Adults-Only Marella Discovery 2 Reveals Four New Venues Coming in 2027

Key Aspects:

  • Four new venues are coming to Marella Discovery 2 as the ship is converted to an adults-only vessel.
  • A private karaoke lounge, immersive speakeasy show, themed escape room, and creative screen-free space are all being renovated from former kids’ spaces.
  • Three venues do require reservations and have extra fees, but the creative arts & crafts space is included in the cruise fare.

Marella Cruises has announced details about four new venues coming to Marella Discovery 2 as the ship transitions to permanent adults-only service. Each of the new venues will be exclusive to the 1,836-guest ship and will be transformed from former kids’ spaces, with openings expected in early 2027.

Cruise Hive previously reported on the ship’s conversion to a permanent adults-only vessel, joining Marella Explorer 2, which is already an adults-only ship. Now, further details of the new, immersive venues have been revealed.

Amplify Karaoke is the cruise line’s first dedicated karaoke venue with a library of thousands of songs available. It’s a unique design as a private lounge with room for up to seven guests and no singing in front of strangers. Instead, friends and family members can enjoy the activity together, creating memories without the pressure (or potential embarrassment!) of a traditional karaoke venue.

The Lost Luggage Bureau Bar
The Lost Luggage Bureau Bar

For guests interested in a glamorous venue with a secretive touch, The Lost Luggage Bureau emulates a speakeasy vibe behind the fictional front of a lost property office. Live music, acting, and immersive storytelling spin intrigue around the mysterious contents of the luggage, with three signature cocktails (non-alcoholic versions available) as part of the story.

Two different 90-minute productions will be available with space for up to 42 guests at each event: “The Case in Question” and “Smugglers Society.”

Guests who want to be more directly involved in the adventure will enjoy Red Handed, the new escape room themed as the backstage of the fictional Cabaret Rouge lounge in the 1920s. Teams of up to six guests have one hour to “steal” Lady Ruby Bardot’s diamond necklace.

Finally, The Loft brings calming, screen-free vibes and a home-like setting onboard. Open 24 hours a day, the venue includes a library, board games, craft space, and quiet relaxation for guests who want a digital detox. The Crafts Ahoy program will host sessions in The Loft, with fun projects in jewelry making, macrame, sketching, quilling, button art, watercolor painting, and other crafts.

“We’ve looked closely at what guests love across our ships, as well as wider consumer trends around relaxation, social connection, immersive entertainment and creative wellbeing, to create four distinctive new venues that will appeal to our loyal customers and those new to cruise alike,” said Chris Hackney, Marella Cruises CEO.

“Whether that’s sipping cocktails in a secret speakeasy, belting out a favourite song with friends or picking up a paintbrush on a sea day, these venues give guests more ways to make their holiday their own.”

Extra Costs for Most New Venues

Three out of the four new venues do have extra charges guests need to be aware of, while The Loft is included with no extra fees or reservations needed.

Amplify Karaoke costs £14.95 ($20 USD) per room per hour, and the fee covers up to seven guests at the same time. The Red Handed escape room costs £16.95 ($23 USD) per person for each escape event.

The Lost Luggage Bureau costs £19.95 ($27 USD) per person per show and the fee includes the three signature cocktails with each performance. All prices are subject to change.

Bookings can be made onboard Marella Discovery 2 at the ship’s reception desk or via the Navigate app. Pre-booking for The Lost Luggage Bureau is available through Cruise Control on the cruise line’s website.
