20 Galveston Hotels on Seawall Blvd for Cruise Passengers

Find out about the Galveston hotels on Seawall Boulevard which are good for cruise ship passengers. Covering distance to the cruise port and details.

After years of being bombarded by devastating hurricanes along the coast in the early 1900s, the Galveston Seawall was finally commissioned. Destined to be the “bulwark against the sea”, construction began in 1902.

The first section was completed in 1904, but Galveston engineers spent the next several decades adding to it on either side, further increasing the island’s protection from storms. Construction was finally completed in 1963.

The 10-mile length of Seawall, which towers about seventeen feet above sea level, soon became a tourist attraction for vacationers and cruise passengers. Hotels, restaurants, beaches, and various other businesses put up shop to accommodate anyone visiting the island.

If you’re planning on taking a cruise out of the Port of Galveston and need a place to stay before or after your trip, it can be difficult to find what you need. With so many hotels on the island, we wanted to help you narrow it down a bit.

Conclusion

Galveston Island has so much to offer it’ll be impossible to explore it all during your short pre- or post-cruise stay. If you stay at one of the hotels along the Seawall, there will be plenty of options available to you that are within walking distance.

When looking for a hotel to stay in before or after your cruise, decide how much you’re willing to spend, and how important parking and port transportation is to you.

Many of the hotels listed above provide packages specifically for cruise passengers, so we recommend starting with those. Those will include complimentary parking and round-trip shuttle service, most times for a little more than their standard rates.

Keep in mind that even if shuttle service is part of the package, you may still need to call the hotel ahead of time to reserve your seat. Hotels get really busy during cruise times, so shuttles are usually first-come first-serve.

They aren’t your only choices, though, as many other hotels offer free parking and can help you arrange for third-party transportation. Some either partner with a third-party shuttle service, a nearby hotel, or can help arrange a taxi for you. No matter what, finding a ride should be easy.

We hope our extensive list of hotels on the Galveston Seawall helps you with your trip planning. No matter where you decide to stay, have fun and enjoy your trip!
