Disney Cruise Line has surprised with an announcement of a seventh new cruise ship to be built.
The cruise line has ordered another new cruise ship to be built and once in service, it will be the seventh in the fleet. The news came as a surprise during an announcement in California, U.S. The seventh ship will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg Germany just like all its previous vessels. The new ship will arrive in 2022 and is set to bring new features and enhancements which adults and kids are going to enjoy.
Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said:
“We decided two ships wouldn’t be enough to hold all of the exciting new experiences we have been dreaming up to take family cruise vacations to a whole new level with immersive Disney storytelling, world-class family entertainment, and imaginative innovations that are fantastically fun and uniquely Disney,” Chapek said. “By the time all three new ships are sailing, we’ll have nearly doubled the size of our existing fleet.”
The ship will be identical to two previously ordered ships entering service in 2021 and 2023 which we reported in March 2016. All ships will be 135,000 gross tons making the largest ever built for Disney Cruise Line. Each ship will have 1,250 guest staterooms. These new class ships have yet to be named and Disney will be revealing further details on features and itineraries in the future. The design and refinements are still under development and Cruise hive will keep readers informed on anything new.
