Disney Donates Over a Million Dollars for Relief Efforts in the Bahamas

The Walt Disney company which includes Disney Cruise Line is donating more than $1 million to aid in Hurricane recovery effort in the Bahamas.

Disney Cruise Line Donates to the Bahamas

Disney is following the Carnival Corporation and Royal Caribbean by donating and support in the Hurricane Dorian Bahamas relief effort. Disney’s cruise brand is leading the effort with the funds being donated to agencies. Much needed supplies such as food and construction materials will also be sent.

Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger said:

“The Walt Disney Company stands with the people of The Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian.” He went on to say, “We hope our $1 million donation will provide much-needed relief and help our neighbors, colleagues, and all those impacted by this devastating storm begin the long process of recovery as they work to put their lives and communities back together.”

Employees of Disney Cruise Line who are from the impacted areas will be getting support including the 60 Bahamians working on Disney’s private island Castaway Cay in the Bahamas from Grand Bahamas and Abaco Islands along with several more from other islands in the region.

Bahamas is a popular region for cruise lines such as Carnival, Royal Caribbean and NCL which all have private island destinations in the region and use the popular ports at Freeport and Nassau.
