Astonishing Cruise Line Losses, No End In Sight

Shocking numbers released show the industry is on track to lose around $20 billion in revenues this year.

A couple from Brazil have been kicked off the Celebrity Solstice for stealing. When the large vessel docked in Dunedin, New Zealand the couple were met with local Police after being kicked off the ship. According to Police the theft was apparently over a designer handbag which was worth hundreds of U.S. dollars.

Senior Constable Steve Tvrdeic has said the bag was taken from the onboard shops which was caught on camera. The bag was later found in the couples cabin. The two passengers might have to find their own way home from New Zealand after disembarking the Celebrity Solstice.

Stealing from the shops onboard can be common and in fact once the passengers are seen on camera other departments around the ships are notified. In most cases staff are just told to follow the thieving passengers around so nothing is stolen. The cruise lines don’t usually take further action due to the bad press.

Celebrity Solstice is sailing a 14-night New Zealand cruise and called at Port Chalmers in Dunedin on January 13. The 122,000 gross ton ship is scheduled back at Auckland, New Zealand on January 19.
