Celebrity Apex Completes First Sea Trial

There is a shiny new cruise ship just around the corner and that is the Celebrity Apex which has successfully completed sea trials. The new ship returned to the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France on the weekend after some intense work at sea for the very first time.

The trial took place between February 4 – 8, 2020 in the Bay of Biscay and the trial was overseen by more than 50 crew members including engineers and nautical experts. Thanks to the revolutionary Parabolic Ultrabow the ship was smooth sailings with a superior level of comfort.

Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises, said:

“The purpose of a sea trial is to test the functionality of the ship, but this wasn’t just any sea trial – and Celebrity Apex isn’t just any ship.”

“In typical Edge Series-fashion, the ship absolutely exceeded our expectations, performing perfectly in line with our above-and-beyond operating standards.”

This is an important milestone in construction of the ship to make sure she is seaworthy and able to keep passengers and crew safe while out at sea. The fitting out phase is already underway and the ship is starting to come alive, you can see the latest views during construction below:
