigration, border patrol, customs and excise, agriculture, health, environment, or any other government regulation whatsoever.”

This means the implicated guests may have broken local laws by not securing the proper permits for fishing, which would be under environmental jurisdiction as well as Customs and Immigration for foreign visitors to The Bahamas.

When Can You Go Fishing?

Fishing is a popular hobby, and guests can choose from different shore excursions that offer fishing experiences, depending on their ship’s sailing date, itinerary, ports of call, and seasonal conditions.

For Carnival guests, fishing excursions are occasionally offered in The Bahamas, Mexico, Alaska, St. Lucia, Bermuda, Bonaire, Belize, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and even Fiji. The types of fishing vary from sport fishing to reef fishing to deep sea fishing depending on the destination.

On these authorized tours, the tour operators arrange for all proper permits and ensure safe fishing conditions. Some tours even include “eat what you catch” or “cook your catch” opportunities for the freshest seafood imaginable.

Carnival Cruise Line Offers Details on How Gratuities Are Shared

Automatic gratuities can be a convenience for cruise guests, but it can also be confusing to understand just which crew members onboard receive those tips.

Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador John Heald has offered some clarification about who receives automatic gratuities as well as how any extra tips are divided amongst crew members and what happens if tips are removed from onboard accounts.

How Automatic Gratuities Are Offered

Many cruise lines post automatic gratuities to guests’ onboard accounts as a convenient way for tips to be extended to hard-working crew members. This is usually done in at a set daily rate, and may be posted to guests’ accounts each day, or in one or two lump sums during the cruise.

Guests may also pre-pay these automatic gratuities at the prevailing rate at the time they book their cruise, therefore avoiding any extra charge on their account during the cruise.

On Carnival Cruise Line, the automatic gratuity rate is $16 (USD) per person, per day as of April 1, 2023. This covers guests in all standard staterooms, whether interior, ocean view, or balcony cabins. Rates are higher in suites, at $18 per person, per day, because of the extra amenities and more personalized services for suites.

Guests have long wondered how gratuities are distributed to crew members, and some guests prefer to remove the automatic gratuities in favor of presenting tips directly to the crew members they see the most.

Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador John Heald has now offered some details about how both automatic and extra gratuities are distributed, specifically for “Your Time Dining” guests who may not have the same dining room servers each night, depending on when they choose to eat and what part of the dining room they are seated in.

“Firstly the waiters on Your Time Dining all pool or share the tips together that are pre-paid or charged to your sail and sign account,” Heald explained. “Any extra cash tips you give a waiter is kept by them and shared only with their assistant waiter who also served you directly.”

This means that all staff members get that extra monetary recognition through the automatic gratuities, whether pre-paid or added to guests’ accounts during the cruise.

Guests who want to reward extra special service to individual servers, however, should do so through extra cash offered directly to the crew member.

What About Stateroom Attendants?

While Heald did not indicate if the same policy applies to stateroom attendants who provide clean towels, refresh the bedding, clean bathrooms, and take care of other stateroom tasks, it stands to reason that the distribution of gratuities is similar.

Automatic or pre-paid gratuities may be pooled for distribution among all a ship’s stateroom attendants, while extra cash goes just to the crew members it is offered to from individual guests.

Are Crew Members Told If Gratuities Are Removed?

Recently, Heald also addressed another controversial topic about gratuities – whether or not crew members are informed if guests remove their automatic gratuities.

Because gratuities are always optional, every guest has the ability to remove or adjust the automatic gratuities on their Sail-and-Sign accounts (pre-paid gratuities cannot be adjusted). It has long been rumored that crew members are given a list of which staterooms have removed gratuities, which may then impact the service they offer to those guests.

“The crew are not ever shown a list of the specific cabins that may have removed gratuities,” Heald clarified. “Now they will know by how much they receive compared to the number of tables they wait on or the number of cabins they clean but which cabins removed them, no, they are not shown a list.”

