Cruise ships will be used as floating hotels for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar including the new MSC Europa mega-ship.
Cruise Ships to be Floating Hotels for World Cup
MSC Cruises has signed an agreement with Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy to charter two cruise ships to accommodate fans during the FIFA World Cup 2022 which will be in Qatar.
Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman, MSC Cruises, said:

The cruise line will charter MSC Europe which is currently under construction in Saint Nazaire, France and once completed will be 205,700 gross tons. Also being chartered will be the MSC Poesia and together both vessels have a combines capacity of 4,000 staterooms.

The vessels will be berthed at the Doha Port providing fans with stunning views of the West Bay skyline. The ships will remain there for the month-long tournament which will kick-off on November 21, 2022.
In addition to floating hotels, Qatar’s other accommodation options will include hotels, apartments and fan villages.
