Latest Royal Caribbean Cruise Ships Affected By Hurricane Matthew

Majesty of the Seas

Royal Caribbean has posted a new updated that Majesty of the Seas Saturday, October 8 sailing from Port Canaveral has now been cancelled. Guests can get a full refund of their booked cruise or a 150% discount towards a future voyage.

Empress Of the Seas

The ships departure from Port Miami will go ahead on Friday, October 7. Boarding will begin at 5:00 PM and guests are not to arrive any earlier.

Enchantment of the Seas

The ships departure from Port Miami will go ahead today with the boarding process starting at 5:00 PM. Just like Empress of the Seas, guests are to arrive not before that time.

Hurricane Matthew is a powerful storm which is causing widespread disruption across the cruise industry and beyond. We’ve put this post together to keep track of any cruise ship itinerary changes from Royal Caribbean. Any port closure details affected Royal Caribbean ships will also be posted here.

At the moment Empress of the Seas and Majesty of the Seas have upcoming altered itineraries mainly due to ports in Florida being closed. Cruise Hive has previously reported on ships changing itinerary along with Carnival Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line. PortMiami, Port Canaveral, Port Everglades, Jacksonville Port and Charleston Port are all closed. The ports are set to reopen after assessment once Hurricane Matthew has passed.

Empress of the Seas

The ships October 6 sailing from Miami has been adjusted due to the ports closure. Empress of the Seas will instead depart from Miami a day later on Friday, October 7. The exact departure time is still unknown as the port authorities will have to make an assessment once Hurricane Matthew passes. The calls to Key West, Florida, and Nassau, Bahamas are still scheduled but this could change closer to the time.

Royal Caribbean is giving compensation for the missed day and giving a 25% credit towards a future cruise for goodwill.

Majesty of the Seas

The ship was original scheduled to depart Port Canaveral, Florida on Friday, October 7 but the port is now closed. Instead, Majesty of the Seas will depart on Saturday, October 8. The port of calls at Nassau and the cruise lines private island of CoCo Cay are expected to go ahead as normal. The missed day will be compensated to passengers along with a 33% credit towards a future cruise for goodwill.

As of writing this post, Hurricane Matthew is hitting the Bahamas with maximum sustained winds of 125 MPH, the powerful Hurricane is gaining in strength and about to become a category 4 Hurricane once again. South Florida is next in the path as it heads along the east coast.
