A search is underway for a 24-year old man who went overboard the Carnival Elation while it was heading towards its first port of call in the Bahamas. The passenger reportedly was seen going over the side of the ship from deck 11 which was captured on the ship’s CCTV footage.

The overboard occurred on Monday morning while the Fantasy-class vessel was around 15 miles southwest of Abaco, Bahamas at sea. The 70,300 gross ton Carnival Elation departed its homeport in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, February 11 and Nassau, Bahamas is the first port of call on the itinerary. The ship will also be calling at Carnival Cruise Lines private island of half Moon Cay before arriving back at JAXPORT on February 16.
