Princess Cruises Names Fourth Royal-Class Ship Sky Princess

Princess Cruises has revealed the name for the fourth Royal-class cruise ship which is arriving towards the end of 2019.

Sky Princess will be the name of the fourth Royal-class cruise ship for Princess Cruises and it will be entering service in 2019. The vessel will be an evolution of fellow sisters ships Royal Princess, Regal Princess and the Chinese purpose-built ship Majestic Princess.

Jan Swartz, group president of Princess Cruises and Carnival Australia, said:

“Sky Princess continues a Princess Cruises legacy and honors one of our previous ships. When Princess merged with Sitmar Cruises in 1988, Sky Princess joined our fleet and sailed with us for 12 years. Now more than 30 years later, a new Sky Princess will join the fleet featuring our modern design platform and contemporary innovations offered to exceed our guests’ expectations.”

The future Princess cruise ship will be 143,700 gross tons and be able to carry 3,660 passengers. The vessel is already under construction and the first steel was cut back in 2016 at the Fincantieri Castellammare di Stabia shipyard in Italy.

Sky Princess will sail her inaugural season in the Mediterranean with the maiden voyage departing Athens (Piraeus) on October 20, 2018. The ship will sail 10 cruises with unique itineraries where guests will enjoy the very latest onboard features from Princess Cruises.
