What a busy week of cruise news it was! We saw even further extensions on the pause on operations from cruise lines.

TUI Cruises upcoming cruise ship Mein Schiff 3 has been floated out at the STX Turku shipyard in Finland. Construction began on the 99,000 ton ship a year ago and is now in final stages of the process.

The large ship is built to be environmentally friendly with several new features for exhaust gases and energy efficiency improvement. The shipyard construction process had has also been improved using new building practices and concepts. Mein Schiff 3 is the first ship to be built out of two and will be dedicated to the German Market when it launches in Spring 2014.

A sister ship Mein Schiff 4 will be built 1 year later using the same new innovative building process. Both ships are 99,000 tons and will be able to carry 2,500 passengers. The Mein Schiff 3 ship cost $625 Million to build, Mein Schiff 4 is expected to cost the same.
