Third Largest Cruise Line in UK to Change Name

UK cruise line Thomson Cruises is rebranding to Marella Cruises but will still be part of TUI.

For the first time in its history, Thomson Cruises which is the third largest UK cruise line will be changing its name to Marella Cruises at the end of October 2017. The new brand will bring modern new additions to the fleet and exciting new itineraries.

Helen Caron, Distribution and Cruise Director said:

We’re really proud to offer an experience that guests can, and want to, come back to again and again and moving forward as Marella we’ve got brand new, modern additions to our fleet and more destinations, choice and experiences than ever before which really reflects our spirit of exploration and discovery within the new brand.”

The majority of features and services currently on all five Thomson cruise ships will stay the same. The ships in the fleet will be renamed including the newest ones, TUI Discovery renamed to Marella Discovery, TUI Discovery 2 changed to Marella Discovery 2 and the upcoming TUI Explorer to be named as Marella Explorer. Marella Explorer will join the fleet in Summer 2018 and TUI Spirit will be departing the fleet in the Summer. Thomson Majesty will keep its name until November 26.

To celebrate the beginning of a new brand and ere for the British cruise line, new itineraries across Asia as part of its winter 2018 programme have been revealed. The newly renamed Marella Discovery will sail to 18 exotic new ports of call on 14 new adult-only itineraries. Marella Discovery will sail to destinations such as Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia and Kuala Lumpur. In addition to this, Marella Discovery will also sail to India, calling at fascinating ports including Mumbai, Mangalore, Mormugao (Goa), Cochin (Kerala) and Colombo (Sri Lanka), and to the Middle East, with highlights including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat.

Even though the cruise business will be named Marella Cruises other parts of the travel company will be known as TUI just like in Germany.
