While Cruise Lines sailing in Europe appeared to be relatively safe from significant issues so far, this week Costa Cruises had to cut a cruise short and MSC Cruises was not allowed to disembark passengers in Malta.

One of the most anticipated new cruise ships to arrive in 2018 will be Celebrity Edge and the cruise line has released new photos while under construction in France. The Celebrity cruise ship will be the first in her class and will feature new innovations which can be seen in the photos further below.

Celebrity Edge Sneak Peek Photos

Celebrity Cruises has released some sneak peek photos from onboard Celebrity Edge. The ship which is the first in its class is in the final stages of construction and all the spaces are now being fitted out ready for delivery.

We also get to see some external shots of the new ship which includes the first ever Magic Carpet, a an area which is located on the side of the ship and can elevate up down. It can be used for tendering guests in port and as an onboard dining venue. The ship is looking good and not long to go.

The ship has already completed some major construction milestones including the first float out in January 2018 and then the successful sea trials in July. Since the the ship moved to a wet dock where the focus moved to the interior and now crew members will also start to arrive to make sure the ship is ready for the first guests.

Celebrity Edge will take the cruise line into a new era of cruising and is the first of four new cruise ships in the Edge class. The ship will be delivered in November 2018 from the formerly named STX France shipyard in France. Another sister ship named Celebrity Apex will join the fleet in Spring 2020 and then another two in 2021 and 2022.

Celerity Edge will sail from Port Everglade, Florida starting in December and the regular cruises will be 7-day sailings to the Caribbean. The ship is 117,000 gross tons and has a guest capacity of 2,900.
