Passenger Missing from Holland America Cruise Ship

A guest has gone missing from MS Amsterdam while the ship is at the beginning of its transatlantic cruise from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It is believed the woman has gone overboard after she was noticed to be missing at around 9:00 AM this morning (May 8).

According to a passenger who got in touch with us, the cruise ship turned around to begin a search to where it was believed she may have gone overboard. The passenger said “May 8, 2019, off the coast of Bantry Ireland. This morning at around 1 AM a woman went overboard on the Holland America MS Amsterdam it was not discovered until 9 AM that she was discovered missing and the ship turned around to our 1 AM spot.”

No further details are known but it is likely marine authorities from Ireland and any nearby vessels have been assisting in the search. With the harsh condition of the Atlantic, it is unlikely the woman would be able to survive for long. It is not known if she intentionally went overboard.

Our thoughts go out to the woman’s family and friends during this very difficult and worrying time.
