Since Friday evening there has been heavy fog affecting cruise ships which are based out of Galveston, Texas. Three Carnival ships have been affected by the fog and as a result, itineraries have been altered.
At the moment Carnival Breeze, Carnival Freedom, and Carnival Valor have all been affected by the dense fog in Port of Galveston and the region. Carnival Valor and Carnival Freedom were scheduled to arrive back into Galveston on Saturday morning but the weather conditions forced them to wait out at sea until the early hours of Sunday morning. Both vessels finally docked but missed an entire day which would normally include resupplying and regular guest turnaround for the next voyage.
Due to the missed days for Carnival Freedom And Valor and the delay of Carnival Breeze’s arrival, there are some itinerary changes which Carnival Cruise Line has posted. Let’s take a look at the details:
Carnival Valor
UPDATE – 15 JAN 17:30 EST
Carnival Valor is now scheduled to operate a four-day cruise departing today and calling in Progreso, Mexico, versus the originally scheduled five-day cruise departing yesterday with two ports of call, one in Cozumel and one in Progreso.
Check in is now scheduled to commence today at Terminal 1 at 10 am. Guests must be on board by 2pm and the ship will sail as soon as the port reopens again. Guests who choose to sail on the modified itinerary will receive a one-day prorated refund.

Carnival Freedom
UPDATE – 15 JAN 17:30 EST
Carnival Freedom is presently docked at a cargo terminal at the Port of Galveston given that no additional cruise terminals are available at this time. The cargo terminal is not equipped with Customs & Border Protection processing stations so guests are unable to disembark the ship. When Carnival Valor departs Galveston later today, Carnival Freedom will reposition to Cruise Terminal 1, weather permitting.
Once debark is completed we will commence embarkation for the new cruise and the ship will operate a six-day cruise calling in Grand Cayman and Cozumel versus the originally scheduled seven-day one. Based on the shortened duration, the call to Ocho Rios, Jamaica will be cancelled.

Yesterday we reported on the Disney Wonder which was forced to stay in the Port of Galveston overnight due to the fog. The ship was finally given the all clear on Saturday afternoon to depart on an altered itinerary. The dense fog is expected to clear over time through the next few days.
