Regal Princess Cruise Ship Overboard

Cruise Hive is sad to report that a female crew member has died after going overboard the Regal Princess cruise ship which is operated by Princess Cruises.

The tragic overboard occurred this morning as the Princess cruise ship was docked in Rotterdam, Netherlands. A search and rescue operation was launched by the ship’s crew but sadly her body was later found. This was also confirmed in a tweet by the Police.

The exact cause of the overboard is unknown but it’s believed she went over intentionally. This could be due to the current situations on board related to the global pandemic or even something from home. Our thoughts go out to her family during this very difficult time.

Regal Princess arrived at the Port of Rotterdam on May 6 as part of the cruise line’s repatriation effort. The ship had come from Florida after crew members had been transferred from other vessels. The cruise ship still remains in port and authorities are investigating the overboard.

Regal Princess is one of the larger class ships from Princess Cruises at 142,700 gross tons and with a guest capacity of 3,560 at double occupancy along with 1,346 crew members.

This follows a crew member who went overboard Jewel of the Seas earlier in the month. The Royal Caribbean ship was in the Mediterranean at the time, you can read more about that story right here.
