P&O Suspends Cruises for Even Longer Into Spring 2021

If you were hoping for a cruise from the UK once 2021 arrives then forget it as P&O Cruises has extended its suspension on operations into Spring 2021.

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has posted that it has cancelled its upcoming sailing out of Tilbury departing on July 8. The reason for the cancellation is due to damage after a fire broke out onboard on July 1.

The sailing which has been cancelled is the 9-night ‘Norwegian Fjords’ cruise, sailing from Tilbury on July 8. The British based cruise line has contacted all those guests affected and giving compensation for the cancelled voyage. The cruise line is giving those booked for the cruise a full refund, alternatively if people still want to cruise they can book during any time in 2016 for a similar cabin grade. Guests will also be getting an onboard credit voucher which is worth 20% of the cruise fare, valid until end of December, 2016.

A fire broke out in the ship’s auxiliary engine room and as a result cabling for some engines were damaged. To not ruin the guest experience it was decided that the 13-night sailing from Dover, UK would come to an end. All passengers were arranged transportation back to the UK.

Workers are getting the ship fixed which will hopefully be completed in time for the 26-night arctic sailing departing LondonĀ on July 17.
