Princess Cruises Cancels Cruise Due to Quarantine

Princess Cruises which currently has its Diamond Princess cruise ship under quarantine in Yokohama, Japan has been forced to cancel the following voyage which was scheduled to depart on February 4. A letter was sent out to Travel Agents explaining the situation which is being passed onto guests who are booked on the sailing.

You can read our original post about the ship being quarantined right here.

Princess Cruises stated the following:

“We thank you for your understanding and patience as we have been managing the unexpected delays to your cruise. Regrettably, while we have made every attempt to maintain your cruise. the thorough nature of the health review process by the Japanese Ministry of Health, the number of guests and crew being tested, and the time needed for full results to be obtained have given us no other choice but to cancel your cruise.”

Guests are receiving a full refund of their cruise fare along with their airfare and any post-cruise packages. All pre-booked shore excursions and port fees are also being refunded back to guests. A 100% future cruise credit is being offered which must be booked by February 28, 2021. The cruise line is rescheduling any flights booked with Princess Air but if not alternative arrangments will have to made themselves.

Diamond Princess currently remains in port after arriving earlier to end its 15-day voyage which departed Yokohama on January 20. The reason for the quarantine is due to a man from Hong Kong who tested positive for the Coronavirus after disembarking when the Princess cruise ship made a call to Hong Kong on January 25.

There are 2,666 passengers currently onboard while health officials in japan test for Coronavirus infections. The crew is also being tested. The deadly virus which first started from the Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei province has infected more than 20,000 people globally and killed 427.
