Costa Deliziosa made its maiden call at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, as it repositions to the Caribbean for the winter cruise season. This will be the first time the 92,720-ton, 2,260-passenger ship will be based at a U.S. port and it is the newest Costa vessel to homeport in South Florida.
Costa Deliziosa’s winter sailing season begins today with a seven-night holiday cruise calling at Costa Maya, Mexico; Belize City, Belize; Roatan, Honduras; and Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
Scott Knutson, vice president of sales and marketing for Costa Cruises North America said:
“Thank you to everyone at Port Everglades for an incredible welcome, both to Costa Cruises and Costa Deliziosa. Costa Deliziosa is the newest Costa ship to homeport in the United States, and we are excited for North American guests to see firsthand what makes Costa Europe’s most popular cruise line.”
Following the holiday voyage, the ship will sail a series of six 10-night itineraries and one nine-night itinerary, enabling guests to enjoy “Italy’s finest” onboard while seeing more destinations across the region than typically are offered on Caribbean itineraries. Costa Deliziosa will call at Nassau or Freeport, Bahamas; Amber Cove, Dominican Republic; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Roatan; and Cozumel or Costa Maya, Mexico.
Costa Deliziosa entered service in 2010. Designed for Costa’s most discerning clientele, the ship features a variety of premium materials including various types of marble, granite, mother-of-pearl and Murano glass. The majority of the cabins onboard come with a view and 68 percent of the ship’s 1,130 staterooms feature a private balcony. The ship also features four restaurants and 11 bars.
Guests looking for excitement can take advantage of Costa Deliziosa’s three swimming pools; a multipurpose sports court for tennis, volleyball and soccer; a jogging track; 4D cinema; casino; dance club and piano bar; library and shopping center. Those who prefer to relax can visit the two-level Samsara Spa that boasts a gym, thalassotherapy pool, treatment rooms, sauna and Turkish bath.
Fares for the 10-day cruises start at $799 per person, double occupancy. Costa Deliziosa’s last roundtrip cruise from Port Everglades for the season will depart Feb. 25, 2016.
