There has been violence in the popular cruise destination of Puerto Vallarta on the mexican west coast. As a result several cruise ships will be skipping the port of call.

The drug gang related violence has caused cruise lines to cancel calls at Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Royal Caribbean .Celebrity Cruises and Disney Cruise Line have all cancelled ship visits.

Royal Caribbean have stated in a statement that “The call to Puerto Vallarta (on May 12) was canceled due to the recently experienced episodes of violent civil unrest, stemming from criminal gangs that have engaged in armed conflict with local authorities,” said Cynthia Martinez, director, global corporate communications for RCCL, the parent company of Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises. “We also canceled Celebrity Infinity’s call on Sunday. We will continue to monitor the situation in Puerto Vallarta.”
