The newest cruise ship in the world Norwegian Getaway has finally been christened in Miami on Friday. The NCL operated ship arrived into PortMiami on Thursday for the very first time where it was welcomed by several tug boats firing water which is traditional.
On Friday the ship was christened and one of the main events was a performance by Armando Christian Perez aka Pitbull who is from Miami. Pitbull is a well-known recording artist in the music industry all over the world and the performance went down well onboard the ship. To go along with his music Pitbull also introduced his signature “Voli” brand. Voli is a Vodka which will now be available for guest across the entire fleet. Also the artists favorite drinks using the Voli will also be featured on the ships.

The Miami Dolphin cheerleaders actually christened the ship which we’re sure everyone was excited about. They flipped the switch which smashed the champagne bottle against the hull of Norwegian Getaway but there was a slight issue as VIPs were unable to watch the event but could hear it.
[quote_box_center]“What better way to welcome Miami’s ultimate ship than with Miami’s ultimate performer and international superstar, Pitbull,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s CEO. “A Miami native, Pitbull epitomises this incredible city and is also a Latin Grammy Award winner so he is the perfect fit with our new ship that will sail year-round from Miami and features the first ever Grammy Experience at sea.”[/quote_box_center]
Brooke Burke-Charvet who is from the “Dancing With The Stars” American TV show hosted the event which had all sorts of different celebrations. The ship had an amazing backdrop as the sun set across Miami and the celebrations continued.
All the featured celebrities where at the ceremony too including Buddy Valastro who is from “The Cake Boss” and is the boss of Norwegian Getaways “Carlo’s Bake Shop”. Also popular chef Geoffrey Zakarian has three featured dining venues onboard including Ocean Blue which includes the Waterfront and Raw Bar. The artist who designed the hull artwork, David “Lebo” Le Batard who is from Miami also attended the ceremony.
There was an amazing fireworks display which matches the bright colorful vibe of Norwegian Getaway and her new home port, Miami. The ship will be sailing all year round from the city on 8- day cruises to the Eastern Caribbean. Norwegian Getaway carries over 4,000 passengers and is 146,600 tons making it the second largest class ship in the fleet at the moment. The ship cost $780 Million to build at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
