Carnival Provides Post-Cruise Service Guests Have Wanted

Key Aspects:

  • Carnival Cruise Line is now providing an online archive of guests’ Sail and Sign statements.
  • Only account statements from the last seven years’ of sailings will be available online.
  • Charges cannot be disputed after debarkation but must be resolved before guests leave their ship.

A cruise vacation can be such an amazing time of new experiences, making friends, visiting exotic places, trying new foods, and more, it can seem like a blur.

Now, Carnival Cruise Line has added a feature to the “My Cruises” section of each guest’s online profile to make it a bit easier to review past sailings. Sail and Sign statements are now available online, but with a few exceptions.

While the new feature will permit guests to review and download statements from past cruises, only statements from the past seven years are available. This means only sailings from August 2018 to present are available.

There is no indication whether or not older statements will be added to the website, or if sailings that might be shown now will gradually be deleted as they retreat further into the aft view.

Guests can only review their own Sail and Sign statements, unless they were designated as the “responsible party” for others. In that case, they can view all statements that were linked to their account for payment.

Furthermore, if guests share online accounts, that may limit whether or not they can see the statements at all. This may be a loophole that is yet to be tweaked as the new feature rolls out.

Clearing one’s computer cache and cookies can also fix viewing errors, or it is possible it may take several days to roll the feature out to Carnival’s millions of past guests.

To access past statements, guests need to log in to their Carnival account, then select “My Cruises” to view their cruise history.

The most recent cruises are listed first. If the cruise has been in the past seven years, there will be a link to view each individual statement, which can also be downloaded for printing if desired.

Statements detail not only the individual charges, but are just like the printed Sail and Sign statements guests may receive onboard. The ship name, booking number, folio numbers, and sailing date are all included.

What Guests Can’t Do With Online Statements

While this online archive of Sail and Sign statements can be useful for guests’ personal records, they cannot be used for disputing charges with Carnival.

These online statements will not be available until 1-2 days after debarkation from each cruise. Because all charges must be settled prior to leaving the ship, guests will not be able to dispute any errors on their statements using the online copies.

This means any duplicate charges or unknown fees cannot be challenged if guests don’t see them and visit Guest Services before debarking at the end of their sailing.

Fortunately, guests still have multiple ways to review their accounts onboard. On newer ships, interactive televisions in each stateroom can be used to access account statements.

Guests can also use the Carnival Hub app to review their onboard purchases and charges, or visit the kiosks located in public areas to check their accounts.

A quick visit to the Guest Services desk is an easy way to request a paper printout of the statement anytime during a cruise.

Carnival Cruise Line has traditionally provided a paper copy of the final statement to each guest’s stateroom the night before debarkation. This practice might now be discontinued to save on paper, though no such announcement has been made.
