One of the main Cruise lines in Asia called Star Cruises has ordered a new large cruise ship. The company has made the order with Meyer Werft in Germany who will construct the vessel.

Star Cruises is mainly dedicated to Asia with home ports in China and calling to destinations like Taiwan and South Korea. The cruise line currently operates five ships all purchased from other cruise lines.

The new ship will cost $707 Million and is expected to carry 3,364 passengers. The ship will be built for the Asian market with many lounges and onboard features dedicated to the region.

The ship will help Star Cruises grow and stay strong against growing competition from Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Lines. A new Hong Kong cruise terminal which has recently partly opened will help increase demand in cruising for the region.
