The cruise line is growing fast and with two new class cruise ships already delivered in 2017 MSC has now announced that another two new cruise ships are on order. MSC Cruises announced two Seaside EVO class ships are on order from Fincantieri in Italy.
The two new cruise ships will be an evolution of the Seaside class with a total investment of 1.8 billion Euros. The announcement was made during the delivery ceremony of MSC Seaside at the Fincantieri, Monfalcone shipyard in Italy.
Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of MSC Cruises, said:
“As we are nearing the end of 2017, we can look back on a year when we enjoyed unprecedented capacity growth. With two of the more innovative new ships in the industry having come into service in the past six months and now with the addition of two Seaside EVO ships to our investment plan, we are now even better positioned to further extend our global footprint. We are expecting the delivery of at least one new ship each year through 2026, with six to have come into service between 2017 and 2020.”
We know what you really want to know is the stats for the new class cruise ships and when they will enter service. The first ship will arrive in 2021 and the second on 2023. They will be 169,380 gross tons, 1,060 feet long and carry up to 5,646 passengers. The first ship will replace the build slot of the third regular Seaside class vessel which was on order.
The Seaside EVO class ships will bring the very latest environmental design technology and will expand on features and elements already seen on MSC Seaside which has just been delivered by Fincantieri.