Heald has noted many times that the vast majority of Carnival Cruise guests do not remove gratuities, and of those who do remove the automatic tips, many guests offer cash payment to their stateroom attendants, dining room staff, and other crew members.

“We will continue to allow people to remove gratuities if they wish,” Heald said. “We know (because we ask the crew) how many tip in cash instead of the pre paid amounts.”

Most cruise lines have similar gratuity policies, though rates vary and are subject to change. Before cruising, guests booked on any cruise line should investigate the gratuity rate, how tips are charged to guests’ accounts, and what other gratuity-related policies may be in place.

Celebrity Cruise Ship Oversold Six Months Before Sailing

Celebrity Cruises has reached out to select guests booked on the October 24, 2023 sailing of Celebrity Millennium to let them know that their cruise has been oversold.

The cruise line is offering several options for guests whose bookings have now been cancelled, but why are oversold situations happening for different cruise lines at all?

Celebrity Millennium Oversold

Celebrity Cruises has contacted select guests to inform them that their reservation aboard the October 24, 2023 sailing of Celebrity Millennium has been cancelled.

“We are sincerely regretful to inform you that, due to a rare and unexpected inventory error, your Celebrity Millennium 12-night Japan sailing departing October 24, 2023 has been oversold,” the email reads. “This is not a situation we encounter often and one we are truly disheartened to report.”

“We regret to advise that we have no choice but to cancel this booking. Please know that we exhausted every possible option to avoid having to take this action.”

The impacted cruise is a 12-night roundtrip “Best of Southern Japan” sailing from Tokyo, with seven ports of call in such spectacular destinations as Shimizu, Kyoto, Okinawa, and Korea.

Guests booked aboard the sailing should note that the cruise is not entirely cancelled, but guests in overbooked cabins may have their individual reservations cancelled.

Celebrity Cruises has not released details of why some guests are cancelled and others are not, though such decisions can be based on a variety of factors, such as cabin type, when the initial reservation was made, whether the booking is already paid in full, the loyalty status of the booked guests, and other considerations.

Celebrity Millennium is the first of her class, having debuted in 2002. Weighing in at 90,963 gross tons, she can welcome 2,138 guests per sailing, with approximately 950 crew members aboard to provide spectacular service.

Alternative Options

For guests whose reservations are now cancelled, Celebrity Cruises is offering two options.

Guests may choose to “lift and shift” their reservation to select alternative Asia voyages, with the cruise fare honored for like stateroom categories. Guests may choose from three alternative 12-night sailings aboard Celebrity Millennium in 2024: the September 24, October 6, or October 18 departures.

This option also includes a refund of other costs such as non-refundable flights or other travel arrangements associated with the cruise, up to $500 (USD) per guest with appropriate documentation.

The second option is for guests to cancel their cruise altogether, which would result in a full refund of all monies paid, as well as a future cruise credit (FCC) of $450 for any future cruise booking, on any ship and for any destination. Guests cancelling their cruise will also receive a $500 refund of other documented ancillary costs.

If guests used a previous FCC to book their now-cancelled reservation, the credit will be reissued with an expiration date of one year from the date of issuance. Similarly, the new FCC due to cancelling the cruise, will also have a one-year expiration date.

Guests hoping to “lift and shift” their reservation must do so by before May 1, 2023. After that date, oversold reservations will be automatically cancelled and refunded, and the future cruise credits issued.

“Once again, we wish to express our sincere regret and empathy for this disruption to your vacation plans,” the email concluded. “We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this unexpected situation.”

Why Are Ships Being Oversold?

Several cruise ships from different lines have been “oversold” in recent months, including the world’s largest cruise ship, Wonder of the Seas, being oversold for the popular spring break week in early March.

But why are these “unexpected situations” happening?

While cruise lines have not explained the exact circumstances that have led to oversold bookings, there could be several reasons. Technical glitches with booking engines might result in some staterooms accidentally being booked twice, or group bookings might be introduced to select sailings that could lead to oversold situations.

