Queen Latifah Named as Carnival Horizon Godmother

Queen Latifah has been named as the godmother for Carnival Horizon, Carnival Cruise Line's newest cruise ship. The naming ceremony will take place in New York in May where Latifah will be the center of all the festivities.

Queen Latifah is the godmother of Carnival Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship Carnival Horizon which is almost ready for delivery. The Grammy award-winning musical artist, acclaimed television and film actress, label president, author and entrepreneur will attend the ships naming ceremony on May 23, 2018.

Carnival Horizon Naming Ceremony

When Carnival Horizon has her naming ceremony in New York this May Queen Latifah will take center stage during the invitation-only event onboard the new Carnival cruise ship. Latifah will even take part in the Lip Sync Battle: Horizon show which an authentic shipboard reproduction of the hit Paramount Network series. During the festivities on the second Vista class ship long-time Carnival partner St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be presented with a check. This will have an amount from various activities where funds have been raised from Carnival Cruise Line. The ships LED Dreamscape Atrium sculpture will feature special artwork from the children of the Hospital.

“Knowing that she is a long-time supporter of St. Jude and has performed and won ‘Lip Sync Battle’ made her the ideal candidate to serve as godmother to our newest ship,” she added.

Latifah said:

Following the christening event, Carnival Horizon begins her summer schedule from New York that runs through September followed by the launch year-round Caribbean cruises from Miami later that month.
