It Just Got Easier to Send Money for the Crew

Crew members across the cruise industry now have a new simpler and easier way to send money back home. With a new partnership between MoneyGram which is a leading money transfer company and Brightwell which is a FinTech company crew members can use an app to make money transfers back home. We can think of many ways how this would make life easier for the crew.

Alex Holmes, MoneyGram Chairman and CEO, said:

“We’re excited to partner with Brightwell and deliver a convenient, digitally-enabled experience that will save crew members valuable time and money while also providing more options for those receiving the funds.”

“We continue to execute our digital transformation through new partnerships and service offerings that address the needs of our customers and provide fast and reliable options no matter where or when they need to send money.”

The new app service with MoneyGram, funds can be sent to family and friends in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. In most cases, crew members will have to wait until the cruise ship is in port until they can send their hard-earned money back home. With most of the crew sending money from the homeport or major ports such as St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands it can be difficult for them to find the time due to work shifts.

Mike Gaburo, CEO of Brightwellm, said:

“It’s our mission at Brightwell to serve the financial needs of crew members through cutting-edge products and thoughtful innovation.”

“We’re excited to partner with MoneyGram to bring financial freedom to those in the cruise industry with a quick and seamless way to send funds back home while working at sea.”
