P&O Suspends Cruises for Even Longer Into Spring 2021

If you were hoping for a cruise from the UK once 2021 arrives then forget it as P&O Cruises has extended its suspension on operations into Spring 2021.

When the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship undergoes a major multi-Million dollar refurbishment this June one of the most important aspects is the dining experience. Cunard Line has released further details as onboard dining will be taken to new heights once the upgrade is complete.

Just as Cruise Hive previously reported, the Queen mary 2 will have a totally redesigned Carinthia Lounge. The lounge will serve alternative breakfast and lunchtime offerings together with bespoke premium coffees. The large ship will also feature The Verandah restaurant evoking memories of the famous Grill on the original Queen Mary, a completely transformed Kings Court Buffet, completely refurbished restaurants for guests staying in the suites and a new Smokehouse alternative dining concept.

Richard Meadows, president, Cunard North America said:

“At Cunard, we pride ourselves in delivering a culinary experience that continuously exceeds guest expectations and illustrates Cunard’s utmost attention to detail,”

“We are pleased to debut refreshed culinary offerings on Queen Mary 2 Remastered, which we have created to appeal to the most discerning guests while revitalizing classic dishes and creating new ones.”

Queen Mary 2 will also get new menus for some dining venues. Other ships in the fleet will also be receiving new menus through 2016. A new development kitchen has opened up in Southampton, UK where all the menus and dishes can be tested.

The 25-Day dry dock will take place at the Blohm+Voss Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany from May 27 to June 21, 2016.
