Norwegian Cruise Line’s Newest Ship Features in Latest EMBARK Episode

In its ongoing efforts to engage in new marketing strategies with potential cruisers and past cruisers, Norwegian Cruise Line will continue its โ€œEMBARK with NCLโ€ video-on-demand series with the premiere of a two-part feature focused on its newest ship, Norwegian Prima.

Norwegian Cruise Line introduced the first season of its EMBARK docuseries when the industry began a slow rebound in 2021, as it sought to reassure future guests about health and safety measures following the suspension of operations during the COVID pandemic

Episode to Highlight Naming Ceremony in Reykjavik

Part one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s latest episode of โ€œEMBARK with NCLโ€ is titled “Christening Norwegian Prima: First in Class” and chronicles the launch and christening of Norwegian Prima in Reykjavik, Iceland.

In part two, titled “Norwegian Prima: Discover Innovation,” viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at onboard destinations and experiences.

Norwegian Cruise Line president and CEO Harry Sommer said, “With the debut of the Prima Class, we wanted our guests to be amazed from the moment they stepped on board, instantly creating everlasting memories with family and friends. And what better way to kick off that very first memory than christening Norwegian Prima in one of the most beautiful and spectacular countries in the world, Iceland.”

“With this EMBARK episode, I’m extremely excited to offer our guests, for the first time, an inside look at this momentous milestone, as well as inspire them to join us for their dream vacation at sea.”

The episode will be live-streamed on December 8. Previous episodes in the series have focused on shipboard entertainment and cuisine, and on destinations that Norwegian Cruise Line ships visit, including the Caribbean and Alaska.

Highlights Include Christening, Shipboard Features

Part one of the new episode includes a preview of the opening ceremony at the HARPA Concert Hall in Reykjavik, and performances by Icelandic singer-songwriter Briet and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Viewers will see Godmother Katy Perry board Norwegian Prima and officially name and christen the vessel.

Shipboard experiences are highlighted in part two of the episode, with highlights including the Indulge Food Hall and its 11 eateries, the three-level Prima Speedway, the Drop and Rush thrill rides, the ship’s theater, and other notable spaces onboard the Norwegian Prima.

The new episode is hosted by American television personality and world traveler Zay Harding and Lexie Alford (aka Lexie Limitless), the Guinness World Record Holder for the youngest person to travel to every country by the age of 21.

Built at the Italian shipyard Fincantieri, Norwegian Prima accommodates 3,100 guests at double occupancy. The vessel has 20 decks, 1,600 staterooms, 18 dining venues, and 17 bars and lounges.

Her maiden voyage following the August 13, 2022, naming ceremony in Reykjavik called at Zeebrugge, Bergen, and Geiranger in Norway, and Akureyri and Isafjordur in Iceland. The ship is homeported in Port Canaveral, Florida, operating Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises. In spring 2023, the ship will reposition to Northern Europe for its summer series.

It is due to begin homeporting in Galveston, Texas, for winter 2023-24 cruises to the Western Caribbean.
