Mariner of the Seas to Receive New Features in Huge Dry Dock

Mariner of the Seas will receive new enhancements during a major $90 Million dry dock which will be completed in June 2018.

Mariner of the Seas will be reimagined after undergoing a major $90 Million dry dock which will be completed in June this year. The Royal Caribbean cruise ship is going to be totally refreshed with new experiences, thrills, and spaces to keep guests busy all sea day long!

The Royal Caribbean vessel will be ready to showcase its new look when it begins offering a quick getaway from PortMiami, Florida. Starting on June 2018 Mariner of the Seas will sail 3- and 4-night Bahamas cruise including visits in Nassau and the cruise lines private island resort of Coco Cay.

Before we get into what’s being added during the major refurbishment let’s take a look at some of the major highlights. Mariner of the Seas will be getting Sky Pad, The Perfect Storm waterslides as seen on Harmony of the Seas, New Flowrider, an all-new bar, Jamie’s Italian and a lot more.

Mariner of the Seas Dry Dock Enhancements

Mariner of the Seas is going to treat guests with so many new enhancements it will be like cruising on a brand new ship! We have to start with Sky Pad, a brand new virtual reality, bungee trampoline experience bringing tech to the adventure experience. Guests can choose to use virtual reality headsets or simply enjoy stunning ocean views aft of the ship.

The Perfect Storm set of waterslide which was first introduced on Harmony of the Seas will be added to Mariner of the Seas. The set of slides includes Cyclone and Typhoon, both offering a different thrill. Staying with Royal Caribbean thrill seekers, the upgraded vessel will have a glow in the dark laser tag experience and a new 40-foot Flowrider Surf simulator.

The cruise ship will have an all-new Polynesian inspired bar which can’t be found on any other Royal Caribbean ship. The Bamboo Room will be a really cool retro space where guests can enjoy cocktails. The ship will also feature Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade for great beer and food.

Dining is an essential part of cruising and on the new look Mariner of the Seas there will be a new Jamie’s Italian restaurant, Izumi Hibachi & Sushi venue and the popular Starbucks to keep guests going while enjoy all the new offerings onboard.

As always when it comes to a cruise ship refurbishment the ship will receive a lot of attention in all areas with work being done in the cabins, hallways and more. The dry dock also provides a chance to make some technical upgrades and a nice new coat of paint.

Mariner of the Seas Overview

The 138,000 ton Mariner of the Seas is currently based in Asia with cruises from Singapore. The ship will depart for the last time in April 2018. The ship which can carry over 3,100 guests at double occupancy will make its way towards the new homeport in Miami, Florida, oh yes, and a dry dock along the way!
