As cruise ships look for new home ports for 2021, Bermuda is increasingly popular as a departure point for some cruises. Travelers looking for the best Bermuda hotels for a pre-or post-cruise stay will find a good choice of hotels in Bermuda, although even the cheapest B&Bs can be pricey when compared with the USA.

There are several reasons why cruising from Bermuda is growing in popularity. Since Covid-19, several cruise lines have relocated to new home ports beyond the restrictions of the USA so they can start cruising again.

These include RCI’s Vision of the Seas and Crystal Cruises. Although this is a temporary decision, Bermuda has always been a popular port of call on cruise itineraries.

Where is Bermuda?

Bermuda is a remote British Overseas Territory in the North Atlantic Ocean about 650 miles east of North Carolina, USA. It consists of 181 tiny islands totaling just 20.6 square miles, but very few are inhabited. The largest is Main Island, commonly referred to as Bermuda. It is connected to seven other populated island by bridges.

Bermuda is just over 21 miles long and less than two miles wide, so most Bermuda hotels and resorts are reasonably close to the cruise port. Although the island has three ports, the only deep-water docks suitable for accommodating larger cruise ships are in the Royal Naval Dockyard which is at the northwest tip of Main Island.

Why Cruise from Bermuda?

As well as being a new home port outside the USA, cruising from Bermuda has many advantages. It’s a delightful and beautiful island to visit with its pink sandy beaches, golf courses, British colonial architecture and laid-back way of life.

Why not extend your cruise by staying in one of the beachfront Bermuda hotels, either before or after your cruise?

It makes sense to fly into Bermuda at least a day before you sail and stay overnight in a convenient Bermuda hotel just in case there are any unforeseen hiccups which might delay your journey. Once you’ve arrived in Bermuda, you can relax, sleep well and prepare to check-in and board bright and early the following day.

Flights from New York to Bermuda take just over two hours non-stop and cost around $360.

One final reason to tempt you to stay and cruise from Bermuda are the ports of call. Cruise itineraries from Bermuda usually include visiting Freeport, Bahamas; Nassau, Bahamas and a day on a private cruise island such as RCI’s CocoCay.

How to Get to Bermuda Hotels
