New Aida Cruise Ship Departs Shipyard

The newest ship for Aida Cruises has departed the shipyard for the very last time.

Aidaperla is one step closer to regular service after departing the Nagasaki shipyard in Japan yesterday, April 3, 2017. Aidaperla is the second in a new generation class for the German-based cruise line and will probably be the last with an even newer class already under construction.

On May 9 the new vessel will make a stop to pick up more crew members and provisions ready for its maiden voyage out of its new home port of Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Aidaperla is scheduled to arrive at the port on June 1, 2017, and will then set sail on a special 5-night cruise with calls in Spain and France.

While sailing towards Spain the ship’s crew will be getting the final touches ready for the first guests and workers will be doing some last minute technical work to make sure the vessel is in perfect order. The ship’s christening ceremony will take place on June 30 in Mallorca with model and presenter Lena Gercke, the ship’s Godmother.

Aidaperla is identical to Aidaprima and is 300-meters long at 125,000 gross tons. The new vessel will be able to carry 3,200 passengers at double occupancy. one of the main highlights of the ship is an all-weather beach club along with water slides, infinity pools and a lot more.