Because many guests are booking cruises further in advance and trying to rebook sailings that may have been cancelled during the pandemic-related industry shutdown, that can complicate existing reservations, especially if guests have shifted reservations several times.

While oversold situations are very rare for cruise ships, guests can take several steps to minimize the risk that they might have a booking cancelled. Directly choosing a cabin rather than opting for a guarantee rate can help solidify a booking, as can ensuring the cruise is paid in full well before payment due dates.

If an oversell does happen, the best recourse for any impacted guest is to be patient and understanding about the unusual situation, and choose which alternative option works best for their travel plans.

Holland America Line Celebrates Special Anniversary in Style

Holland America Line has reached a monumental milestone with its 150th anniversary, and marked the exact day of the event – April 18, 2023 – with appropriate ceremony as the line’s flagship, Rotterdam, arrived at the Port of Rotterdam where the line was first founded.

Flagship Arrives to Begin 150th Anniversary Celebration

Holland America Line’s flagship, the Pinnacle-class Rotterdam, arrived the capital of The Netherlands on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the end of her 150th Anniversary crossing that departed Fort Lauderdale on April 3. This marks the exact birthday of the cruise line, and included all-day celebrations both on the ship and at very special locations on shore.

Part of the festivities took place at Hotel New York, home to the cruise line’s original headquarters from 1901-1977, with Holland America Line President Gus Antorcha, Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands, Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb, and descendants of Holland America Line’s original founders all in attendance.

Also at the ceremony were Holland America Line team members and more than 60 of the cruise line’s top Mariners, guests who have sailed at least 1,400 days on Holland America Line’s vessels.

At Hotel New York, the cruise line unveiled a commemorative 150th Anniversary bell to be permanently displayed at the property. Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet poured champagne over the bell, a Holland America Line tradition usually reserved for launching a new ship.

“The celebration of 150 years is about more than our history, it’s about how we are building on the legacy of a great brand to make it relevant for the next 150 years,” said Antorcha.

“The fabric of history is woven from the threads of millions of stories, and at the heart of each of those stories is a person,” he continued. “I am certain that there are many chapters still to be written. And I hope that decades from now, those who come after us will gather on this very spot at Hotel New York to share them.”

In addition to the bell ceremony, members of one of Holland America Line’s founding families presented an original company share that will be kept as part of a special collection in the Rotterdam City Archives.

Celebrating Onboard and On Shore

It wasn’t only at Hotel New York where festivities were noting the remarkable anniversary.

Other commemorative events include the issuance of a special 24-karat gold-foil stamp that features Rotterdam I, the cruise line’s first ship, alongside Rotterdam VII, the current flagship.

The stamp is officially issued through PostNL, the post office of The Netherlands, and was designed by Frank Janse. Only 1,000 of the limited-edition stamps have been produced, and each has a retail price of €50 ($55 USD)

A gala dinner was held aboard Rotterdam, as well as a Lido Pool deck party, where Antorcha presented a special toast.

“To the builders, architects, visionaries and explorers who have brought us to today. To our generations of crew who have seen our guests from shore to shore. And most importantly, to all of the passengers and guests who have trusted us along the way. Cheers to 150 years and many more to come,” he said.

Onshore, the city of Rotterdam’s Erasmus Bridge was illuminated with a special light display honoring the line’s 150th Anniversary.

Anniversary parties were also held aboard the other ships in the Holland America Line fleet, no matter where they are sailing on this very special day.

Passenger Captured Fishing From Carnival Cruise Ship Balcony

A guest aboard a Carnival cruise ship docked in Nassau has posted a video of fishing from their stateroom balcony, reeling in a catch in what is undoubtedly a very prohibited act. But what do we know about who posted the video and what the cruise line’s policies may be?

Fishing From a Balcony Cabin

A guest aboard a Carnival ship has been videoed by a traveling companion while fishing from a balcony stateroom. The video, posted to TikTok by user Jessica Locklear (jessicalocklear02), shows the male passenger pulling in a fish from an obvious balcony cabin, while the female guest filming the video laughs and exclaims throughout.

