Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas Arrives in the U.S. for First Time

Key Aspects:

  • Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, arrived at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale on November 7, 2026, its first visit to the U.S.
  • The ship crossed the Atlantic from Barcelona after its inaugural summer season in the Mediterranean, making a short diversion near Puerto Rico for a Coast Guard medical evacuation.
  • Legend of the Seas sails its first cruise from Florida on November 8, followed by a naming ceremony on November 11 and regular Caribbean voyages from November 14.

Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, has arrived in the United States for the first time on November 7, 2026, after completing a transatlantic voyage that departed Barcelona, Spain, on October 25.

The massive 5,610-passenger Icon-class vessel arrived at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, shortly after 9:00 AM local time, according to the Cruise Ship Tracker. The ship was greeted by the traditional tugboat water salute.

“We’re proud to welcome Legend of the Seas to Fort Lauderdale today after an incredible inaugural season in Europe,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean. “As the newest Icon Class ship to sail from Florida, alongside Icon and Star of the Seas, Legend gives guests even more ways to experience the unmatched combination of thrills, chill and family memory-making that defines the Icon Class.

Legend of the Seas‘ journey across the Atlantic included calls at Palma de Mallorca on October 26, Malaga on October 27, and a final call at Cadiz on October 28.

On November 5, the ship made a short diversion in the eastern Caribbean. The ship needed to get closer to Puerto Rico so the U.S. Coast Guard could airlift a passenger. The unexpected detour did not delay the ship’s arrival in the U.S.

Even though Legend of the Seas is only now in the U.S., the ship has already been sailing an inaugural season in the Mediterranean since entering service in July 2026.

“We are pleased to welcome Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas to Broward County,” said Mark D. Bogen, Mayor of Broward County. “The arrival of such an awe-inspiring ship on her inaugural visit to the U.S. creates yet another means of strengthening economies, creating jobs, boosting tourism and showcasing our port and County to the world.”

The ship was built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, where all Icon-class vessels have been built, including sister ships Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas, and the upcoming Hero of the Seas, which is set to debut from Miami in August 2027.

What’s Happening Next with Legend of the Seas in the U.S.?

The Icon-class ship will begin sailing from Fort Lauderdale on November 8 on a short three-night voyage to the cruise line’s private island, Perfect Day CocoCay, in the Bahamas, before arriving back home on November 11.

Once the ship returns to Florida on November 11, Royal Caribbean will hold a naming ceremony with godmother, retired U.S. Air Force Gen. Lori J. Robinson. Then the ship will make another short three-night voyage to CocoCay.

Regular service will commence on November 14 with an eight-night voyage to the Bahamas and the southern Caribbean. Legend of the Seas will continue to offer alternating eight-night and six-night voyages from Fort Lauderdale.
