Royal Caribbean Chairman and CEO, Richard Fain has released a new video message to travel agents with a focus mainly on how important the vaccines will be on resuming cruises safely in 2021. It’s going to take time but there is now a clear view to resume cruises next year.
Latest Richard Fain Video Message
It’s all about the vaccines in a new video message from Royal Caribbean Group Chairman and CEO, Richard Fain. In the latest update from Fain, he was excited about the vaccines and that they provide a clear road to recovery in 2021.
He said that the arrival of vaccines is a game-changer and now they don’t have to only rely on health protocols and testing. The Vaccines can lead the battle against COVID and enable society to open back up.
Fain provides hope for the cruise industry by saying that COVID cases will fall just as quick as they rose and we’ll be able to focus on cruising once again. You can watch the full video below:
Fain also said that “today we envision that the key, but not the exclusive factor will be the vaccines rather than purely the protocols.” However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that vaccines will be required once cruising resumes. Health measures will still be an important factor.
It’s still too early to know and we’re still months away from the first cruises out of the U.S. A perfect example of health protocols is what happened with the COVID scare on Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas cruise ship out of Singapore. Fain mentioned that protocols worked and it allows the cruise line to learn for future sailings.
At the moment Royal Caribbean International has suspended operations through February 2021 and until then, the cruise line is working on getting ships ready for a safe return. The only ship sailing right now in the fleet is Quantum of the Seas out of Singapore.