No fishing rod is visible, just a lengthy piece of line and the spool it is from. As the fish comes closer, not only can viewers see that it is tangled in the line, but a hook is embedded in its mouth and small yellow lure and metal weight are also attached to the line.

You can watch the video footage below:

By size, overall markings, and the triangular body shape, the fish appears to be a buffalo trunkfish (also called cowfish, boxfish, or shell-fish).

The exact cruise ship is not identified in the video, but the male guest is wearing a Carnival Cruise Line sail-and-sign card. The blue card indicates this is the guest’s first sailing with the cruise line, as guests on their second cruises are issued red sail-and-sign cards, and higher loyalty levels have gold, silver, or white cards depending on their Very Important Fun Person (VIFP) status.

The video was posted on April 16, 2023, but there is no telling exactly when it may have been filmed. Background in the video is clearly obvious as Nassau due to the recent port improvements visible on the dock and the island’s distinctive water tower in the distance.

Several Carnival ships have visited Nassau recently: Carnival Sunrise, Mardi Gras, Carnival Elation, Carnival Paradise, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Sunshine, Carnival Dream, Carnival Conquest, and Carnival Freedom all docked in Nassau in the week prior to and including the video’s post date.

The TikTok account in question is not a prolific one, with just six videos posted and 728 followers as of this writing. The fishing video has been posted twice, and together has gone viral with more than 2 million views.

The video cuts off as the fish is on the balcony floor, and it is not known what became of the fish after the video, as no further updates have been posted. If the fish was tossed back overboard, it is unlikely to have survived.

Is Fishing From a Cruise Ship Permitted?

It must be noted that fishing off a cruise ship balcony is absolutely not permitted, as it would present a hazard not only to marine wildlife – there being no guarantee that any fish caught would not be protected, or other marine life such as sea turtles, corals, or stingrays would not be harmed – but could also be hazardous to the ship if items swung from a line onto other balconies.

Therefore, the individuals in this video likely broke several cruise line policies as well as local Bahamian law with this stunt if they did not previously apply for and receive the appropriate fishing permit.

While Carnival Cruise Line does permit fishing rods to be brought onboard their ships, such equipment can only be used while off the ship in an appropriate port of call.

The video in question does not show any fishing rod, just the spool of line.

Animal products are not permitted to be brought back and taken off the ship in the United States, and therefore if the individual did keep the fish, it would not have cleared customs inspection. Fish caught on an authorized shore excursion must be shipped back to a guest’s home.

Bow Design Revealed for New Disney Cruise Ship

Disney Cruise Line has revealed further details of its upcoming new ship, Disney Treasure. In a short video, Captain Minnie is seen following a treasure map to ultimately reveal one of the ship’s keel-laying coins, which morphs into the bow design featuring none other than the adventurer herself, Captain “Voyager” Minnie.

Disney Treasure to Feature Voyager Minnie

Disney Cruise Line has continued to tease details about the upcoming Disney Treasure, scheduled to debut in 2024. In a new “captain’s log” video shared on social media, Captain Minnie – wearing her new adventure gear previously revealed in another video – follows her treasure map and seeks out the famous “X” marking a very special spot.

First, she has to trek “across the savanna, through faraway lands, deep in the jungle, and surrounded by nature,” all hints at spectacular destinations guests can explore via Disney Cruise Line.

At that spot, “Voyager Minnie” discovers a treasure chest, and upon opening it, finds not only gold and silver coins, but a very special coin – the Voyager Minnie coin used as part of Disney Treasure’s keel laying ceremony on March 30, 2023.

The coin then morphs into the gold seal on the bow of the new ship, indicating that Voyager Minnie will be at the helm of Disney Treasure.

“Remember, adventures don’t always end with finding treasure,” Captain Minnie says. “Sometimes they’re just the beginning!” The video closes with a shot of the new ship with “New Adventures Await” printed beneath the ship’s name.

What Will the New Adventures Be?

