NCL Reveals Details On Norwegian Joy, Its Purpose Built Ship For China

Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed details on its first purpose-built ship for the Chinese market. Norwegian Joy 喜悦号 (Xǐ Yuè Hào), will have features and amenities for Chinese cruisers when it’s completed in Summer 2017.

Lets take a look at some of the most exciting new features that will be part of the Norwegian Joy:

NCL are really pushing onboard entertainment and activities to the max with new innovative features not seen on other cruise ships. At the very top of the ship, guests will take the ride of a lifetime on a thrilling two-level competitive racetrack– the first ever at sea. Guests can race against each other and even get a first place finish photo.

Laser tag is being taken to a whole new level with an open course that will keep kids and adults busy for a while. The Galaxy Pavilion which will be located inside will feature virtual reality experiences, simulator rides and even interactive video walls.

Located in the Galaxy Pavilion will be hovercraft bumper cars, a professional single-seat racecar that’s been converted into a state-of-the-art racing simulator. Three interactive dark ride simulators provide guests with a captivating experience featuring real-time 3D graphics, 360- degree surround sound and multi-sensory special effects, while flight and car simulators will let guests take flight or take to the road for an adrenaline-filled experience. Star Wars Battle Pods will also keep guests busy as they take on the dark side as a fighter pilot.

Take a look at all the features in the video below:

Norwegian Joy will feature two multi-story water slides. The high-speed Double Aqua Loop free fall slide will offer the ultimate thrill by extending out of the ship and even looping down to the deck below. The tandem Aqua Racer slide allows guests to race side-by-side on inner tubes for more than 360 feet as they twist and turn to the finish line.

Those guests looking to take it easy onboard the Norwegian Joy can relax at the tranquil open space park. The park will be located on the open deck with nice scenery and places to get some shade from the Sun.

As Chinese love to shop the Norwegian Joy will offer an upscale shopping complex. The shopping area will be the largest in the fleet with Tax and Duty Free including well-known brands.

The exclusive Haven Club onboard the Norwegian Plus will feature an all-new Observation Deck that will feature 180 degree views, the same as the ship’s officers experience from the Bridge, with gourmet canapés and premium beverages.

The 164,500 gross ton vessel which will be among the largest in the world will be delivered in Summer 2017. The ship is currently under construction by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. Once delivered to NCL the ship will sail from Shanghai & Tianjin (Beijing), China.
