The Reason Carnival Panorama Cruisers Are Being Told Not to Drive

Just days before sailing, guests booked on Carnival Panorama‘s July 26, 2026 departure have been notified that there is no parking at all available at the cruise terminal in Long Beach. This can put a definite roadblock to some guests’ plans for arriving at the terminal on Sunday.

“Cruise terminal parking is not available for your sailing,” the notification bluntly stated. “We strongly recommend using a ride share service or getting dropped off. If you choose to drive, you may be directed to an offsite lot, which is not operated by the port.”

This situation is not unusual for Carnival Panorama sailings and Cruise Hive has reported on previous notifications when guests are directed to offsite lots where shuttle service is available.

For this particular weekend, however, another event is adding even more traffic difficulty that could cause even further congestion for cruise guests.

“The Vans Warped Tour (being held in the city) may result in heavy traffic, and street closures which could impact your commute,” the notification explained.

The Vans Warped Tour is a traveling rock festival stopping in Long Beach on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26. More than 140 acts are scheduled over the two-day event, which is being held adjacent to the Long Beach Convention Center, just across the bay less than one mile from the cruise port.

Street closures for the tour, as well as additional traffic and heavy congestion, are likely to impact any cruise traveler heading to the Port of Long Beach from the north or east, especially along Ocean Boulevard or Shoreline Drive.

The festival doors will open at 11 a.m., exactly when peak traffic to the cruise terminal is also expected.

Carnival Cruise Line is adamant, however, that guests must still arrive within their selected terminal appointment time and all guests must be onboard on schedule.

“Guests who arrive early may not be allowed to enter the cruise terminal,” the notification explained. “You must be on board by the final boarding time printed on the boarding pass.”

Carnival Panorama is set to begin a 6-night sailing to Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada before returning to Long Beach on Saturday, August 1. There have been no changes to the ship’s 3:30 p.m. departure time from Long Beach or her overall itinerary.

No Exceptions for Late Arrivals

Carnival Cruise Line takes great care to notify guests when special events may impact traffic to and from the cruise terminal. Similar notifications have happened for parades, marathons, and music festivals in other cities.

The cruise line has been equally clear, however, that they are not responsible for such traffic and guests must abide by the all aboard time if they hope to set sail.

Even when a situation is clearly outside of guests’ control, no refunds or compensation are offered if travelers don’t make it to their ship on time. This happened when an accident and traffic jam on the highway delayed cruisers from reaching Port Canaveral in August 2025 but they were denied any refund.

Long Beach is notorious for crowded parking and the use of off-site lots, but guests who have sailed from Southern California recently have shared more detailed warnings for upcoming travelers.

“We arrived at 11:30 a.m. [and] almost missed final boarding at 2:30 p.m.,” one guest shared on Facebook. “We were directed off site after sitting an hour & a half in traffic on the bridge. Got to off site parking only to be told the lot was full. Go EARLY!!!”

With the extra complication of the music festival across the waterway, guests may want to plan even more travel time than anticipated and consider alternative routes to reach the cruise terminal.
