Carnival Cruise Line has released new construction photos of Carnival Horizon from the shipyard.
All is on schedule as Carnival’s next cruise ship coming in 2018 is under construction at the Maghera shipyard in Italy. Work continues on Carnival Horizon and in the photos below workers can be seen on the open deck getting her ready for business by April 2018 which is when the ship will enter service.
As Carnival Horizon is now in the fitting out phase, thousands of workers are setting up the interior spaces. Technical aspects and systems are also still ongoing which is normal for under construction cruise ships. In Spring the crew members will begin to arrive and start setting up their departments for the first cruise passengers. The ship also needs to undergo intensive sea trials before being delivered from ship builder Fincantieri to Carnival Cruise Line.
Once complete Carnival Horizon will be 133,500 gross tons and identical to Carnival Vista which is already in the Carnival fleet. Carnival Horizon will feature the first Dr. Seuss-themed WaterWorks aqua park in the fleet along with an IMAX Theater and the innovative SkyRide.
The ship will sail its maiden voyage on April 2, 2018, from Barcelona but won’t stay there for long as she will arrive after a transatlantic voyage in New York on May 23, 2018. The vessel will spend all summer sailing Bermuda and Caribbean cruises from the Big Apple. In September Carnival Horizon will begin its year round service sailing 6-day and 8-day Caribbean cruises from Miami, Florida.
