Carnival Cruise Line has unveiled its lineup of dining venues and places for fun on Mardi Gras, the mega-ship which will join the fleet in 2020.
Mardi Gras Dining Venues
Get ready for some great dining venues on Carnival’s largest cruise ship Mardi Gras. The cruise line has unveiled dining details about the ship’s Lido and Summer Landing zones. One of the biggest highlights is Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken restaurant and the new concepts which will only be featured on the new cruise ship when she debuts in 2020.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said:
“Great food and beverage experiences are at the core of any vacation, especially at Carnival. We always strive to provide our guests with the most diverse options possible, but the sheer variety of food and beverage venues on board Mardi Gras is unlike anything we’ve ever offered before.”
“Our culinary and beverage teams continue to innovate, ensuring that we have an array of new and exciting options in addition to longtime Carnival favorites our guests love.”
Let’s take a look at the details which the cruise line has released covering the venues at Lido and Summer Lading, two zones out of six which will be on Mardi Gras:
Street Eats
This open-air eatery will bring the ready-to-eat nature of street food to the seas with three themed kiosks offering fried, steamed and plancha (skillet) delicacies. Representing a variety of global cuisines and located next to Seafood Shack, the quick, grab-and-go venue will offer a daily rotating menu.
Small plates like empanadas or falafel will be available at the fried station; bao buns or siu mai at the steam outlet; and kebabs or satay at the plancha venue. And the best part – Street Eats’ ever-changing options are free of charge.
RedFrog Tiki Bar
Designed to transport guests to a South Pacific paradise, the new two-level RedFrog Tiki Bar is a twist on Carnival’s popular poolside bar with playful, rum-based cocktails in an island-inspired atmosphere decked out with tiki heads, floral patterns and vibrant colors.
Steps away from Guy’s Burger Joint, guests can wash down hand-crafted burgers with refreshing cocktails – such as the Polynesian Punch, Red’s Rum Runner Jumper and Jungle Bird – creatively presented in pineapples, souvenir tiki glasses and Mai Tai glasses with elaborate garnishes.
The Watering Hole
Situated within The Patio at Summer Landing, The Watering Hole is modeled after a fun backyard gathering spot and is the perfect space for guests to unwind, grab a cocktail and enjoy sweeping sea views.
The bar will boast a wide beer selection including Carnival’s own canned and draft brews, as well as refreshing summer-inspired sips like the Watermelon Cooler and Tequila Sunset.
Big Chicken Restaurant
Shaquille O’Neals’s Big Chicken Restaurant will be located on the lido deck aft. The venue will follow in the footsteps of the transformed Carnival Radiance where it will first be introduced in 2020.
The venue which has been created by Carnival Chief Fun Officer is all inclusive and includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Regular Favorites
Mardi Gras will feature the largest Guy’s Burger Joint in the fleet along with New England-inspired Seafood Shack, Mexican-themed eatery BlueIguana Cantina, and the Lido Marketplace. They can all be found at the two-deck-high Lido zone.
The area will also have a mid-ship Beach Pool and Infinity Aft Tides Pool with a bar and stunning ocean views.
Located at the Summer Landing zone will be even more areas to chill including an infinity pool and whirlpools. There will be a sports bar and hang-out space for dance classes and more.
Mardi Gras will have an expanded Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse which is set to be larger than what’s already featured on the Vista-class ships. The venue will include is own brewery providing Carnival’s own craft beers.
An exciting time for Carnival’s largest-ever cruise ship which is currently under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. Once completed she will be 180,000 tons along with a guest capacity of 5,200.
