A passenger from the Norwegian Escape cruise ship was overboard in the early hours of the morning.
The Norwegian Cruise Line vessel has been dealing with an overboard situation since around 3 AM where a passenger was reportedly overboard. The ship immediately started searching for the yet to be named passenger near the British Virgin islands in the Caribbean. Other vessels in the area also helped to search the area. After hours searching, the body of the overboard passenger was found at around 7 AM.
As seen in the image below the Norwegian Escape commenced a search pattern before continuing on route to Tortola:
Norwegian Escape is sailing a 7-night cruise which departed Miami, Florida on April 15. Due to the overboard, the ship’s arrival into Tortola was delayed but the remaining schedule is expected to continue as normal. Norwegian Escape will call in Nassau, Bahamas on April 21 before finally arriving back at its homeport on April 22.
The ship is 163,000 gross tons and can carry over 4,200 guests at double occupancy. Cruise Hive has reached out to the cruise line for further details and will update this post once we get a response. Our thoughts with the guests family and loved ones during this very difficult time.
