Construction on Virgin Voyages first ever cruise ship will commence today and it will all be broadcast live on Facebook. You can watch the feed below or if you missed it can watch it again.
The piece of steel will be cut on the very first cruise ship for Virgin Voyages. The major milestone will take place at 2:00 PM EST at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. There has been much anticipation on the new class ship from Virgin. It is the first of three ships ordered and construction will be completed in 2020.
Virgin Voyages is based in Miami and once complete the first ship will sail week-long Caribbean cruises out of PortMiami, Florida. The cruise line is set to “make waves” so let’s find out!
The three new class ships will be built at the Sestri Ponente (Genoa) shipyard at 110,000 gross tons. The ships will be able to carry 2,800 guests at 278 meters long and 38 wide. 1,100 crew members will be working onboard. So far, that’s all we know about the upcoming vessels. We are still waiting to know the first ships name, features and of course the first glimpse at its renderings. Hopefully, we’ll get some of our questions answered in the live broadcast.
