Cruise News Writer
How did you get started in cruises?
My dad is the ultimate ocean enthusiast, so I have been on the water since before I could walk. My parents took me on my very first cruise in May of 2002 when I was merely 3-years-old! It was a Disney Cruise, which was an absolute blast for a Disney-loving kid (now adult) like myself.
My parents have taken me on many cruises, having gone on a few from California to Mexico, two Mediterranean cruises, and even a cruise around the West Indies. I truly think cruises are a fantastic way to experience multiple locations without having to schlep your luggage around.
What makes you a cruise expert?
There is nothing I know better than being on the ocean. I have been driving a variety of watercrafts since age 6.
So far I have been on 6 cruises, my favorites being the ones in the Mediterranean. I have even been lucky enough to have been on multiple cruise lines, including Disney Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, and Princess Cruises.
Additionally, I have an extreme interest in people – how they think, interact, and communicate. I graduated summa cum laude from Pasadena City College with a AA in Social and Behavioral Sciences. After that, I graduated with my BA in Communications with departmental honors, college honors, and cum laude from UCLA.
Finally, I got my master’s in Communication Management with a marketing focus from the University of Southern California Annenberg School of Communications and Journalism. TL;DR I am a big old nerd for knowledge.

What’s your favorite cruise line?
Every cruise is fun in its own way, but I had a particularly awesome experience on a Carnival Cruise that has stuck with me for over 11 years. I made tons of friends in their teen center and was a frequent visitor at the unlimited soft-serve station.
What’s your top tip for new cruisers?
My family and I once missed our cruise ship while in Europe, my best advice is to never trust the European train system to be on time! In all seriousness, have a plan in place in case something like this does happen including bringing identification with you.
Otherwise, take advantage of the amenities! Cruises have awesome onboard experiences and I think passengers should take advantage of them while they can.
