Construction Begins on Fourth Oasis Class Cruise Ship

A Keel laying ceremony was held today which is the beginning of physical construction of the fourth Oasis class cruise ship.

The upcoming ship which will be in the same class as Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas had its keel laid at the STX shipyard in St. Nazaire, France. At the shipyard a a 1,000-ton block measuring 32-ft by 154-ft was lifted by crane into the building dock. Also as tradition coins were placed under the keel which will be removed once construction is complete.

The ceremony was attended by key executives from Royal Caribbean and the STX shipyard. There are still some major milestones to come including the huge ship floating on water for the very first, all the blocks completed and sea trials.

Once yet to be named fourth Oasis class ship is complete in Spring 2017 it will be 227,000 gross tons and carry 5 479 guests at double occupancy.
