Carnival Cruise Line has built the largest ever cruise ship but it’s not just any ship, it’s a ship made out of canned meat! The ship was carefully put together in New Orleans in consultation with the New Orleans chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The canned ship is 30-feet long and features 17,000 cans of food. Over 100 volunteers helped carefully place each can of food into position.
The construction of the canned ship is in partnership with the New Orleans Saints. The cruise line and NFL team are helping promote hunger in Southern Louisiana by providing incentives for schools to participate in a Holiday Food & Fund Drive.

This Holiday Food & Fund drive in partnership with the New Orleans Saints and Second Harvest was a fun and rewarding way to provide tens of thousands of meals to those in need this holiday season”
The Holiday Food Drive got schools involved by collecting can of food, the schools that collected the most received classroom prices including free pizza parties, Saints lithograph footballs and free cruises. The winning schools were announced during half-time at the game. The joint initiative will provide more than 75,000 meals for those in need in the greater New Orleans area this holiday season.
