The UK’s Largest Cruise Line Cancels All Cruises Until Next Year

The UK cruise industry is pretty much shut down until next year after P&O Cruises announced all cruises are cancelled until 2021.

Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that the Miami Dolphin cheerleaders will be the Godmothers to the upcoming cruise ship Norwegian Getaway. Not just that but the actual football team who play in NFL will have Norwegian Cruise line as the official cruise company of their Sun Life Stadium.

The cheerleaders will christen Norwegian Getaway at the official ceremony which will be on February 7th 2014. It’s set to be a huge event in Miami as the ship will be the largest to sail year round from the popular home port of Miami. It’s sister ship Breakaway had a massive christening ceremony in New Year earlier in the year which was a great success.

Kevin Sheehan, NCL President & CEO Said:

[quote_box_center]“Norwegian Getaway is Miami’s ultimate ship, so the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders are a great fit with our brand as they are excellent role models and global representatives of South Florida,”

“There’s no better match here in Miami than to have these outstanding women christen our new ship.”[/quote_box_center]

There seems to be a history with cruise lines and sports in Miami, Carnival Cruise Lines has long been involved with the Miami Heat basketball team which is mainly thanks to Carnival CEO Micky Arison who also owns the team!

Jason Miller, director of corporate partnerships for the Miami Dolphins/Sun Life Stadium said:

[quote_box_center]“Partnering with the world’s premier cruise line allows us to align with another iconic South Florida brand that like the Dolphins, strives to provide a first class experience in everything they do,”

“It is truly an honour that our cheerleaders have been selected to christen the largest ship ever to home port in Miami. We look forward to building a mutually beneficial long term relationship with Norwegian.”[/quote_box_center]

The Miami Dolphin cheerleaders have been a popular part of the team since 1966. They will probably be the same kind of godmothers as the Rockettes were for sister ship Norwegian Breakaway in New York.

Norwegian Getaway will be a large ship at 146,600 tons and will be able to carry over 4,000 passengers. Norwegian Cruise Lines has recently been releasing more details about the ship including all the themed lounges dedicated to Miami and South Florida. You can read all about the themed lounges right here.

Norwegian Getaway will be sailing year round from Miami on 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruises leaving Miami every Saturday.
