Nieuw Statendam Cruise Ship Marks Major Construction Milestone

The next Holland America cruise ship Nieuw Statendam has reached a major construction milestone and has launched at the shipyard.

Nieuw Statendam is the next new cruise ship for Holland America Line and the ship reached a major construction milestone at the Fincantieri Marghera shipyard in Venice, Italy. A coin ceremony was celebrated as the future vessel now begins the fitting out phase.

Madrina of the ceremony was Anne Marie Bartels who is an elite President’s Club loyalty program member and very dedicated to the cruise line. As tradition at the coin ceremony, a silver dollar on the forward mast of the ship was welded in and when the ship is in service passengers will be able to take a look at the coin through a small window on the top deck.