While Disney Cruise Line has continued to hint about new adventures for the new ship, very little is yet known about where the vessel will be homeported or what itineraries she may sail.

The cruise line has confirmed that the following ship – after Disney Treasure – will be based in Singapore for at least five years. That ship is the former Global Dream, which Disney Cruise Line purchased in November 2022 before its construction for the now-defunct Genting Cruise Lines was complete.

It is likely that Disney Treasure may be based from Port Canaveral, Disney Cruise Line’s traditional homeport, or it is possible she may be based from another Florida cruise port, keeping the ship close to the most popular Disney theme parks for combined vacation options.

The ship could also be based from California to give the cruise line a stronger presence for the west coast cruise market, or Disney Treasure may be deployed in a completely different location, such as a permanent European homeport, or perhaps Down Under for year-round cruises in Australia and New Zealand.

Nassau’s New $300 Million Cruise Port Project Nears Completion

The Nassau Cruise Port in the Bahamas, which is undergoing a massive transformation, is nearing completion. Turkish builder ENKA has announced that it expects the port to be fully completed before the opening ceremony next month.

This completion of the new cruise port means good news for the Bahamas, as it will be able to welcome multiple Oasis and Icon class cruise ships simultaneously, significantly increasing the number of daily visitors. Cruise ship passengers will be welcomed to a huge area of new and improved facilities that cost the port more than $300 million to build.

A Costly Endeavor

Nassau’s long-awaited new cruise port and facilities are nearing completion. The project has entered the last few weeks of building, landscaping, and inspections. In May, builder ENKA will officially hand over the completed project to the Bahamian government and port operator Global Port Holdings.

First announced in 2019, the Nassau Cruise Port Project was awarded to ENKA in June 2020, with the builder executing the project in two stages, Stage 1, the Marine Works, and Stage 2, the Upland Works. ENKA made the two-stage approach to ensure the port remained fully operational throughout the entire build process.

Nassau Cruise Port Upgrade

Phase 1 focused on accommodating larger cruise vessels, such as the Oasis and Icon class ships, through dredging and extending the cruise pier. The port now also features a new berth for mega-yachts. Phase 1 also involved upgrading existing structures and creating East and West Marinas for additional docking capacity.

Phase 2 centered on constructing new facilities that enhance the overall experience for both visitors and locals. Although the project’s total cost is around $300 million, over budget by about $50 million, this approach enabled Nassau to set several record-breaking visitor days this year.

The grand opening of the port is scheduled for the last weekend in May, which is considerably later than initially planned, according to Mike Maura, Port Director for Nassau.

“We had expected to be finished long before the last weekend of May 2023, but the pandemic has had its fun with us. Once completed, we will be able to handle comfortably three Oasis ships at the same time and three other vessels for a total of six,” said Maura.

Facilities and Improvements

New amenities at the port include a modern terminal building, a Junkanoo Museum showcasing Bahamian cultural heritage, and a theater for live performances and events. Visitors can also enjoy various international and local restaurants, shops, and entertainment facilities.

Altogether, these upgrades aim to increase the number of daily passengers arriving in Nassau by cruise ship by more than 50%. In other words, capacity has increased from 20,000 to an incredible 33,000 passengers daily.

Nassau Cruise Port Upgrade

The numbers are expected to grow significantly to four million cruise visitors in 2023 during 1,260 cruise ship calls and 4.5 million visitors in 2024 during 1,300 cruise ship calls.

One area that Nassau has often been criticized about was the look of the port area in general. ENKA has placed extensive importance on extensive hardscaping and landscaping work to enhance the port’s look and accessibility further.

The upgraded port will also integrate with Bay Street and downtown Nassau. Hopefully, the new enhancements will improve the general level of service and the sense of security that cruise passengers can expect in Nassau.

CEO Mike Maura stated earlier this year that the port has failed to provide experiences, services, and value to cruise guests. Despite being the fifth busiest passenger cruise port globally, Maura claims that the port’s operational capacity and local attractions did not meet the demands of cruise passengers.
