Virgin Voyages has been steadily making a name for itself in the last couple of years. Despite the fact the cruise line has not made a single regular voyage yet, it is certainly making a buzz with those interested in the cruise industry.
Virgin, which views itself as a lifestyle travel brand, is looking to shake things up. With its latest promotion, it is sure to do precisely that. The cruise line unveiled its ‘Shipload of Love’ commitment as it intends to gift 2,021 voyages in honor of new adventures to come. And it’s doing this in an extraordinary way.
Paying Tribute
Virgin Voyages isn’t planning on just donating a bunch of voyages to lucky people in a lucky draw. The initiative is a way in which people can honor those that have been there for others in the most challenging times and people who have impacted lives in a meaningful manner:
โThis initiative is meant to pay tribute to those who have impacted our lives in a meaningful way. No good deed is too small, and no individual is to be overlooked. Love and beauty exist in the eye of the beholder, including our unsung heroes, who have shown us that their embrace makes the world a better place.
To honor the personal heroes that exist in our lives in a multitude of ways, Virgin Voyages is giving away a real โShipload of Loveโ, starting with an open call to nominate a person who has inspired you, cared for you, and helped you to navigate this past year for the vacation of a lifetime.”
The special promo will be officially launching on Valentine’s Day; this day coincides with the delivery last year of Scarlet Lady. Virgin will be opening the proceedings on February 14 for the first 1,000 nominations. However, the promo will be a year-long effort to spread the love.
If you want to nominate that special person in your life or someone who is making a difference each day, head on over to the Virgin Voyages Social Media channels or the website and drop a short video explaining why that person deserves to sail on a Shipload of Love cruise. The submissions are accepted until March 16, 2021.
Scarlet Lady & Valiant Lady
Virgin hopes to be sailing with Scarlet Lady from May this year. This marks a delay of over a year for the new kid on the block, although Virgin seems to have taken advantage of the cruise hiatus by building more excitement for the eventual launch.
The 2,770 passenger, 110.000 gross ton Scarlet Lady, will be homeporting in Miami and sailing on Caribbean itineraries, all with stops at The Beach Club at Bimini. The exclusive 4.5-acre beach club on the island of Bimini is where Scarlet Lady will also see her official launch during her maiden voyage on May 9, 2021.
The lineโs second luxury cruise ship Valiant Lady is expected to be launched later this year, while Virgin Voyages will launch a third and fourth vessel in 2022 and 2023.
The cruise line announced that it would be announcing the third vessel’s name and itineraries early this year. Whether all vessels will be sailing from the company’s new Terminal V building in Miami was not announced.
However, both Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady will be sailing from Terminal V. Scarlet Lady will be here permanently. Valiant Lady will be here seasonally once the terminal is opened, which will be in November 2021.
Do you have someone special in your life that deserves a break? Do you know someone that has been working extremely hard to make the lives of others better? Send in a video to Virgin Voyages, and they might get a free cruise!
